Many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction, because the environment that they are living in has changed greatly. For example, with the developmet of cities, the using of insecticide and serious pollution, their living areas have become narrowcr and narrower. Many of the wild animals, now are confronted with food crisis. At the same time, man is killing off species just for getting their fur, skin, horns, teeth and meat.

In order to protect our resources of ecology, people should realize that the loss of any species is at least the loss of source of knowledge and a source of natural beauty. There fore, measures of the following should be taken: pollution standards are made to keepdown poisons; killing off certain rare species is prohibited; national parks should be set up as wild life, reserves.

Only if we human beings take some drastic measures can wild animals be preserved.

许多野生动物正面临绝种的危险，因为它们生活的环境发生了极大的变化。譬 如，随着城市的发展，杀虫剂的使用和严重的污染，野生动物的生活区域变得越来越狭小。许多野生动物目前正面临着食物方面的危机。同时，为了获取野生动物的毛、皮、角、牙齿和肉，人类正在屠杀野生动物。

为了保护生态资源，人们应当意识到任何物种的缺失，至少意味着知识资源和自然美的缺失。因此，应采取以下措施：制订污染标准以降低有毒物质;严禁杀害某些稀有物种;应建立国家公园作为野生动植物保护区。

夏天，天气闷热，大多数的人都会在空调房里待着，看看电视什么的，这样又浪费电，又伤害眼睛，就拿我们家当例子吧，每个月至少可以用249度电，那两个月就是498度电，三个月就是747度电……一年用2988度电。全国有十多亿人口，如果都像我们家一样，那每个月就得用249000000度电，这是一个多么惊人的数字啊!再说了，长时间待在空调房里的人们很容易得空调病，大量的氟力昂也会污染空气，使天气一下子又热了许多，那又不用电，又可以保护眼睛，又能保持人体的健康，该怎么做呢?就来听听我的建议吧!

吃完晚饭，我们可以动员一家人出去散散步，这样就可以不怎么用电了，又帮助消化，又不用电，还能让心灵的窗户——眼睛，得到保护……真是一举多得啊!如果这样可以节约两度电，那一个月(30天)就可以节约60度电，两个月就是120度电，三个月就是360度电……一年(365天)就是730度电，十年(3650天)就是7300度电，下面以次类推。这样也不比整天待在空调房里差啊，你说是不是啊?

让我们行动起来，保护环境，对污染空气说‘no’，我相信，只要我们大家一起行动，我们的世界将会变得更加美丽!

雾霾，是现在人们经常提起的一种天气，那么，大家知道它的主要成份吗？现在我就来讲一讲雾霾。

雾霾的主要成分是60%是水蒸气，其余40%全是酸、碱、盐、酚、病原微生物等有害物质，比例通常比大气水滴高出几十倍，对人体健康形成危害。起雾时气压低，污染物与空气中的水分相结合，将不易扩散与沉降，有害物质易滞留在某处，导致某个区域聚集浓度较高，组成雾核的颗粒又很容易被人体吸入，当人体呼吸的时候，这些物质刺激人体某些敏感部位后，会引起咽喉炎、气管炎、结膜炎和一些过敏性疾病，中医称之为“疠疫之气”，对于老年体弱者还可能危及生命。大家想一想，平时我们走在大街上时，那些清洁工，哪些不是爷爷奶奶？他们长期起早贪黑天天得吸多少雾霾中的微生物呀！

现在，河南省多地出现了雾霾天气，目前已经有15个市县发布雾霾天气黄色橙色预警。其中在10号当天郑州市城区空气质量信息发布系上，9个监测点8个都闪烁着红色，污染级别达到了6级，属于严重的污染，质量指数均超340，而在郑州中医学院监测点数值更是高达515，首次出现爆表情况，而这里最主要的污染物就是pm2.5。大家知道吗，从1月到现在，郑州空气只有2次是合格，其余全为轻度污染和严重污染。虽然太阳露出了笑脸，但空气呢，还是好不到哪去。从1月到现在，最高能见度500米，最低20米。

