我记得第一次听到《麦琪的礼物》这本书名字的时候是在我上初三的时候，那时是快要中考了，我拿着那本书几个月的时间就看完了，这本小说到现在对我来说印象最深刻的一段话是：“我想对那些聪明的人说，其实这两个傻孩子是聪明的，他们把自己最珍贵的礼物送给了对方，在一切的赠与和接受礼物的人当中，他们才是最聪明的。无论在任何地方，他们都是最智慧的。他们就是圣贤，他们就是麦琪。”这种美看似不够完整，失去了一部分，但他们却得到了完整的心和爱。这种爱是那些虽身处豪宅却无真爱的夫妻永远体会不到拥有不了的。所以说，这种美更动人，更具有吸引力。

爱的真谛是给予。瓦西列夫在《情爱论》中表明了这样一个观点：“爱的最高境界就是以对方的幸福为最高滴幸福。”再小说中，女主人公德拉多次垂泣抽噎，她并不是因为生活的拮据，而是圣诞节快到了，不知要跟父亲买什么样的礼物。

故事开头“一元八角七”强调了钱的数量少，“六角是一分一分的铜板”再次用精确的数字印证使读者体会到这个家庭生活的拮据。

萨尔丹曾说：“什么是爱?爱是无限的宽容，无意识的善意，自我的彻底忘却。”德拉只记得杰姆的金表上需要配一条金表链，杰姆也只记得德拉需要好的发梳来梳头。他们之间的感情之所以那么的真挚，是因为他们彻底地做到了忘却自我;他们之所以是最聪明的，是因为懂得了什么是真爱。他们之间，纯洁而又真挚的爱，是值得大家去鼓励的。

世界需要有爱，需要有奉献。世界是最美丽的，每个人心中都应充满爱，以及对他人和对生活的爱。
