Oceans becoming more acidicThe worlds oceans are slowly getting more acidic, say scientists.The researchers from California say the change is taking place in response to higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.The lowering of the waters pH value is not great at the moment but could pose a serious threat to current marine life if it continues, they warn.Ken Caldeira and Michael Wickett, from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, report their concerns in the journal Nature.Increasing use of fossil fuels means more carbon dioxide is going into the air, and most of it will eventually be absorbed by seawater.

Once in the water, it reacts to form carbonic acid.Scientists believe that the oceans have already become slightly more acidic over the last century.But these researchers have tried to predict what will happen in the future by combining what we know about the history of the oceans with computer models of climate change."This level of acidity will get much more extreme in the future if we continue releasing CO2 into the atmosphere," said Dr Caldeira."And we predicted amounts of future acidity that exceed anything we saw over the last several hundred million years, apart from perhaps after rare catastrophic events such as asteroid impacts."If carbon dioxide release continues unabated, ocean pH could be reduced by as much as 0.77 units, the authors warn.It is not absolutely clear what that means for marine life, however.

Most organisms live near the surface, where the greatest pH change would be expected to occur, but deep-ocean lifeforms may be more sensitive to pH changes.Coral reefs and other organisms whose skeletons or shells contain calcium carbonate may be particularly affected, the team speculate. They could find it much more difficult to build these structures in water with a lower pH.In recent years some people have suggested deliberately storing carbon dioxide from power stations in the deep ocean as a way of curbing global warming.But Dr Caldeira said that such a strategy should now be re-considered."Previously, most experts had looked at ocean absorption of carbon dioxide as a good thing - because in releasing CO2 into the atmosphere we warm the planet; and when CO2 is absorbed by the ocean, it reduces the amount of greenhouse warming.

我读《三国演义》时，学习到了许多计谋，如反间计，苦肉计，将计就计等等；当我读到关羽死时，我有些哽咽；当我读到赵云救阿斗时，我佩服赵云面对那么多敌人，不但不怕，还孤军奋战救出阿斗；当我读到阿斗掌握大权而灭亡时，心中不少有些气愤，身为刘备之子，自己却那么无能，把跟随刘备的人白白送上黄泉之路，唉！可悲啊！

我读《孙子兵法》时，心中充满了对孙武的战略的敬佩，也佩服孙武对任何人都一样的态度，连国王的妃子也不例外。

书是人类进步的阶梯，我国周恩来总理曾说过，“为中国崛起而读书”，冰心曾说过，“读书好，多读书”。所以我们要努力读书，要让美国人知道我们中国人不比他们美国人差！让我们尽情享受读书的乐趣，遨游书的海洋吧！

望子成龙，望女成凤。那是每个母亲愿望，她们会不惜一切的代价让孩子们的未来更好，世界上的每一个生物都一样，狼也是其中一种。

母狼紫岚就是其中之一。她坚信她与公狼黑桑都是强壮而机敏的好狼种，只要流的是黑桑和她的血统，也是一头剽悍强壮的好狼。果然，龙生龙，凤生凤，老鼠的儿子会打洞。紫岚的大儿子黑仔就如同黑桑一样超前，他一个多月就独自出门捕猎了，有时候还有可能捕捉到小鹿等等呢!一般的小狼一个多月还蜷缩在一个角落了呢!两个月独自驰骋草原，真让人佩服啊!两个月的小狼最多就是在洞里走走而已。如果意外不发生，命中注定，必是将来的狼王。紫岚给他最好的待遇：未断奶时，他一人就要霸占三个乳头呢!断奶后，他吃内脏和好肉，而另外的三只小狼只能吃皮和骨。一开始那三只小狼打抱不平，一直到被母亲撕下他的一点皮毛才算数呢!除了蓝魂儿。可千防万防还是防不了意外：黑仔在洞口附近抓野兔，弟弟妹妹在洞里嬉戏，妈妈紫岚也出去捕猎了，没有母狼的保护，他独自在野外。不幸发生了，可怜的黑仔呀!就死在这样一个黑鹰的手里。未来的狼王，一个称职的狼王，就这样结束了他的生命。紫岚精心培育的狼王啊!多么可惜啊!紫岚心里一定有说不出的痛。

紫岚并没有应此而泄气，她立刻脱离了痛苦、悲哀，他要让蓝魂儿成为狼王!蓝魂儿一开始可能是因为紫岚偏爱黑仔，所以对这样的待遇有点不习惯，他每要一口都抬头看母亲，似乎很警觉。紫岚却向他微笑，在心里念叨：吃吧!尽情的吃吧!它们属于你，爆发出狼残暴的本性吧!你是新一代的狼王!久而久之，蓝魂儿也习惯了，他开始认为自己吃好的是理所当然的。很快到冬天了，狼群开始群居了，紫岚带着蓝魂儿、双毛、眉眉来到了狼群中，蓝魂儿很出众，他是少年狼团的团长呢!他甚至能比过公狼呢!那次，下着大雪天寒地冻，到处没有吃的，狼群就去找比他们凶猛几倍的狗熊吃。可狗熊躲在树洞里冬眠，树洞狭窄，进去引熊出洞的狼没有一个是活着出来的，但哪匹狼愿意牺牲呢?大家都一筹莫展，唯有蓝魂儿愿意，他在熊鼻子上咬了一口，而后立刻跳到熊掌上，狗熊本能的抬起一只爪子，蓝魂儿就趁此机会跳出来了!这是聪明过狼呀!紫岚的狼王梦还没有结束，我也为紫岚、为蓝魂儿感到高兴呢!可是，没有生活经验的蓝魂儿死在了捕兽夹里。有一天，他禁不住美食的诱惑，被捕兽夹夹住了，紫岚很难过，她的心血被捕兽夹夹碎了，她的心肝被捕兽夹夹疼了，为了不让心肝生不如死，她把心肝蓝魂儿的气管咬破了，把蓝魂儿咬成两半，把他埋了……可惜呀可惜!一个狼王又死了。

最后的双毛了，他一开始很自卑，在紫岚的训练下，他也出众了，可在与狼王的战争中，将要胜利的那一刻，被狼王的一声气势十足的嚎叫唤出了自卑最后……最后死了!每个妈妈都是如此，费尽心血，不求回报，只有一个宿愿：让我们的将来更美好!妈妈谢谢你!

Iusually have a lot of things to do after work. Every day after I come home, Ialways read some English passages, in order to improve my spoken English andfeel the charm of language.

After doing that, I surf the Internet to watch thelatest news and find some useful information for my work.

I think this is aneffective way for me to learn more knowledge and widen my horizon.

Then I beginto learn English by listening to VOA and BBC. There are so many interestingstories in these programs. And the hostesses are very excellent. I can alwayssleep well with their beautiful voices. At weekend, I usually have aget-together with my close friends to share our life experience. Sometimes wealso go out for a walk, so as to enjoy our beautiful nature. In short, I usuallyarrange a lot of activities for myself in my free time, because I want to makemy life more wonderful and interesting.

下班后，我通常有很多事情要做。为了提高我的英语口语以及感受到语言的魅力，每天我回到家后我总是看英语短文。

这样之后，我会上网看最新的新闻，找一些对我工作有用的信息。我觉得这是我学习的知识，开阔了我的视野的有效途径。