在北京，雾霾天气比我们郑州还严重！与雾气同时出现的，则是严重的灰霾与空气污染。1月29日15时，北京市各空气质量监测站点的颜色呈现出一片代表着六级严重污染的褐红色，其中奥体中心空气质量指数453、农展馆430、东四环北路449，其余站点大多突破400。pm2。5毫无悬念地成为首要污染物。此外，以往很少显山露水祸害京城空气的二氧化氮这次也出来作祟。市环保局监测显示，在pm2。5、pm10超标的同时，多个地区的二氧化氮也出现超标。与我们郑州一样，这使许多交通道路封闭，飞机航班取消。

在整个河南省，1月份省会空气质量只有三个良最低为60，最高为405。而且经省气象局的消息，1月28日至29日，我省出现范围较大的一次雾霾天气过程，根据卫星遥感监测图像显示：29日9时至13时，全省雾区面积8。12万平方公里，而国土面积16。7万平方公里，65%以上的高速公路受到影响。

面对雾霾，大家要打开雾灯，小心慢行。不坐超载客车，不坐超速客车。大胆举报超速超载疲劳驾驶客车。减少开车出行，积极多多种树！增添一点点绿色，加一点新鲜空气，让雾霾远离我们的生活。

从前的时候，家乡的小河清澈见底，小鱼儿成群，快乐并自由自在的游玩。

I am terribly sorry that I failed to arrive at BLCU last Friday. I hope that this did not mess you up completely, although I know that you had already made some special arrangements for my visit with you parents and friends. I am very sorry about all that. I am sure you will be sympathetic, however, when I tell you that my father is dangerously ill in hospital, and that I found it impossible to leave for the visit when he is in this state.

My father was working very hard on his project on protecting the environment. I know the project has come to a very important stage. He and his assistants did not take regular rest for three weeks. Last night, my father had a heart attack and was soon sent to the hospital. The doctor said my father was in a very serious situation, and, he might need an operation.

24 hours have passed. Nothing has changed. I have to stay at the hospital. I will let you know if there is any good news.

As is known to all, waste on campus has become a more and more serious problem. We can easily see many students dump a lot of food in the garbage can. Some students spend thousands of yuan buying fashionable clothes and so on.

我想大家都看过《金湖美》吧。可你知道吗？那么美的金湖曾经是一个臭水潭！这得从金湖的由来讲起了。

１９５４年８月１０日夜，个旧市区遭受到一场特大暴雨的袭击，市区周围２０多平方公里范围内也普降特大暴雨，大量洪水从山沟顺流而下，全部汇集到市区９平方公里的洼地处，洼地水面在一夜之间上升了0.8米。随后，又连续降雨，多时每天降雨量达0.0742米，洼地水面不断扩大，水位继续上涨，加上市区东面老阴山山脚的“落水洞”不仅不能正常落水，反而冒水，最大出水量为每秒５．７３立方米。１９５４年８月几次暴雨之后，落水洞又大量出水，致使原云南锡业公司机关、机厂、炼厂，原个旧市砖瓦厂、砖瓦窑、铁工厂、农民服务站等全部被淹，洪灾一共造成民房被淹９５６间、６５９户，２８１０人受灾，田地被淹２２８亩８分。

然而灾害都不是完全无益的，这次灾后在市中心形成了一个面积约为0.8平方公里的水潭，这使历史上缺水的矿区人们看到了希望，于是人们决定治理它利用它，便把这潭水留了下来，作为矿区的主要生产用水供水源头，但是人们用水不加节制，各类污水不加处理直接排入湖内，导致了金湖湖底连年升高，蓄水量连年减少，最终金湖变成了一个臭水潭。在水面上漂着许多动物的尸体和各类生活垃圾，人走在湖边臭气熏天，人们常常掩鼻而过，金湖真正的变成了臭水潭。但是人们并没有停止对已经变成臭水潭的金湖的污染。

