homework equally according to the holidays so that I can finish all of them in

time. And during my winter vacation, we welcome the most important festival in

离春节越来越近，我和爸爸妈妈说了好多次，一定要和往年一样，买各式各样的花炮。我心里甭提多急了，但他们无动于衷。大年三十晚上，我听着楼下其他孩子放声大笑的声音和鞭炮的炸开声，看着深蓝的天空中一会儿出现“孔雀开屏”，一会儿出现“天女散花”，一会儿“星星闪闪”，我心里痒痒的，忍不住问妈妈：“妈妈，我的鞭炮呢?不是说给我买‘滋梨花’吗?”妈妈说：“今年我们不放鞭炮了。前些时候雾霾很严重，放鞭炮会污染环境，降低空气质量，又很危险。”这下我可是大冬天吃冰棍——凉透了心。我大声嚷嚷：“不好，不放鞭炮，那怎么叫过春节，一点喜庆气氛也没有，春节就少了一半乐趣。”爸爸严肃地说：“放鞭炮会产生很多残屑，环卫工人需要一整天才能打扫干净。烟花炮竹燃放不当，还会引起火灾，每天都有炸伤眼睛的人被送进医院……这一边爸爸将网络资料动员出来，另一边妈妈也添油加醋地说：“放鞭炮劈里啪啦，吵死了，连电视都听不清楚，这只是一个旧俗，我们要过一个绿色环保的新年……”

我渐渐困了，只得上床睡觉。凌晨，一阵鞭炮声把我从睡梦中吵醒，迷迷糊糊的我还想继续睡，可那如雷轰鸣的鞭炮声一次又一次地将我的睡意赶跑，只得昏昏沉沉地爬起来，透过窗户一看，满地都是鞭炮碎屑，仿佛成了垃圾场。

我凝视了很久，心想爸妈说不放鞭炮是有道理的：每人少放一些鞭炮，就会减少一些污染和噪音。今年过年没放鞭炮，但我并不后悔。

Dear Sue,

I’m Li Hua, one of your students in China. It’s almost a month since you left us. We all miss you and are very grateful for what you did for us.

We are busy as usual. We had an English speech contest the other day. I won the first prize! This again reminds me of all your kind help. Do you still remember the trees we planted together on the hill behind the school? Yesterday, we went there and watered them. The tree you planted yourself is growing well, and the whole class decided to name it Sue Wood. Will you come back to see Sue Wood?

My Desk-mate

My desk-mate is a pretty girl. The clearest characteristic of hers is the smile on her face. Any time you meet her,she will give you a sweet smile that is just like spring wind. When she does something good, she might as well smile. And even when she is wronged or criticized, she will smile away it. What a happy girl she is!
