The Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

On the eve of the new year, each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fireworks to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. Whenpeople meet on the way, they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children indulge themselves in games.

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. 60% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee do not meet people’s expectations, for a park is considered to be a place where the public can have a good time when they are not busy either at home or at work. If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, it will be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city will take on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can be accepted, but it must not be too expensive. Today is the first day of the New Year, the morning of fresh air and

sunshine, mother took me to feel the New Years day outside the atmosphere.

The Autumn Festival

Chinese celebrate the harvest on the Mid-Autumn Festival since ancient times. Its the same as the custom of Thanksgiving Day in North America. The custom of the Mid-Autumn Festival was popular in everywhere in China in the early Tang dynasty. The Mid-Autumn is on August 15 according to lunar calendar, its the festival on which people will worship the moon.

On this night, the moon will be bright in the sky and people will get together to appreciate the moon in the family. The Mid-Autumn Festival was listed as one of Chinas cultural heritage in 2006 and was designed to be a public holiday in 2014. The moon cake is regarded as an indispensable food on Mid-Autumn Festival. People give them to their relatives and friends as gifts or enjoy them in the family party. The traditional moon cake is printed with cheracters "longevity", "blessing", "harmony" and so on. What a funny festival!

Nowadays, there are more and more students becoming short-sighted. Some students get short-sightedness when they are little. There are fifteen students wearing glasses in my class. Being short-sighted is common among students, even in primary school. That is too serious. Therefore, we should protect our eyes carefully. When we are reading and writing, we should keep a standard posture. Besides, we should not watch TV or play computer for too long. They are bad for our eyes. The Huang Mountain is a place of interest. here are lots of tourists seeing sights every day. Years ago, some of them paid no attention to environment protection. They threw about waste paper, plastic bags and tins. Besides, they killed animals, caught birds, destroyed trees and flowers. Worse still,

they often made a fire to cook in the forest. That was dangerous. Changes have taken place now. When tourists leave, they take away rubbish with them. They no longer hunt animals. Plants are also protected. All the tourists carry their lunch in order not to start forest fire. We must sing high praise of the good deeds.
