Dear Sir,

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. i wake up 11 oclock am everyday, after a washing, i have a good lunch with my parents. next i play computer games till the time to have supper. after have dinner. i go on playing till 2 oclock am, and then go to sleep with tired. this is one dull day of my winter vacation.

I have a dream. Compared toMartin Luther King’s, my dream is very small. I

want to be a teacher in the future. And then I can have a two long vacations for

traveling. I can travel around the world. I can go America, Canada, New York,

一个星期后，我们来到了师专体育场。刚到那儿，50米预赛就要开始了，我正好没事，就当起了啦啦队和后勤队。一声枪响，参加50米的“陶子”冲了出去，在这短短的8秒里，我们都紧张极了。3、2、1！梅思梦第一名！我和“燕燕”欢呼起来，我走到“陶子”身边，扶住她说：“决赛还要加油哦！”她狠狠瞪我一眼：“我都累得脚都发软了！”然后，我们两个人开怀大笑起来，旁边的女生也笑了起来。

我参加的跳高预赛马上就要开始了，我连忙换上钉鞋，准备比赛。刚开始，站在起跑线上的我脑子一片空白，把老师的话忘到十万八千里之后去了。结果，十分可惜，我只拿了第二名，没有进入决赛。接力和跳远的成绩都更别说了。

运动会结束后，我回到家里，呆呆地望着屋顶，总觉得心里少了些什么。不是没有拿奖的遗憾，也不是结束后的轻松，而在田径队训练时一心想着偷懒，身体上的苦，比其他田径队的朋友的苦少得多，那时我可是在心里沾沾自喜。一想到今后不能和朋友们一边跑步一边谈笑；不能硬着头皮听老师的训斥；不能再追着体训队的男队员大喊着要揍人。我开始后悔当初为什么要逃跑、躲避训练。如果我早看到，看清这一点，就会早点醒悟了吧。

只有努力了才会有收获，机会是不停留的。不要等逝去才后悔当时的一切。——正是因为这许许多多的第一次，才让我们明白人生的道理。

在我成长的过程中，有许多令人快乐的事，有一件事我一直忘不了。

下雨了！滴答，滴答，雨滴落在叶丛中，发出闹心的响声，我的心情糟透了。早晨出门时还是晴空万里，但现在却是乌云密码，阴雨连连，怎么办？妈妈会来吗？说好今天她忙让我自己回家的。

等了十几分钟，雨一点也没有要小的趋势，哗啦啦，雨更大了，似乎在向我宣战。看着天越来越黑，街上的人一点一点减少，连车也逐渐变少，我的心里又气又急，走吧！我用书包挡在头上，准备冒雨回家。可这雨好像故意和我作对似的，刚冲进雨地，我的鞋里，脸上，身上全湿了，又潮又冷，肚子也不争气地叫起来，一贯爱耍娇气的我，脸上不知是眼泪，还是雨水？我正低着头向前走，突然“雨停了”！我抬头一看，原来是妈妈撑着一把伞，急忙忙地向我跑来。

妈妈气喘吁吁地说：“对不起，妈妈来晚了，路上不好走，让你淋雨了。”妈妈边说，边拿过我的书包，将我拥在她伞下。于是我和妈妈同打一把伞，牵着手，一起往回跑去。

雨下得更大了，豆大的雨点打在伞上，发出“砰、砰”的声响，它们似乎还想欺负我，可妈妈温暖的胳膊紧紧地搂着我，潮湿、寒冷、饥饿一下子全不见了，这一刻我感到无比的快乐。

As we all know, pollution is harmful to living beings. There are many

different types of pollutions in this world. For instance, water pollution, air

pollution, noise pollution and so on. Water pollution cause many kinds of

disease that have negative effects on human beings, sometimes the diseases will

take people’s life away. Dirty air will increase the rate of getting lung

cancer. While the noise pollution will cause insomnia. People’s health condition

will be damaged.

In my humble opinion, people should take measures to control the pollution.

Recently, not only the government, but also individual has taken part in the

action of protecting the environment. This is a good sign. Rivers are being

cleaned, air is purified, and the people come to realize that the importance of

protecting the environment.

However, this is not enough, the problems are still exist. Not all of them

have been solved. Some factories are still pouring dirty water into the rivers

or give off the toxic gas into the sky. We should know that protecting the

environment needs everybody’s effort.

New Year is the biggest festival for Chinese people. After about half a

month, there is a traditional festival, it is the Lantern Festival, which is

also important. The first round moon day in the New Year is special. People

continue to celebrate the New Year and enjoy the time with their families.

The coming of Lantern Festival is various. Some people said that it is

related with Buddha. When the Buddhas meditated, they need light in front of

them, so the light can drive away monster for people. Today, in some areas,

people light up lanterns to beg for a son from god. No matter what the story is,

the traditional festival is favored by people and the government pays special

attention to remind this tradition.

There are many activities on Lantern Festival, and the most traditional

game is the riddle. People can read some riddles that are written in the

lanterns. They can get prizes if they know the answers. I love riddle so much,

because when I figure out the answers, I will be very proud of myself, at the

same time, I can learn some funny knowledge.

