Dear Sir,

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

在这奥运年里不辛的事发生了，四川汶川大声了8。0级的大地震，这次地震的威力相当于300多个原子弹的威力，300颗原子弹内不知道能让多少地方变成废墟，但这300多颗原子弹我们中国人们都不怕，大地震中，自救、互救，不在灾区的人民，虽然与灾区人民素不谋面，但心灵相通同样为灾区人民做奉献。在这里可以看出中国人的团结。

再想想昔日，多少人民为了国家的统一，国家的兴旺，不向恶魔低头。多少人在祖国遭受破坏，用自己的血肉之躯，同敌人不屈不挠的斗争。

为了祖国的美好；为了祖国的未来，我们要好好学习，将来用汗水与智慧，让祖国多彩的画上再上美好的一笔。让祖国的巨龙飞得更高，将来祖国一定属于我们的，难道现在我们的祖国不够强大吗？就算强大，我们将来让祖国更强大，和祖国的巨龙一起腾飞吧！

Times are changing day by day. Doing the shopping is easier. Most people

are better-dressed and they enjoy modern life.

Girls are changing, too. There are many differences between the older and

younger generations.

I know a twelve-year-old girl, who, to my surprise, has little time to

play. She told me that she dreamt of being a dancer, so she must learn to dance,

play music and so on. Sometimes, she is out of breath under such pressure, but

she can’t stop because modern life is busy.

In addition, I find those girls know more and more. Although they are

little girls, they know how to dress fashionably. Sometimes they look older than

their age, though.

As an older female, I realize that compared with the modern girls, my

generation is less well-educated and takes part in fewer leisure activities. I

在我的人生中，有许多的第一次，第一次拖地，第一次骑马，第一次洗碗但是，让我印象最深刻的，非第一次骑自行车莫属了。

那是去年的一个暑假的一天，我和妈妈出去散步，在广场上，我看到有的小朋友在骑着自行车。有的单手脱也能骑得洒脱自如。还有的竟然双手脱把，骑得照样悠闲让我看了，心里痒痒的，羡慕极了。便和妈妈商量：妈妈，我也想骑自行车。妈妈乐意地点点头，行，明天下午带你来学！

想着我也可以一展我的车技，心里可乐了。第二天下午，妈妈推着自行车，带着我来到了广场上，说：准备好了吗？COMEON，BABY！我立马跨上自行车，脚踏踏脚，开始运转起来，心想：别的小朋友骑车那么容易，想来，我也能行的！哎呦，我的妈呀，这自行车好像不听话的孩子一样，我要向左转，他非要向右转，让我摔了一跤。

疼死我了。骑车原来没有想象中的那么简单呀，还是还是不学了吧！妈妈看出我的心思，怎么？摔一次跤就有了让你退出不想学的意思了！这可不行！坚持一下吧！骑自行车时，别光顾着看着脚下，你要注视着前方，稳住自行车，保持平衡，踏板要啃稳听了妈妈的话，我又重拴信心继续，这一次，有了妈妈的的指点，嘿，还真容易多了，妈妈帮我扶着车尾，掌握好平衡，骑了一会儿

妈妈开心地说：女儿，看后面，原来妈妈已经离我很远了，原来妈妈没有一直跟上来，我学会了！耶！我学会了！我兴奋地大叫着。

虽然第一次骑车，让我尝到了许多的苦头，不过，比起学会后的喜悦，这点苦头双算得上什么呢？

In the courtyard of my hometown, there is an old phoenix tree that has been

with the town for decades.

Indus trees are not as slim as maple trees, nor are they evergreen like

今天早上，我和妈妈早早地从床上溜下来，为的不仅仅是在堤上买到新鲜的蔬果，更是为了出来呼吸新鲜空气。

我和妈妈开始慢跑，尽情的呼吸新鲜空气，虽然我们来的很早，但是堤上早已有人在晨练了。

堤上的人真是做的事五花八门。有的在跟买菜的小贩讨价还价，有的在面对席家州大声的捶胸呐喊，有人在骑自行车。堤下已有不少勤劳的农民开始耕种，鸡开始鸣叫起来，这叫声似乎唤起了大自然的一切生机。

小草又开始生长了，花儿又绽放出美丽的笑脸；母鸡带着小鸡到席家州附近的草地觅食，鸭子成群的开始下水游泳，牛开始不停地甩这尾巴赶走讨厌的蚊子。大自然变得多么生机勃勃。

