The lunar new year is a great occasion to the chinese people. it lasts about the first four days of the year,during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. students do not go to school,and shops are closed.

several days before the new year,people begin to prepare. farmers kill pigs,sheep,cocks and hens. city dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. houses are cleaned; coupletsare posted on the doors. colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

On the eve of the new year,each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. after the meal they watch tv until the clock strickes twelve. then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fire works to welcome the new year. on the first day of the new year,almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. when people meet on the way,they say to each other “happy new year”. friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. children indulge themselves in games.

Chinese New Year starts with the new moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the the full days later. In china,people regard Spring Festival as the most important thing.People studied and worked throughout the year.No matter how far and how busy, they must do their best to go back home.Thats a tradition and now becoming a habit. During this time,transport is extremely busy.Although the way is difficult,it cant reduce the urgent feeling of going home.I cant describe this feeling,only the people that experienced it can understand.Actually,on one hand,people miss their family,and they need to get comfort in the family.On the other hand,getting together is a symbol of blessedness and auspiciousness.People in other country dont have this consciousness that going home is necessary.For example,American could celebrate the Christmas in everywhere they like or with anybody.This diversity is occasioned by different culture between two countries.

目前过春节的国家有，中国、韩国、朝鲜、日本、越南、泰国、新加坡、印度尼西亚、马来西亚,主要是亚洲国家过春节，剩下的就是生活在其他国家的华人自己过春节了。

韩国

韩国是一个非常遵从传统的国度，春节就是以祖先崇拜和孝思想为基础的节日，是祭祖祈愿家庭平安的一天。韩国春节的传统风俗有很多，有岁妆、岁画、福笊篱、赶夜光鬼等等传说。至今流传下来的习俗有祖先祭拜、岁拜、德谈、“掷木四”和跳板等习俗。中国人春节都要吃年糕，韩国人春节也有专门讲究吃的食品，统称为“岁餐”。流传至今最具代表性的春节料理是“米糕片汤”。

日本

春节是日本以前最盛大的节日，每家用松柏装饰房屋，除夕晚上全家人围着火炉守岁。午夜时寺院响起108声钟声，第二天互相拜年。在日本，新年时有一种叫“福袋”的商品。所谓福袋，就是装着商品的不透明的袋子。福袋有很多种，化妆品、服装、生活杂物、电器，总之能装进袋子里的都行。价钱从1000日元到上万日元不等。由于非常受欢迎，福袋往往年前就开始预售。

越南

春节是越南民间最大也最热闹的传统节日。越南人把春节视为辞旧迎新的日子，一般从农历12月中旬开始办年货准备过年，而历来越南春节最不可少的大概要数鲜花、年粽、春联、爆竹了。越南人过春节也有贴春联习惯。以前春联用汉字书写，文字拼音化以后，现在大部分春联改用拼音文字，每个拼音字是一个方块，自成风格。

新加坡

农历春节即将来临，在华裔人口占近80%的新加坡，无疑是一年中最重要、气氛最浓厚的节日。圣诞节一过，大街小巷和商业区就换上了中国传统的春节盛装，大大小小的红灯笼高高挂起，年画也贴了出来，一片喜气洋洋。牛车水各个中国传统式的店铺里买年货的人络绎不绝，大街小巷更是播放着传统的新年歌曲，好不热闹!

马来西亚

马来西亚过春节习俗与中国大致相同，由于当地华人多来自福建，受闽南文化影响，人们过春节一定要买凤梨(菠萝)，闽南语“凤梨”与“旺来”谐音，凤梨就成了春节的吉祥水果。节日期间人们相互拜年时，喜欢带一些橘子，进门送给主人，橘与“吉”谐音，象征大吉大利。

印度尼西亚

印尼华族庆祝春节除夕夜和大年初一一般是全家聚餐，年轻人喜欢在宾馆饭店，但老年人喜欢把儿孙叫到身边，在家里吃年夜饭，叙叙家常、发发红包，其乐融融。在大餐馆和星级酒店的餐厅团聚，在品尝美味佳肴的同时，还能欣赏传统的舞龙、舞狮及武术与民族歌舞表演。

春节是我们中国最传统的节日。过春节之前，人们都喜欢将自己屋子打扫得干干净净，并在门上贴起“福”字，再挂上一幅对联，准备好美味佳肴，以慰劳自己一年来的辛苦；每个大街小巷，都张灯结彩，到处是红灯笼，中国节，真是一片热闹的、喜气洋洋的景象。

从年初一开始，中国人就会看望长辈，拜访亲朋好友，并送出精美的礼物和美好的祝福，表示自己的一片心意。除了拜访亲朋好友，看望长辈，送礼物和祝福以外，中国人还有一个传统的习俗，就是长辈要给比自己小一辈的人的儿子或女儿给压岁钱，这个习俗到现在都没有改变，只是面值变化了一下而已，像现在有的是100元的，有的是500元的，有的是600元的，有的是1000元的……

一般到了大年初一爸爸妈妈就去长辈家拜年；过了初一这个日子还可以去亲朋好友家拜年，也可以出去旅游或呆在家里。当然除了拜年和拿压岁钱以外，小孩子们最喜欢的“新年项目”就是放鞭炮、放烟花了。每到过春节，爸爸就给我买很多鞭炮和烟花，放在两个大箱子里，准备在年三十和年初一（年三十的十二点正）放。随着时代的变化，虽然鞭炮没变，但是烟花却变得形状各异，放出来的烟花也一年比一年更美丽。每当我想起那段放烟花的过程，我就觉得我的胆子大了。我每次都是点燃了火心，就马上跑得老远老远，因为我怕被烟花给炸伤了。当然我从来都没有被炸到过。特别是年三十十二点整，是最壮观的时候了，那个场景真可以用火树银花来形容，各种各样烟花争奇斗艳，在空中飞得高高，而且一个比一个高，一个比一个响。在午夜的十二点，显得极为壮观，每到了此时，我就会异常兴奋，异常开心，整个人都沉浸在夜色中，毫无睡意。

可到了春节后，中国又恢复了平静。
