My favorite Sports is basketball. It looks so cool in TV that I was crazy

about those basketball stars ever since I was little.

Basketball requires speed, height and skills. I run, jump, switch, and try

to hit! All parts of my body are exercised in this sport. I feel that I’m like

wind flying in the playground for my goal, which makes me feel so GREat!

Basketball needs quick reaction and decision. When chance comes, it may

disappear in the next second. I should keep an eye watching as an eagle, decide

and judge quickly as a leopard, and run for it as a wolf.

Further more, basketball is a sports more than just exercising, It needs

team work. No one can play himself. A team should work together. So I learn to

cooperate with others in this game. I should understand what my teammate doing

and what he needs me to do for him. On the other side, I should learn to show my

teammate what I need. At the same time, I need to keep an eye on the whole game,

knowing how is the situation of our team and how is the other team. It involved

more cooperation and strategy.

I played basketball more for about 5 years now. I make many good friends

throught this sports. It is proud to win honor for my team and my school. Also I

enjoy all games with my friends. Basketball will be my best friends in the

future and my best memory about school life.

又过了一段时间，我竟成了班里的优秀写手，几乎每次作文都被老师朗读。我还加入了中国少年作家协会，发表了自己的一首小诗。我从一个作文很差的女孩到有今天的进步，老师难道没有功劳吗？

As an engineering student majoring in environmental systems, I have strong awareness of the environment and want to work in the field of environmental protection. What is April Fools Day and how did it begin? Well, that is a very good question. The origin of this holiday is rather uncertain. However, the common belief holds that during the reformation of the calendar the date for the New Year was moved from April 1st to January 1st. During that time in history there was no television and no radio so word spread slowly. There were also those who chose to simply ignore the change and those who merely forgot. These people were considered "fools" and invitations to non-existent parties and other practical jokes were played on them. "All Fools‘ Day" is practiced in many parts of the world with practical jokes and sending people on a fool‘s errand.

Another thought is that the origin began with the celebrations of the Spring Equinox. While some believe it has to do the a Roman festival known as Hilaria, the end of the Celtic new year.

In Scotland, April Fools Day lasts 48 hours, day two is know as Taily Day and pranks involving the posterior are played. The victim of the practical joke is referred to as "hunting the gowk"; the gowk is an extinct cuckoo bird.

In France, he is the "poisson d‘Avril" or "fish of April." The fish in April are newly hatched and easily caught. French children enjoy taping a picture of a fish on their friends back and yelling out "Poisson dAvril!" when it is found.

那一次，我尝到了骄傲的滋味。

记得三年级的一天，语文老师告诉我们第二天要考试第三单元的试卷。

回到家，我开始了复习。可翻开课本，越翻越觉得第三单元学习得挺好，生字会写了，课文也熟悉了，该背的也会背了。这还复习啥呀，不一会儿我就觉得腻了，放下课本，干脆就不复习了。

弟弟说：“哥哥，我想吃煎鸡蛋和火腿肠。”

我说：“可我不会做啊！”

弟弟又哭了起来。

我赶紧说：“好啦！好啦！弟弟不哭，哥哥会做，哥哥这就做”

无奈，只好硬着头皮试一下。我在锅里放上一些油，打开火，不久油上就飘起了一缕缕青烟。我赶快磕了一个鸡蛋放进去。“滋啦——”“啧啧啧”我的手！在放入鸡蛋时，几滴热油溅到我的手上，火辣辣的疼！可是，为了让弟弟吃上新鲜的煎鸡蛋，我忍住疼痛继续煎。

好不容易煎好了鸡蛋和火腿肠，拌上番茄酱后放在了弟弟面前。弟弟高兴的一边鼓掌一边说：“哥哥真棒！”看着弟弟狼吞虎咽地吃着我做的饭，我心中升起一股从未有过的自豪感，我觉得我长大了，不再是昨天的那个小孩儿。

我从来没有这样骄傲过，原来我总是一个被照顾者，现在我可以照顾别人了，我为自己骄傲！

Dear Sir,

I am highly disappointed in the proposed 2004-05 budget cuts to educa1ion.

Taking away basic aid status and slashing our school budgets is a recipe for

educational disaster in our school. The future lies with our children. They must

have access to high quality educa1ion.

My husband and I have worked hard to be able to live in a school district

that provides high quality education for our children. Cutting funding in

districts like ours will have a negative impact on property values.

The school that my daughter attends is hardly wha1 I would describe as a

"rich" school. Parents are asked to pay for books for all the classes, science

supplies and for their students to participate in the performing arts among

other items. If our school is to remain a world leader in technological

development, cutting our school funds is the worst possible choice to make.

Education funds should not be diverted away from education.
