这部小说的确让我感到沉重，我觉得《活着》是一部超越个体情感而站在人类关怀的高度进行的创作。人的一生都不会风平浪静，会经历无数坎坷风雨，但人就是要默默得为了活着而忍受。这个看似荒唐的理由却充满了对生命价值的肯定和人文价值的关怀，任何理由都不是人放弃生命的理由和借口，这个简单却又充满思辩色彩的道理被余华用小说的形式进行了活生生地诠释。

“老人和牛渐渐远去，我听到老人粗哑的令人感动的嗓音在远处传来，他的歌声在空旷的傍晚像风一样飘扬，老人唱道：少年去游荡，中年去掘藏，老年做和尚。”书的最终似乎没有忘记又留下讲述者自我在慢慢降临下来的夜幕中说的一句令人回味的话，“我明白黄昏正在转瞬即逝，黑夜从天而降了。我看到广阔的土地袒露着结实的胸膛，那是召唤的姿态，就像女人召唤着她们的儿女，土地召唤着黑夜来临。”生活就是人生的田地，每一个被播种的苦难都会成长为一个期望。他们就是我们自我的驭手，不管身上承受着什么不管脖子上套着什么，不管肩上负载着什么。
