Thanksgiving which falls on the fourth Thursday of November, is one of the

biggest American holidays. This holiday started in the early 1600s after

settlers arrived in America. These people who came from Europe didnt know how

to survive in the wild new country. Luckily, they met some friendly American

Indians, who showed them how to hunt turkeys and grow corn. In the fall, after

the harvest, the settlers had a great feast. They invited the Indians to thank

them for their help. Today the tradition continues. On Thanksgiving Day,

Americans invite their friends over for a turkey dinner and give thanks for what

they have.

There is no doubt that happiness is the most precious thing in the world.

Without it, life will be empty and meaningless. If you wish to know how to get

今天天气晴朗，我们全家一起去登山。

刚来到山脚下，我就丢下爸爸妈妈兴冲冲地跑到前面，开始往山上爬。山路两旁栽着一棵棵高大茂盛的树木，还有一棵棵矮树丛，树丛里还“藏”着一朵朵美丽的小花。我没有心情去欣赏山路两旁的景色，只顾着奋力地爬向山顶。由于山路是平坦地水泥路，我爬得很快，爸爸妈妈被我远远地抛在后头。我得意洋洋，爬得更起劲了，还一边爬一边哼起了歌。

爬着爬着，我觉得脚有点酸。我望了望身后的爸爸妈妈，他们就快追上我了。爸爸看我气喘吁吁的样子，笑着说：“才到半山腰你就累成这样，还想爬上山顶?”被爸爸这么一说，我又开始奋力地向山上爬去。

又爬了一段路，我实在没力气了，在路旁找了个石凳坐下去休息。爸爸妈妈走到我身边，我对爸爸妈妈说：“我不想爬了。”爸爸说：“是谁在家里拍着胸膛说要凭自己的本领爬上山顶的?怎么，想打‘退堂鼓’啦?”我跟爸爸说：“反正我是没力气再爬了。”妈妈也开口了，她语重心长地对我说：“你怎么能遇到一点儿困难就退缩呢?你现在在半山腰，就差一段路就能到达山顶，难道你要就此放弃吗?”

我对妈妈说：“可是我真的很累，没有力气了。”“那你休息一下再爬，爬山最需要的耐力，你不能半途而废，这样是永远也登不上山顶的!”我无可奈何，只好休息一下后再继续往上爬。

终于，我爬上了山顶。虽然一路上遇到了许多困难，但我都勇敢地克服了。我站在山顶上往下望，整个潮州城的景色都尽收眼底。那个时候，我的心里是多么高兴，多么愉快。这种心情不是那么轻易就能体会到的。

虽然这件事已经过去了，但妈妈的那番话却依然深深地印在我的脑海里。它时时刻刻都在告诉我：不管做什么事，都要像登山一样，有耐心，有恒心，不能一遇到困难就退缩，要勇敢地去克服困难。妈妈的话让我受益匪浅。

People often ask and are asked that what is the most important thing in

life. Some people answer that family is the most important and others say love,

work or money. In my opinion, health is the most important in life. However, how

to keep healthy?

Firstly, being positive. A positive attitude towards life must be good to

health. It also brings you power to overcome disease. Secondly, taking exercise

regularly. Taking exercise regularly or even every day helps you build a strong

body which is the base of health. Exercise can improve the ability of the body

to fight disease. Thirdly, making friends, because friendship is an important

part to influence your health. Many studies show that people with a wide range

of social contacts get sick less than those who dont. I always feel better when

I am with friends than when I am alone. Finally, eating properly, having good

rest and building normal daily routine are aslo important to health.

Health is a problem we should attach importance to. Only build a healthy

body can us live a better life.

薄雾袅袅，细雨潇潇的初中生活描绘出青春的灿烂与怅惘;在快乐，憧憬中夹杂着淡淡的忧伤。我的初中生活像那些动人的花，琳琅如同绛紫色的星辰，在蓝天清澈的瞳孔里游弋。
