In the weekend, I like to go shopping with my mother. We buy a lot of

The large number of our population has become one of the most serious

problems of our society. According to a recent survey of the National Bureau of

Statistics, there are more than 1.3 billion people in our country, which account

for about 1/5 of all the people in the world. the same survey also predicts that

our population will grow quickly in the years to come.

Overpopulation has brought about a series of negative effects to our

economic development and social security. In the first place, too many people

impose a heavy burden on our environment. As a result, we suffer from a shortage

of fresh water and natural resources. In the second place, as the supply of

labor GREatly exceeds the demand of the society, many people become employed.

This is a source of social unrest. Last but not least, we have to manufacture

别人暑假都在玩，而我的暑假却不能这样。因为我初一、初二根本没有学习，我需要用暑假这个和别人拉开差距的最好时间弥补。我给自己定下来很多目标——我学习较好是文科，可还和别人差很多。因为我们班是有名的差班，所以哪怕我是个差生也还是在班学习属于中上游。没错，即使是个差班我的学习情况也只能是中上游。虽然心里清楚我的情况，但还是会安慰自己。虽然——我给自己定下了很多目标，但是我的完成的只有40%连及格、一半都没有。

看上面你一定以为我要做的事情已经很多根本没有时间做其他事情了吧?但是事实恰恰相反，我还会去想很多事情。脑子里忽然冒出的念头就能把我一天的计划引到沟里，我的自制力太差了。我做的这一切都是为了我可以考上我们这里最好的学校——一中。第一中学，在我们这种小乡村，考上县里的中学那可是祖坟冒青烟的大喜事。我的父母自然希望，我也非常希望。我太清楚学历、学校对人生的印象。我这人比较现实，所以我知道我不可能考上一中。因为别学生准备三年而我只能准备一年半，少了一半……我害怕。我害怕父母失望，我害怕他人嘲笑，我害怕自己毁了自己。

而未来的我们，如果想要有更好的生活来享受这高科技，那么，就应该让自己的大脑也与时俱进起来。用自己聪慧的头脑，来挣的钱，来享受着一切的高科技。不然，就算有再多的高科技，我们也注定要被淘汰。

From Monday until Friday most people are busy working or studying, but in

the evenings and on weekends they are free to relax and enjoy themselves. Some

watch television or go to the movies; others participate in sports. It depends

on individual interests. There are many different ways to spend our spare

time.

Almost everyone has some kind of hobby. It may be anything from collecting

stamps to making model airplanes. Some hobbies are worth a lot of money; others

are valuable only to their owners.

I know a man who has a coin collection worth several thousand yuan. A short

time ago he bought a rare ten-yuan piece worth 250 yuan. He was very happy about

the purchase and thought the price was reasonable. On the other hand, my son

collects match boxes. He has almost 600 of them but I doubt if they are worth

any money. However, to my son they are extremely valuable. Nothing makes him

happier than to find a new match-box for his collection.

Thats what a hobby means, I guess. It is something we like to do in our

spare time simply for the fun of it. The value in money is not important, but

the pleasure it gives us is.

期待已久的暑假终于来临了，我开心极了。可是我高兴地太早了，这不，很多电视节目，文艺晚会等邀请我当主持人。看着雪花般的演讲稿向我袭来，我不禁打了个寒战：oh，mygod!这么多，我背到猴年马月才能背完啊!

与其坐在这害怕，还不如现在就背上一篇呢，雷厉风行[注: 象雷那样猛烈，象风那样快。比喻执行政策法令严厉迅速。也形容办事声势猛烈，行动迅速。]是我的风格，我要勇敢地打败这些纸老虎。终于，经过不分昼夜的“魔鬼背诵”，这堆积如山[注: 聚集成堆，如同小山。形容极多。]的主持人演讲稿都被我背上了，激动之情真的难以言表，我开心地手舞足蹈起来。

我主持的节目获得了大家的一直认可，但我不满足，于是尝试表演了小品，居然也获得了不少鲜花和掌声，心里甚是高兴。但是在一片赞扬声中，我开始骄傲自大了，不再用心背主持稿件。妈妈看在眼里急在心里，我信心满满地对妈妈说：不用担心，我口才很好的，现在往台上一站就能脱口而出。然而就在那天晚上，我得到了一个惨痛的教训。

那晚，有一个大型的少儿节目，我是小主持人之一。在化妆间的时候，很多小朋友都在认真地背台词，而我东张张西望望，觉得没什么好准备的。化完妆，节目开始了。我

昂首挺胸[注: 抬起头，挺起胸膛。形容斗志高，士气旺。]地走上台，开场词说的还不错，可是到了后来就结结巴巴[注: 形容说话不流利。也比喻凑合，勉强。]，无话可说了。当时，我真的想找个地洞钻下去，好丢人啊。终于，等到了节目结束。虽说节目只有三小时，但我就像熬了三十年。走在回家的路上，我头都不敢抬。我觉得周围人可能都会用鄙视的目光看我，他们肯定会说：让你骄傲，瞧，丢人丢大了吧!我想妈妈肯定生气极了，回家要臭骂我一顿了。回到家，出乎意料的，妈妈其他的什么也没说，只送了我一句话：满招损，谦受益。

在哪里跌倒就在哪里爬起!我默默地拿起稿子，背起第二天节目的台词，背了好几遍。到了第二天，稿子已经烂熟于心了。节目开始的前一分钟，我还是在背台词。节目开始了，我精神抖擞[注: 抖擞：振动，引伸为振作。形容精神振奋。]地走上台，自信深情地说出每一句台词。从始至终，我没有忘掉一个词。台下再一次响起雷鸣般的掌声，我热泪盈眶[注: 盈：充满;眶：眼眶。因感情激动而使眼泪充满了眼眶，形容感动至极或非常悲伤
