Like any other English learner, I met a lot of difficulties in learning

English.

First, I found it difficult to understand what I read because most English

words have more than one meaning. Besides, I found it difficult to write in

idiomatic English or put Chinese into idiomatic English. Finally, I couldnt

express in English orally because I had no opportunity to communicate with

native English speakers. Although I often read aloud, this didnt prove to be an

effective way to improve my spoken English.

But I didnt lose heart in removing these obstacles. I tackled English

vocabulary in two ways. First,I tried to understand and memorize the specific

meaning of a word that appears in the context. Second, I enlarge my vocabulary

by learning the dictionary by heart. To overcome Chinese English, I tried to

think in English directly. Although I still had no opportunity to communicate

with native speakers, I improved spoken English by listening to the English

broadcast and writing English composition. This expedient turned out to be

effhctive.

The environment of the city is getting worse and worse today. There are wastes, air pollution and so on. What can we do to save our city? About the wastes, we should sort the wastes, to see if they can be recycle used; use the reusable shopping bag instead of the plastic bags. About the air pollution, we should go to school on foot or by bike; we should also ask our family not to use car as much as possible, take the subway or bus instead. Hometown is the place where a person belongs. Chinese people have special

feelings about their hometown. No matter where they go, they won’t abandon it

and always make some time to visit. My hometown brings me so many happy memories

and I wish it could keep its original face forever.

Two years ago, I lived in my hometown. It is a small village, so people

from oil and coal. As well, they should sponsor conferences to discuss the

these laws. They should also be punished for creating pollution.

Finally, everybody is affected by global warming. Therefore, it is

important that governments involve individuals in the problem solving process.

For example they should encourage households to save as much energy as possible

by using more efficient light bulbs or less hot water. They should also

encourage the public to recycle, and this should be compulsory for everyone.

Another way of saving energy is by public transport systems. Governments should

spend money on public transport to make it as easy as possible for the public to

save energy.

In summary, it is clear that there are a lot of things that governments can

do to prevent global warming. They should involve companies, support scientists

and encourage individuals to protect the planet.

My father is the best person in the world. He cares about me so much. No

matter how busy he is, he always makes out some time to play with me. Now