远处河东高耸的摩天轮在浓雾中若隐若现，雾像是一道白色的轻纱覆盖住了一切建筑，像是一个人间仙境。

天边那红色的朝霞开始亮了起来，起初是深红的然后逐渐变成了淡粉，最后变成了金黄，旭日慢慢向上升，一刹那天地突然亮起来了，雾渐渐淡了然后逐渐消失，周围的一切事物清晰而明亮。

这次晨练真实感悟颇多啊！

今天，我们读了很多关于保护环境的小短文。我想起曾经在我身边发生的事情。

记得是去年的暑假，我和爸爸一起去鹅湖边散步，走了一段路，我就一个劲的喊口渴，于是，爸爸就在路边的小店给我买了根冰棍。我边吃边走，一会儿就吃完了，随手把冰棍棒往鹅湖里一扔。爸爸看见了，马上提醒我说;“可可，不能乱扔垃圾噢!如果每个人都像你一样往湖里扔垃圾，这美丽的鹅湖不就变成了垃圾湖了。”我羞愧的说：“知道了，我下次一定不乱扔垃圾。”爸爸微笑着抚摸我的头说：“地球也是我们的家，我们应该保护它，爱护它，让天更蓝，水更清，草更绿。”我调皮的说：“噢，那就是大家一直说的，城市是我家，环境清洁靠大家。我明白了。”让从那以后，我再也不乱扔垃圾了。

我想爱护环境与每个人息息相关，所以要从每个人做起!

今天是放寒假的第五天，正好是小年，而我和爸妈却一点也没闲着，我们好容易从12306网站上抢到了车票，便匆匆开启了我们的洛阳之行。

12：30分，我们在洛阳站下了火车，便匆匆前往我们在洛阳旅行的第一站：天子六驾博物馆。坐上公交车，大约几分钟就到了目的地，下车后，我们就见到了大门（我的心怦怦的跳着，很快，我们就买了门票进了门。

一进门，就看见了一个十分巨大的木简放在那里，然后我们去左边看，只见一个十分巨大的玻璃展柜里，放着许多青铜器，看上去仍十二分的精美，把我又拉到了20xx多年前的周朝：在皇宫里，周武王正拿着一个玉杯，听着一旁的人敲着编钟，正悠闲地坐在皇椅上，感觉好不自在呀······这时，妈妈拍拍我的肩膀，把我从幻想中拉了回来，又说：“鸣子，你瞅瞅这儿。”我一看，可不是吗，只见另一个展柜里放着一堆子大大小小共几百个瓦罐，真是琳琅满目，数不胜数。随后，我们便来到了车马坑展厅，只见共有大小两个坑，一个很小，并且很浅，而另一个坑却非常的巨大，并且有两米深，共几十匹骏马（当然是在20xx多年前了）。然后我又看了看旁边的解释图，原来，当时有一条规定，便是天子驾六，诸侯驾四，大夫驾三，士驾二，庶人驾一。而大车马坑是一位天子的，所以，就是六匹马六匹马的放，而且还有70只小狗，而另一个是一位诸侯的，所以只有四匹马陪葬。而两者相差了500年。看完了这个，我又进入了幻想：周王带兵出去打仗，只见他高高的坐在车上，一身令下，万箭齐射，随后，大喊一声：“冲啊！”几千精兵和数百条狗，一起冲上阵地，和敌人厮杀起来，结果大获全胜，大败敌军，赢得了胜利······看完了这些，我们便离开了博物馆，太阳早已不在火辣，但我的心却久久不能平静，我想，两千多年前的人们能造出这么金碧辉煌的器具，实在令人佩服不已。

伴着西斜的太阳，我们来到宾馆，我想，这里，我一定要再来看看！

Nowadays, Hollywood movies dominate the market and many young people take

these superheroes characters as their idols. So some people start to feel

disappointed about the local culture, because they havent seen its essence. As

the world gets globalization, it is in need of building peoples sense of local

cultural heritage.

The preservation of our cultural heritage is the necessary task. The

culture contains the essence of Chinese peoples spirit, which has been tested

by time. When people admit our culture, we will be proud of being part of the

country, so as to enhance the unity and have the desire to make a contribution

to the society. The loss of cultural heritage will destroy a country, which can

be seen in history.

As the young generation faces the cultural shock in the globalization, so

they are easy to deny the local culture, because they know little about it. Thus

school should implant the education of culture and the government has named a

day called Chinese Cultural Heritage Day, in the purpose of advocating the

essence of local culture. When children grow up, they will fight for protecting

the culture.

