Hello ！welcome to the special Chinese new years edition of discovering China. Im Alina Li and Im Ben Hedges, and today well be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.

The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

诸葛亮，字孔明，“身长八尺，面如冠玉，头戴纶巾，身披鹤氅，飘飘然有神仙之慨”，是我最喜欢的历史人物。他躬耕陇亩，高卧草堂，自号“卧龙先生”。他乐于事农桑树，本来并不想参与政事，但是，他被刘备思贤若渴、礼贤下士的精神所感动，为了报答刘备的知遇之恩，他在隆中为刘备谋划了建国策略，并决心亲自出山相助，为刘备建立功业鞠躬尽瘁。

奇人必有奇才。孔明出山以后，第一次博望坡用兵，在新野地这个小地方，靠几千人马，居然杀退了夏侯惇的十万大军，赢得了关羽、张飞的“拜伏”。从此打开了刘备争夺霸权的新局面。

孔明足智多谋，具有远见卓识。他主张北让曹操占天时，南让孙权占地利，刘备信义卓著，可占人和。为此，他决定先取荆州为家，后夺四川建立基业，这样就可以成鼎足之势，然后再图中原。为了联合孙吴共同抵抗曹操，他纵谈天下形势，火烧新野地，舌战群儒。他明知道周瑜年轻气盛，妒才嫉能，却能处处顾全大局，果敢沉着，巧妙地利用鲁肃作掩护，草船借箭，既使周瑜的陷害不能如愿以偿，又不让孙刘联盟分道扬镳。终于在赤壁之战后，他趁势占领了荆襄九群。他三气周瑜，致使周瑜临死只有“既生瑜，何生亮”的慨叹。

孔明赏罚分明，严于律己。他知道司马懿的大军必取街亭，决定派马谡把守，并一再嘱咐“街亭虽小，干系甚重，倘街亭有失，吾大军休矣！汝虽通谋略，此地奈无城郭，又无险阻，守之极难。”不料，马谡自高自大，浮夸骄敌，拘泥“兵法”，任意违反孔明的军令，不听部下的建议，刚愎自用，致使街亭失守。孔明执法严明，一方面“挥泪斩马谡”，正军纪以服众；一方面又仁至义尽，答应死后照顾他的一家老小。对于自己，他也不推卸责任，痛悔用人不明，自作表文申奏后主，“请自贬丞相之职”。

刘备死后，孔明忠心耿耿地辅佐后主刘禅，外拒曹魏，内征蛮番，博纳众议，整顿军纪，七擒孟获，六出祁山，最后积劳成疾，壮志未酬，死在北伐曹魏的军营里，真正做到了鞠躬尽瘁，死而后已。被司马懿赞叹是“天下奇才”，被杜甫感叹：“出师未捷身先死，长使英雄泪满巾。”

Xian was called Changan in Han Dynasty. The connotation of "Changan" is "a place of permanent peace". It was not until the prosperous Tang Dynasty that Changan became famous both at home and abroad as the largest and busiest international metropolis of that age in the world. Xian obtained its present name in 1369. It stands first on the six largest ancient capitals. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Xian was the largest city in the world. Changan, was linked to many central Asian regions and Europe via the Silk Road, with thousands of foreign traders living the city.

Xian is the capital of Shaanxi Province and also the political, economic and cultural center of the Northwest China. With the development of travel industry and the implementation of the open policy, it has become one of the nations key tourist cities and tourism has become the mainstay in Shaanxis economy.

Xian lies at longitude 103? east by latitude 34?north, and 412 meters above sea level. It has an average annual temperature of 13癈, and an average annual precipitation of 604 mm. The rainy season comes in July, August and September. The city now has under its jurisdiction eight districts -- Xincheng, Beilin, Lianhu, Yanta, Weiyang, Baqiao, Lintong and Yangling, and five counties -- Changan, Lantian, Huxian, Zhouzhi and Gaoling. As a whole, Xian covers an area of 9,983 square kilometers and has population of 5,860,000. The city proper occupies an area 861 square kilometers, and reaches a population of 2,650,000.

With an elevation of 500 metres, the Weihe Plain extends between Baoji in the west and Tongguan in the east and borders the Qinling Mountains in the south and the Huangtu Plateau in the north. Lying in the warm zone, the plain has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Chequered with the Weihe, Jinghe, Luohe, and Bahe rivers as well as the Jinghui, Weihui and Luohui canals, the fertile land on the plain has easy access to irrigation facilities and an abundant yield of farm produce. Xian lies in the centre to the south of this plain, a favourable geographical location surrounded by water and hills.

多啦A梦的别名叫：机器猫、叮当猫。它全身都是蓝色的，长着一双明亮的大眼睛，火红的圆鼻子，宽大的嘴巴，脖子上挂着一个金灿灿的铃铛，圆鼓鼓的肚子，它肚子前有一个小袋子，别看那小袋子小，其实里面有各种道具：竹蜻蜓任意门、缩小放大灯、空气炮……这些工具各有各的用途。

哆啦A梦喜欢吃铜锣烧，它很喜欢帮助别人，因为大雄是个懒惰、懦弱、冒失但是重视友情的人，所以哆啦a梦就留下来帮助大雄，只要大雄有困难，哆啦a梦会立马帮助大雄。

在正面伙伴蒙面侠中，未来的大雄戴着蒙面侠的面具，来帮助大雄，大雄误解了哆啦A梦是在帮他，最后哆啦A梦得知了是未来的大雄来帮大雄的。在坐地下铁中善良的大雄得知明天是爸爸的生日，想让爸爸以后不再座拥挤的地铁，大雄请求哆啦A梦帮他，哆啦A梦帮助了他，可最后被修地铁的工人阻止了。

在《水浒传》这么一本讲述江湖好汉、手足情义的书中，正义、武艺高强的女性便成了稀物。梁山泊一百零八将，“女汉子”仅仅只有三位而已。而我认为真正能配得上“女汉子”这一称号的只有“母夜叉”孙二娘。

梁山好汉中的三位女将可以说结局都并不怎么好。扈三娘红颜薄命，她要忍着杀父、杀夫之仇，被宋江乱点鸳鸯谱，使其行尸走肉般活着，她的心早已死去。顾大嫂虽然最后走上了经商之路，但施老并未交代她的生死命运，而且在梁山泊默默无闻的淡笔调描写也暗示了她并不出彩的一生。三女中我最欣赏的是孙二娘，在征方腊时的混乱杀戮天堂中不慎被杜微的飞刀取其首级，令不少读者扼腕叹息。可我认为她的命运比扈三娘的“心死”和顾大嫂的“死不了”要强。至少，她是死在了自己选择的征战杀戳的道路上。她地壮星替阎王老儿收了这么多的性命，终究还是要“偿还”的吧。

为什么说孙二娘是三女中我最欣赏的一个呢？因为她不会隐忍！虽然一时的隐忍不能算坏事，说不定还能使其大获成功，但一旦隐忍成一种习惯、一种性格，那么这个人会是失败的，譬如逆来顺受的林冲。孙二娘说话做事从来都是一吐为快、干脆利落。太直爽的性格也会有很大的缺点，譬如做事鲁莽的李逵。但孙二娘的性格当中不失精明，而正是这一点精明让她不失谨慎。可惜的是，在长期杀戮之中，她丢失了理性与谨慎，失去了谨慎，她就只是一台杀人的机器，变得毫无女性之长。而再勇猛也猛不过男人，这时她就要被阎王老儿或说是施老给召回了。
