有人问：“为什么新年里的东西是红色的呢？”这是因为相传在远古时候，我们的祖先曾遭受一种最凶猛的野兽的威胁。这种猛兽叫“年”，它捕百兽为食，到了冬天，山中食物缺乏时，还会闯入村庄，猎食人和牲畜，百姓惶惶不可终日。人和“年”斗争了很多年，人们发现，年怕三种东西，红颜色、火光、响声。冬天，人们在自家门上挂上红颜色的桃木板。于是，这种习俗就流传了下来。

在南方，春节虽然没有制别规定，但在北方，春节时要注意很多事情的。

这是我上一次去北京旅行时，从导游那儿听来的。她说在北方，腊月初八这天，人们要吃“腊八粥”。他们还流传着一句俗语叫作“吃了腊八粥，来年好收田”。正月初一，早餐都要吃素。拜年都是男人的事，女人们是不能出门的。

导游还说，新年是很讲究送礼的，比如说不要送鞋，如果送鞋的话，就表示“邪”，如果送伞的话，就表示送“散”，所以说送礼也是很讲究的。如果想表示心意的话，还是包封大利是，钱还是最实际的。

南方的春节与北方的春节，各有各的不同，各有各的特色，如果说南方的春节是可爱的，那么北方的春节也就是美丽的。
