沈阳市教育局相关人士表示，其实，沈阳市中小学生寒暑假时间按校历执行，几乎年年一致。按照校历，往年寒假时间小学、初中和中等职业学校为1月17日至2月28日，3月1日开学，共43天。普通高中从1月24日至2月28日，3月1日开学，共36天。

但期间也发生过特例。由于2012年的春节在1月23日，如果执行以往校历，2012年过春节时，普高学生还没有放假。考虑到龙年春节提前这一特殊情况，市教育局决定将假期提前到1月11日，学生也因此收获了一个50天的超长寒假。