5月4日是一个特殊的日子。5月4日既是青年节又是我的生日。这是我的第13个生日，在这一天的下午学校举行了五四文艺汇演。主题是“青春的旋律”，而恰好我在这次文艺汇演中表演一个舞蹈，算是庆祝青年节也算是庆祝自己的生日。

这次文艺汇演的主题是“青春的旋律”，所以这次汇演中所有的节目都和“青春”这个主题息息相关，都展现了作为新一代我们的风采。在众多节目中，给我留下印象最深的是乐器演奏《梁祝》，这个节目中包含了3种乐器它们分别是萨克斯、小提琴和琵琶。中国乐器与西洋乐器巧妙地结合在一起，构成了一首旋律动听的《梁祝》，让我们在享受音乐的同时也重温了经典。其次给我留下深刻印象的是有高二的哥哥姐姐们表演的舞台剧，它讲述了作为青年的我们必经的过程。从最初爱看葫芦娃、大头儿子小头爸爸、哪吒的我们，到在篮球赛场上挥洒汗水、开始跳一些充满活力的舞蹈，还有要面对中考、高考……还有柔情似水的《蝶恋花》、令人捧腹大笑的相声、令人叫绝的古筝、二胡、快板、动听的女声独唱、男声独唱、活力四射的现代舞、朝气蓬勃的诗朗诵、最后还有那时刻提醒我们注意“道”和“德”的《第子规》演唱…我们是祖国的花朵、祖国的栋梁、祖国的未来，让我们一起携手向美好的明天奔去！

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 o’clock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 o’clock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

寒假期间，我的生活没有什么不同。每天早上十一点我醒来，洗后，我和我的父母有一个很好的午餐。然后我玩电脑游戏，直到吃晚饭的时间。晚餐后。我继续玩到凌晨二点，然后去睡觉了。这是我寒假无聊的一天。

我滚啊滚呀，滚到了森林里。咦?今天怎么这么安静呢?原来动物们都去给狮子大王过生日去了。我接着滚呀滚，在不远处看到了一只油嘴滑舌的老狐狸。我一看大事不妙，赶快滚到了远处，可是那只狐狸还是看见了我。它三步并成两步，飞快地跑向了我，把我拿起来说道：“小呀小苹果，我正愁给狮子大王送什么，你就送上门来了。你说，我不把你送人也怪可惜的，所以你还是乖乖地让我把你送给大王吧。”我心里想：“完了完了，我这回死定了，竟然要当狮子的盘中餐。不行，我得想个办法。”我灵机一动，想到了一个好办法。我诚恳地说：“狐狸大爷，我是真的想见狮子，可是你看我表皮鲜红，一定打了农药。如果你不洗一洗的话，狮子吃了有可能会中毒，到那时候，你可就小命不保了哟。”狐狸说：“那倒也是，不过你可别耍什么花招。”我说：“狐狸大爷，我能耍什么花招呀。”“那好吧。”狐狸刚把我放到水里，我努力逃脱，不一会就逃了出来。狐狸一看我逃了出来，大声叫道：“不，你回来!”我说：“再见了，老狐狸!跟我斗，你还嫩了点。”

我滚呀滚，滚到了一条小河边，在那里我遇到了另一个历险的苹果。我主动打招呼：“你好呀!我叫锅盖，你叫什么名字?”他说：“我叫瓦片，很高兴认识你。”我们一起去了苹果游乐国玩，又一起去了苹果餐厅吃东西。

我们滚呀滚，最后滚到了一个果酱厂，在那里遇到了很多同伴，与同伴们一起做成了苹果酱。后来，我们被送进了超市。一位女人把我们买走了，我又开始了新的历险……

In the afternoon, I played a ball with my friends and washed my clothes. At night, I went to bed at 9:00.

This is my last weekend.what a busy one!

冬爷爷走了，带走了刺骨的寒风。春姑娘走过了我们的身旁：公园里，柳树旁，都留着春姑娘的足迹。你看，她用颜料染红了桃花，映绿了柳树。

呀！一条小金鱼！你看它红色的身体，金色的尾巴，我想，他一定是金鱼中的名模吧。小河边围绕着一丛丛小草，他们从土地妈妈的怀抱里伸出了小脑袋，东看看，西看看，好像对什么都有好奇心。我拨开小草，一看。呀！一群小蚂蚁正在运货呢。

走进树林里，金黄的迎春花在向我招手，红艳艳的桃花，雪白的梨花，都在一起迎着春风，翩翩起舞。不知什么时候，飞来了一群小蝴蝶，穿着一件件美丽的新衣服，自由自在的风舞着。

