他个子只有172cm，短跑运动员最佳身高是180cm—195cm，当年中国另一飞人刘翔身高在189cm，短跑项目中，个子矮要失去许多先天优势。

再加上我国短跑事业相比其它国家而言，起步要晚一些，选择短跑作为终身事业的运动员少之又少，国际短跑赛事上我们从来没有进入过决赛。
