Setting a roommates alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"

Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fools Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fools Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.

April Fools Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. Its simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

To encourage people to go outside and relax, a mounting number of parks offer free admission now. People benefit from it, especially during these tough economic times. With free entry, more people will have the opportunity for affordable vacations for families, taking pleasure in the natural landscape.

Fresh air and landscapes in parks are good for people. However, too many people

flocking into parks might not be so good for the parks.

For example, some visitors leave their garbage behind, which may cause environmental pollution. And people’s barbeques and stamping will also bring damage to the grassland and other greeneries in parks.

As a university student, I’m in favor of free admission to parks. At my school, we had a charity sale last week

The charity sale was held on our school playground last Saturday morning.

We prepared many things which were made by hand in our spare time, such as

kites, model planes and so on. They looked very beautiful. We also brought old

toys and second-hand books to sell on the sale. At 8：30, the activity started.

Many students and teachers came to take part in it. Everyone chose their

favorite items and paid for them at a much lower price. In the end, the money we

这样子的训练从初一后半学期持续到了初三。又是一场体育考试，我和同学一起走到操场，每个人的心里都慌张的怦怦乱跳，一起走到了起跑线，听着裁判的一声“开始！”我开始了拼命的奔跑，在第一圈的时候占到了领头位置，然后开始匀速慢跑，跑到只剩最后一圈时，好多同学都从我身边跑过，每跑过一个我的耳边就听见一阵粗喘的呼吸声，我的呼吸也是异常急促，小腿也紧绷得发热，就想马上倒地上睡一觉，又看到有的同学坚持不住在走着，心想我初一时也是这样，一定要赶快跑到终点。怀着这种信念，我跑到了终点，听到裁判说我的名字，我笑了，想想初一时倒数的名次和现在的名次。我真骄傲！

一天晚上，一个小偷偷偷地潜入了主人家里，想偷一点儿值钱的东西，但是主人家并不是十分有钱，没有什么东西可偷的。小偷转身一看，看到了大公鸡，心想：这只大公鸡可是我的一顿美餐啊！偷不到东西能美美地吃一顿也很不错啊！小偷立刻伸手去捉大公鸡。大公鸡吓得“咯咯咯”地大叫了起来。狗听到求救声后，以迅雷不及掩耳之势冲了过去，拼命地和小偷搏斗，想从小偷手里救下大公鸡。突然，小偷感觉脚上非常疼，像被刀刺着一样，他往下一看，原来是狗死死地咬着他的腿，来不及多想，他立马放开了大公鸡，向狗求饶。狗见大公鸡已经平安无事，便也松开了嘴巴，放小偷走了。这时大公鸡早已三魂丢了两魂半，吓得瘫坐在了地上。第二天一早，大公鸡把食盘推到了狗的面前，红着脸对狗说：“谢谢你狗大哥！昨晚救了我一命，请你原谅，我以前太骄傲了。”

从此大公鸡和狗成了一对好朋友。这故事说明了，不要因为自己的一点本领就沾沾自喜，什么事都不能太骄傲了。

当时的情况差距很大，我写的是飞快，而同桌却是不慌不忙的写。我见了，就感觉这样写不认真，会出错，但是我有想了想，以我的速度应该是早早写完的，不应该落到催的阶段。我并没有被这种举动阻拦，还是以我平常的速度。我写完后，同桌还在写，我就开始得意了，我即得意我写的比他快，又得意能全队。囫囵吞枣的检查一遍后，就开始左顾右盼了，分心了。终于开始收了。

批出来后，我大吃一惊，我错了，而且还错了好几个。我真是后悔当初没好好检查，太骄傲。

这就是谦虚使人进步，骄傲使人落后的一个哲理。
