首先是美国人。

美国人很友好、礼貌，在小区里别人都会主动和你打招呼;他们看完电影、表演、比赛都会自动起身长时间鼓掌，表示对表演者的尊敬和礼貌;就算你被交警罚款的时候，交警也是很礼貌的，根本不会有“仗势欺人”的感觉;那次我们在去美国大瀑布的途中，一高兴走错了路，只好向两位正在骑单车的美国人询问，他们十分热情，很快停下车，友好地告诉我们正确的路，还告诉我们哪里可以调头、哪里可以转弯这些细节，并祝我们“have a good day”。

The history of life on earth has been a history of interaction between living things and their surroundings. To a large extent, the physical form and the habits of the earths vegetation and its animal life have been molded by the environment. We have subjected enormous numbers of people to contact with these poisons, without their consent and often without their knowledge. I contend,furthermore, that we have allowed these chemicals to be used with little or no advance investigation of their effect on soil, water, wildlife, and man himself. Future generations are unlikely to forgive our lack of concern for the integrity of the natural world that supports all life.
