春节是我国最隆重的传统节日之一。每年寒假我都会和爸爸妈妈爷爷奶奶一起过春节。贴春联、包饺子、吃年夜饭、看春晚、拜年……都成为春节里最开心的事。

在我的家乡，除夕前几天人们就开始忙绿起来。家里都要打扫卫生，干干净净的过新年。在我家妹妹通常是司令员，我们都是她的兵。妈妈扫地、爸爸拖地、奶奶包饺子、爷爷做饭，我呢，只要倒下垃圾就行了。半天功夫，我们家就焕然一新。

大年三十的重头戏是贴春联，上午大人们忙着弄浆糊、裁春联，最后认真的将大红的福子、对联贴在门上，我们的房子仿佛披上了喜庆的盛装。

在晚上，我们一群小朋友，手里拿着鞭炮，在大人的带领下放鞭炮，烟花在天上炸开时，一朵朵七色花钻了出来，像彩虹一样，五彩缤纷，又像仙女撒花，好漂亮！家家灯火通明，热闹极了。

年夜饭就要开吃了，我看见美味的饭菜，口水直流，长辈们都坐好以后，我们就开始吃大餐，吃饭的时候，我祝全家人“身体健康，万事如意。”

今年，我和爸爸妈妈去爷爷奶奶家去过年。

一大早，我就被浓浓的鞭炮散发出来的烟味给熏醒了，因为爷爷奶奶家住的是小县城所以现在还可以放鞭炮。我换好了新衣服以后，奶奶就吩咐我们去门口贴对联，一张张福字写得强壮有力，妙趣横生，它们都被爸爸倒贴在门上，我一看连忙对爸爸说。

到了下午，我们又准备出去走一走。哇!一阵阵清脆的鞭炮声从我的耳边响起，一阵风吹过，一股浓厚的过年的味道钻进我的心里，走在乡下的小路上，迎面而来的摩托和一辆辆小汽车让人寓意深刻，既带回来的是年货，又满载着儿女们对远在他乡的父母的思念之情。

不知不觉的到了晚上，一进家门一股浓浓的香味钻进我的鼻子里，沁人心脾，有我爱吃的鸡翅、红烧排骨、鱼香肉丝……光是一看我就流出了口水，吃那根本不用讲，可是我刚准备夹菜的时候爸爸严肃地说。

“吃饭时，长辈先吃，我们才能吃，你吃完了以后，要等长辈吃完了才能走，而且今天地上有脏东西，也不能扫地，这样会把财运扫走，这都是中国过年时的风俗”。

One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one bite. People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said, I hear say that you are very capable, but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents? So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.

After that, the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god.
