要想上好写作课，就要熟悉高考对学生写作的基本要求。《普通高校招生全国统一考试大纲》中英语学科对写作的基本要求是，注意"应用词汇和语法结构的数量、上下文的连贯性和语言的得体性"；最高档次的的给分要求中还要求考生能够"应用较多的语法结构和词汇；......尽量使用较复杂结构或较高级词汇，具备较强的语言运用能力；有效地使用语句间的连接成分，使全文结构紧凑"等等。