护士生气了，说还算是男子汉呢，没见过我这样没有勇气的小孩。在羞愧不已的同时，我的心里还是很矛盾，就是鼓不起勇气。我犹豫着，是抽呢?还是不抽呢?不抽吧，我的病不但好不了，还得挨大人说;抽吧，又要忍受剧痛。在我的眼中，那只小小的针头已变得又粗又大。

我用企求的目光望着妈妈说：“我不想抽血。”妈妈说：“你已经是大孩子了，要有勇气。”这时，我也想起了爸爸经常对我说的一句话：如果有一件事，你很不想做，但这件事又必须去做，那么你就要鼓足勇气，克服困难，踏踏实实地去做。思前想后，我终于找回了勇气，把胳膊伸了出来。

Christmas Day is on December 25th. It was originated in the western

country, but today, this festival has been celebrated by the world. For the

manufacturers, they are very happy to make this day as a shopping day. I enjoy

the great atmosphere.

I had a very special Christmas day last year. I experienced the western

style festival. There was a new foreign teacher taught us the lesson. She was

about 50 years old and she was very kind and we all liked her. On Christmas Day,

she brought us the desserts she made early in the morning. We enjoyed the

home-made cakes. Whats more, she invited us to came to her house and spent the

day with her. Then for the first time, I ate big turkey, which was so delicious.

The turkey was filled with many stuffs and the flavor was so good. After dinner,

we sang songs and danced.

Thanks to my foreign teacher, I experienced the American style festival. It

was such funny for me. Though today many people enjoy shopping in all kinds of

festivals, the meaning of these festival should be remembered.

朝霞绚丽多彩，与那刚升起的红日遥相呼应，仿佛是人世间最美的景致。可是，晚霞的美丽也毫不逊色呀。

傍晚，太阳暗淡了下来，红的不再那么耀眼，金的不再那么灿烂。慢慢的，慢慢的，霞光映红了半边天。云，不在那么洁白如玉，就像哪位画家一不小心碰翻了装满颜料的调色盘一样，将它染上了鲜艳的颜色。红、黄、葡萄灰、茄子紫、半灰半百合色，还有些听也没听过，见也没见过的颜色都呈现在云的身上，令人大饱眼福。

过了一会儿，夕阳西下，太阳成了一个深红色的皮球，已经有一半沉进了地平线。天空一边深蓝，一边浅蓝，仿佛一个蓝色色相环。云的颜色也加深了不少，他们和太阳一样，也是深红的，似乎快要变成黑色了。

太阳沉进了山头，漂亮的彩云也不见了。漫长的黑夜来临了……

爸爸妈妈爷爷和我共同组成一个和睦的大家庭，一到星期六晚上，这和睦可就变了味儿。因为谁都想看电视，便引发了电视争夺战。这不又到了星期六晚上，我们家又会爆发怎样的电视争夺战呢？

这天晚上刚上完辅导班的我飞也似的冲进家门，立马打开电视机。接着，就舒舒服服的躺在沙发上，享受着电视给我带来快乐！

一会儿爸爸回来了，还来不及放下文件包，就一个箭步跑过来，一下子夺走我的遥控器，调到体育频道，这下子我的目光从电视上猛的移到了爸爸身上，不同的是，我刚才是面带微笑，而现在是怒目而视，我愤怒的向爸爸大喊：“爸爸，你还我的电视，还我的动画片！”爸爸一撇嘴说“哎呀淑女大叫大嚷可不好，孩子，要注意一下形象啊”显然他没把我放到眼里，我正要火山爆发，妈妈回来了，她一进门就说：“电视剧，我来啦”我本来还想向妈妈求救，现在没希望了，唉，只能靠自己努力奋斗了。我火山爆发啦：啊……还我动画片，还我电视，冲过来调到动画片。

这时爷爷拎这鸟笼子回来了，说：“呦，对了，看戏看戏”爷爷手中的鹦鹉也学着说：“看戏看戏”。

接着，对门的王爷爷进来了，说：“走啊，老张，老年文化中心有节目，让咱们去唱戏。”一听这个，爷爷很痛快的就走了，爸爸妈妈也说：“走，看爷爷唱戏去！”说完就走了。

哈哈，这下电视是我的啦！

一年一度的春节到了，家家户户都喜气洋洋，乐意融融。春节有许多习俗，比如：贴春联、贴“福”字、放鞭炮等等。让我们一起了解他们吧。

春联，俗称“门对”、“对子”，雅称“楹联”。喜庆的大红春联就是对联的一种，在春节时张贴，故称春联。这是古代汉族民俗文化，表达了汉族劳动人民的一种辟邪除灾，迎祥纳福的美好愿望。今年春节来临之际，我为外公外婆和几个舅舅舅妈，还有几个邻居阿姨送上我亲手写的大红春联，并送上了我的祝福。

“爆竹声中一岁除，春风送暖入屠苏。”在中国，爆竹声响就是辞旧迎新的标志。记得我很小的时候，每次听到窗外噼里啪啦的声响就吓得哇哇大哭。等大了些，我和姐姐总喜欢趴在窗口看爸爸放烟花，五彩缤纷的烟花照亮了半边天。再大了些爸爸会带我们一起玩鞭炮，我们总是玩得不亦乐乎。

如今，我们了解了许多烟花爆竹的危害，会造成空气污染，会产生很多垃圾，也可能造成人身危害，所以，我希望大家可以减少燃放烟花爆竹，为我们美好的生活环境出一份力。

我们还有许多过年的习俗，守岁、发红包等等。在新的一年里，祝大家万事如意，天天开心。我又长大了一岁，愿我在新的一年中努力学习，天天向上！
