经过了13小时的长途飞行，我们乘飞机来到了美国第二大城市——洛杉矶(Los Angeles)。车子从机场开往城里，一路上洛杉矶给我的第一印象就是整个城市几乎看不到高楼大厦，所有的房子都是矮平房或两三层的，不愧是传说中的“趴下来的城市”。

为了倒时差，午饭后，我们直接开始游玩。第一站来到好莱坞最著名的制片厂之一的“环球影城”。“环球影城”是以大量出产恐怖片和科幻片著称的。4D电影《史莱克3》第一个吸引我们。“啊——嚏!”突然史莱克打个一个打喷嚏，虽然戴了立体眼镜，还是搞得我脸上全是他的“口水”“鼻涕”，所有人笑了;突然，一群蜘蛛从树上掉下来，爬到我的脚边身后，让我乱起鸡皮疙瘩——原来都是利用喷气和喷水制造的效果!之后我们徒步穿越一个真人+声光效果制造恐怖的鬼屋，真的把我吓得半死!最后排队参加观光车环城的电影奇幻旅行。看到许多逼真的恐怖和科幻场景，以小见大和真枪实弹的电影特效，比如：喷着火燃烧的翻车，从水中突然跃起攻击我们的“大白鲨”，被洪水冲垮淹没的地铁站等等。我还了解到了突然闪电下雨导致山洪暴发，以及飞机失事等灾难的电影特效是怎样制造出来的，真的是大开眼界啊!这是我在其他地方都从来没有看到体验到过的。

早就听说拉斯维加斯(Las Vegas)是个赌城，有很多的高级饭店和赌场。因为是个沙漠城市，拉斯维加斯夏天的气温常常高于40摄氏度，所以，拉斯维加斯才会有那么多的室内休闲活动场所，包括赌场，希望人们都留在室内玩。今天我们一早就搭乘车子开往赌场去见识见识。

途中，我们在著名的棕榈城小镇停歇，去奥特莱斯购物。这里很大，东西也很多，可就是太热!

晚上终于到了拉斯维加斯，吃过饭，我们去看了场逼真的火山喷发表演，热热的熔岩喷出，红红的火也烧的高高的，连水都是烫烫的……换一个酒店，又看了长真人表演的海盗秀，真的有大炮打出了，火把门都烧了，船的桅杆被轰断掉，大船也被打沉了……非常紧张。可是后来导游才跟我们说这些不同的表演都是高级酒店们免费提供的，就是为公益和吸引人气。这里的高级酒店可真是多啊!个个都金碧辉煌，而且还都有自己的特点和主题。听导游说世界顶尖的10家酒店有7家就在拉斯维加斯!

来美国的第三天，我们去举世闻名的美国大峡谷。大峡谷其实的平地裂开来形成峡谷。它横跨四个州，我们去的只是亚利桑那州的那一段的南峡，从拉斯维加斯开过去大约四百多公里。

途中路过美国最著名的水利工程——胡夫水坝后，我们经历了一个小插曲：一辆看不出是警车的警车示意我们的车子停下来，导游有点慌张的下车，我们全都不知道是怎么回事。原来，我们的车子前面有一段路超速了，可是爸爸和叔叔都分别被叫下车去接受“盘问”，再原来，警察叔叔还在怀疑我们乘坐了黑车，要排除嫌疑，也是对我们负责。最后，警察叔叔给了我们导游一个“warning”，爸爸和叔叔还和帅哥警察合了影，我们被放行了。紧张过后觉得还挺刺激的。

今天早上，我们5点多就起床了，目的只有一个——赶飞机。我们搭乘的是UA(美联航——美国联邦航空公司)拉斯维加斯—旧金山8：20的飞机，可是，已经晚点了半个多小时登机过后，我们又在飞机上干坐了近两个小时的时间还不起飞。我急了。妈妈说广播里通告的原因是旧金山当地雾太大了，飞机不能冒险飞过去。我更急了。可是，据我观察，飞机上的美国当地人完全没有慌张和着急的样子。

晚上我们在著名的“渔人码头”吃螃蟹大餐。妈妈说，真美味!

To sum up, people produce huge amount of garbage and the environment is seriously polluted because of lack of financial resources, sense of responsibility, or efforts. But the world will not turn into a “throw away” society if people put in sufficient efforts to protect our environment.

Currently, some cities are considering a food ban on subways, which has sparked heated discussion. Some people say food should be banned because of the trash and rats they attract. And, garbage from discarded food can cause track fires. Beyond sanitary and mechanical concerns, food can also cause fights, as was discovered last week by one passenger who criticized a woman eating steamed stuffed bun on the subway.

However, some others are opposed to the idea. They argue that people like eating in the train in the morning because they dont have enough time to eat at their houses or restaurants. Sometimes that may be the only time or meal a transit rider may be able to eat especially when traveling long distances. Besides, there are people, for example diabetics, who do require food at various times to maintain blood-sugar levels.

Personally, Im against the ban because of the huge inconvenience it would cause to commuters, and the expense involved in enforcing it. Still, I believe we should have a little common courtesy. I think we all have responsibility to try to treat our subway system and fellow riders with respect, and that extends to food as well.

Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another. It is very useful because it can help you make yourself easily understood. When you are talking with others,you are not just using words, but also using expressions and gestures. For example, waving ones hand is to say "Good-bye." A smile and handshake show welcome, and clapping hands means congratulations. Nodding the head means agreement, but shaking the head means disagreement. The gestures are accepted both by Chinese and foreigners as having the same meanings.

Different countries have different body language. For example, men in Russia, France and Arab countries kiss each other when they meet, but men in China or Australia shake hands instead of kissing. People in Puerto Rio like touching each other, but people from English speaking countries do not touth each other. If you touch an English person, you should say "Sorry. Dragon Boat Festival， often known as Tuen Ng Festival or Duan Wu Festival， is a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. Based on historical documents, modern survey and statistics, as well as the result of predecessor studies, the trend and main process of forest dynamics are recognized. The forest area and forest coverage rates for each province of China from 1700 to 1949 are es- timated backward by every 50 years. Linking the result with modern National Forest Inventory data, the spatial-temporal dynamics of Chinese forest in recent 300 years (AD 1700–1998) is quantitatively analyzed. The study shows that in recent 300 years, the forest area in current territory of China has declined by 0.95×108 hm2 (or 9.2% of the coverage rate) in total, with a trend of decrease and recovery. Before the 1960s, there was a trend of accelerated de- scending. The forest area was reduced by 1.66×108 hm2 (or 17% of the coverage rate) in 260 years. While after the 1960s, there has been a rapid increase. The forest area increased by 0.7×108 hm2 (or 8% of the coverage rate) in 40 years. The study also shows that there is a significant spatial difference in the dynamics of forest. The amplitudes of increasing and de- creasing in western China are both smaller than the ones in eastern China. During the rapid declining period from 1700 to 1949, the most serious decrease appeared in the Northeast, the Southwest and the Southeast, where the coverage rate in most provinces dropped over 20%. In Heilongjiang Province, the coverage rate dropped by 50%. In Jilin Province, it dropped by 36%. In Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality, it dropped by 42%.