春天，带来了我的快乐，在我眼里，它是一幅画，你觉得呢？

“呀呼！”我最喜欢的电影《逆战》今天又要播出了，高兴的同时，我的心里又生出一些担心，我担心爸爸又要和我抢电视。

有句话说得好“先下手为强，后下手遭殃。”我得先把遥控器藏起来，藏哪呢？哎，有了，爸爸从来不看报纸，就藏在报纸里。

吃过一顿香喷喷的晚饭，我准备看电视时，尿憋不住了，我奔向厕所，又赶快跑出来，担心的事还是发生了，爸爸已经拿到了遥控器，他怎么拿到的呢？我想，是因为看不到电视，身边刚好有报纸，就拿起来看，结果发现了遥控器。我扭头看了一下时间，七点四十，八点电影就开了，我要争取在二十分钟内抢到遥控器。正当我无从下手时，“救星”来了，妈妈突然大叫：“快来帮帮我，把桌子移一移。”爸爸踢腿就跑，机会来了，我装作没事的样子走过去，看到遥控器，一把拿起，赶紧换在电影频道，咦？怎么没反应，我把遥控器一翻，发现电池少了一节。“怎么样，斗不过老爸吧。”硬的不行来软的，我央求爸爸：“我就看一次，以后全你看，行不行？”“那也不行，我还想说这句话呢，而且，你已经看过一次了。”“那好书还要多看几遍，细细品味，电影不一样？”读书有助学习，电影可不是有助学习的。“我被问得哑口无言，这回看不成了。

谁知，看了一会儿，爸爸竟然主动把电视让给了我，我拿着遥控器看了起来，没过一会儿，我也有点不好意思了，爸爸毕竟是我的长辈。我关掉电视，走进书房看书。

真希望这种谦让能一直存在。

小时候，可以听妈妈讲故事，不想长大；小时候，可以玩玩具枪，不想长大；小时候，可以自由自在的玩，不用上学，不想长大······可是不知不觉，我已经三年级了。我现在觉的长大了也很好，因为可以学到很多很多的文化知识，知道的道理就多了，可以做个有用的人。长得高大了，还可以做许许多多小时候想做但不能做的事情。所以我有时回想童年的趣事，但是我还是喜欢现在的生活，因为我想变成有用的人。

有一次，我看见妈妈要做饭，又要洗菜，我马上跑过去帮妈妈洗菜，洗完了帮妈妈切菜。妈妈说：“我儿子长大了，懂事了。”

我现在觉得长大的感觉还真好！

舅舅家的村子里，元宵节的时候，有个习俗就是舞龙灯。那时他们的龙灯称为板凳龙，是由很多很多的花灯固定在一块块宽宽的板上面，然后一块连接一块，作为龙身子，加上龙头和龙尾，就组成了一条长长的美丽的板凳龙。

到了元宵节前，家家户户都在家里设计制作花灯。长的板凳龙，有好几百节组成呢，各种各样美丽的花灯，浩浩荡荡的，场面可壮观了。

外公在世的时候就自己制作过龙灯。先挑选很粗的木头锯成一块块宽宽的木板，在木板的两头打上用于串联其他龙灯的孔。其次设计花灯的形状，用竹篾制作花灯的模型，买来各种彩纸糊在模型上，一盏美丽的龙灯就这么做成了。然后把这美丽的龙灯固定在这块宽宽的木板上，然后等除夕一过，在大家商定好的某个日子，各家各户把制作好的龙灯从家里抗出来，在操场上集中排队，比比谁家的龙灯设计最奇特，看看谁家的龙灯糊得最漂亮，把所有的龙灯首尾相连，一条美丽的板凳龙就这么诞生了。当然，一条板凳龙最重要的是龙头，龙头的形状也是不同的，有仰龙，有卧龙。而舅舅村子里的板凳龙的龙头是仰头式的，一般会由好几户人家一起合作制作而成的，而且摆放在固定的位置，龙头前会供奉一些水果啥的，看上去比较神圣的。

妈妈说，以前舞龙灯，是为了祈求风调雨顺，让农民伯伯们在新的一年里有个好收成。现在舞龙灯，是为了丰富大家的业余生活，活跃元宵的喜庆气氛，图的就是开心快乐。

A little monkey picks up a pumpkin and wants to take it home.But the pumpkin is toobig.The monkey cant take it home.

Suddenly he sees a panda riding a bike towards him. He watches the bike. "l have a good idea. I can roll the pumpkin. It likes a wheel."

So he rolls the pumpkin to his home. When his mother sees the big pumpkin, she is surprised and says, "How can you carry it home?" The little monkey answers proudly, "l cant lift it, but l can roll it." His mother smiles and says, " What a clever boy!"
