We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.

The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

梁山好汉中的三位女将可以说结局都并不怎么好。扈三娘红颜薄命，她要忍着杀父、杀夫之仇，被宋江乱点鸳鸯谱，使其行尸走肉般活着，她的心早已死去。顾大嫂虽然最后走上了经商之路，但施老并未交代她的生死命运，而且在梁山泊默默无闻的淡笔调描写也暗示了她并不出彩的一生。三女中我最欣赏的是孙二娘，在征方腊时的混乱杀戮天堂中不慎被杜微的飞刀取其首级，令不少读者扼腕叹息。可我认为她的命运比扈三娘的“心死”和顾大嫂的“死不了”要强。至少，她是死在了自己选择的征战杀戳的道路上。她地壮星替阎王老儿收了这么多的性命，终究还是要“偿还”的吧。

为什么说孙二娘是三女中我最欣赏的一个呢？因为她不会隐忍！虽然一时的隐忍不能算坏事，说不定还能使其大获成功，但一旦隐忍成一种习惯、一种性格，那么这个人会是失败的，譬如逆来顺受的林冲。孙二娘说话做事从来都是一吐为快、干脆利落。太直爽的性格也会有很大的缺点，譬如做事鲁莽的李逵。但孙二娘的性格当中不失精明，而正是这一点精明让她不失谨慎。可惜的是，在长期杀戮之中，她丢失了理性与谨慎，失去了谨慎，她就只是一台杀人的机器，变得毫无女性之长。而再勇猛也猛不过男人，这时她就要被阎王老儿或说是施老给召回了。

如果说不隐忍、谨慎是她的本性使然，那她的一身义气就给她的个性魅力锦上添花了，即有“男子汉气概”，又不失“女人味”。她和张青因为拜把子兄弟武松的一句话就放弃祖辈家业，落草去了，真是干净利落，这一点也是我欣赏她的原因之一。她行事果断，从不犹豫不决，更不会被各种利益所左右，这是我十分佩服却做不到的地方。而“义气”是什么？义气很概念、很缥缈，很难用语言解释清楚，可是从孙二娘的实际例子就能感受到所谓“义气”的存在：其他好汉上梁山可以用四个字形容——“逼上梁山”，而孙二娘、张青夫妇却是“自上梁山”，是心甘情愿的。当时的武松也从没逼他俩一定要上山为寇，就一句话，“去还是不去”，孙二娘自然是当机立断选择了前者。这种义气，即使作者不点明，相信读者心中一定也感受到了吧。

试着比较一下孙二娘和潘金莲，她们同为行者武松的嫂嫂（一位亲哥哥，一位结拜），两女年纪也相仿，也都有不逊常人的姿色。可两人的作为可以说是云泥之别了。如果说潘金莲是小家碧玉，那孙二娘就是大家闺秀。孙二娘的父亲是江湖老前辈，自

幼将她当作男儿来养，并没有像世俗家庭一样把女子锁进深闺，在那种年代培养出了一位女中豪杰。而潘金莲的父亲也不知为何把金莲指嫁给了武大郎。从某种意义上说，潘金莲从一出场就注定是一个悲剧。孙二娘性格泼辣，讲义气，注重的是精神；而潘金莲与之相反，注重的则是物质。如果潘金莲也像孙二娘一样懂义气为何、精神为何，那也就不会有之后的一系列事故，并成为女性耻辱的代名词了。

先不说孙二娘武艺过人，就她那做的人肉包子配上她那清脆又豪放不羁的话语足以让她成为经典。孙二娘嗜杀成性，做人肉包子也只是小试牛刀，在沙场上才有她真正的用武之地。在梁山泊上，孙二娘夫妇二人在西山开着酒店迎宾打探消息，日子过得也十分惬意。然而，宋江招安后，好汉们被迫奔赴沙场，化身杀戮机器，也满足了孙二娘的杀人欲望。在战场上，孙二娘的人物个性得到了最大的张扬，但是如烟花般很快由灿烂归为死寂，地壮星陨落了……

孙二娘出现的回目远远不足宋江等人，但给世人的印象却很深。江湖上人称“母夜叉”，也就成了她独特的标识。“夜叉”其实在佛教中是一种能吃人的恶魔。一位女子就像能吃人的恶魔一般，在那个动荡的时代着实很有威慑力，光是名号就这么威风的一个女人在为人处事方面自然是“霸气”的代名词啊！她宛若一株带着尖刺的血色玫瑰，别样的魅力更使整个人物的形象深入人心了。