终于人们的这种行为遭到了大自然的惩罚，1998年又一次发生了洪灾，这次洪灾至使金湖沿岸多处民房被淹，最深处淹到了三楼，污水直接灌进家里，这次洪灾引起了政府的

高度重视，从那以后金湖边建起了许多污水处理站金湖的情况渐渐的好起来了，水越来越清，能看见水里的鱼儿在欢快的嬉戏，后来金湖就成了我在《金湖美》里描写的那样了。

每年农历春分前后本是刮大风、扬沙尘暴的时候，可我们天水最近几年虽然刮风，但却很少有沙尘，空气清新甜润。这是为什么呢?原来是一棵棵挺立着的“绿色卫兵”为我们挡住了风沙。

大家都知道树木可以排出氧气，抵挡风沙。可过去就是没人去自觉地种树，反而把树一棵棵砍下来做成各种各样的工具、家具，把自己的家装饰得非常漂亮，可他们不知道这些举动却害了自己，毁掉了自己的家园。许多地区的人乱砍滥伐树木，造成了沙尘暴、洪水、厄尔尼诺现象等自然灾害。近几年天水人民为了不使这些自然灾害继续蔓延下去，自觉地扛起铁锹、拎着镐头到山上去种树，在裸露的土地上种植了大量绿树，给天水筑起了一道“防风墙”。来天水旅游的客人看到绿绿的山包，都说：“这哪像什么黄土高原嘛，分明就是一个青山绿水的小江南!”

尽管山上的绿化很好，城市也变得美丽而整洁。但人们保护环境的行动和意识还较差。城市里的工厂冒出黑烟污染了大气层和空气;人们随意把污水排放到河里，使本来清澈见底的藉河变得又脏又臭;在河坝里种菜的农民就用这样的水“浇灌”他们的蔬菜，还要拿到市场上去卖，这不是让我们喝下水道里的水吗?

正在建设中的“藉河风情线”，改善了河水的污染，但也挖掉了一些花草树木。我想对工人叔叔们说：“不能为了修河道把这些花草白白挖掉，可以边挖边种，一举两得呀!”

几年前，天水新建了一条步行街，街上有许多仿古建筑，每栋仿古建筑都有两、三层，顶上的每个角都有雕刻的非常精美的龙头，威风凛凛。步行街的街面由工匠们精心挑选的花岗岩组成的。街上还有几棵古槐，其中有两关于写观察环境的作文 棵的叶子已全掉光了，管理人员就把用塑料做成的藤叶缠绕在这两棵古槐的树干上，再从树下装上绿色的射灯，每当夜幕降临，绿灯照射的古槐就像真的一样，它们看起来年轻了许多许多。

步行街有许多供人们乘凉、歇脚的长凳，它们可就享受不了这些优惠了!有些人故意站在上面跺脚，踩得凳子“青”一块“紫”一块，“吱拗”的声音不断传来，好像在说：“疼死了!疼死了!”

步行街上的果壳箱非常好看，每个都象是一个小房子。它们把“嘴”张得大大的，等待着人们给它们“喂食”。可就是有些不文明的人把坏牛奶倒在果壳箱里;有些还把果壳箱底下的盖子打开，让臭垃圾泄露到街地上，弄得街上臭哄哄的。

在天水大酒店门前，有两块被铁栏杆围起来的草坪，草坪上有一块木牌，上面写着：“小草含羞笑，请君勿打扰”十个红字。意思是让我们爱护小草，不要乱踩草坪。可有些小孩却故意往草坪放炮、踢足球或扔石头，把本来高高抬头的小草打得都弯下了腰，拧成一团，象张麻毯似的。

星期天，妈妈带我去步行街买衣服。我看见有个小孩把瓶子当做篮球往果壳箱里投，结果扔在了外面，那个小孩管也不管，旁若无人地刚要走，我连忙过去把那个瓶子捡起来放进了果壳箱。路人说我是个保护环境的好孩子，那个小孩也惭愧地低下了头。我猜他以后肯定也不再乱扔垃圾了吧!

“全球荒漠化面积已经达到三十六亿公顷，占陆地总面积四分之一，涉及九亿人口，一百多个国家。我国的荒漠化面积约占国土面积之27。3%而且这一比例还在扩大。”

Dear Sir,

I am writing to apply for a British Council scholarship to study in Britain. I did my five years basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the Peoples General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic.

As a result of the publication in 2003 of my article in New Scientist entitled "Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses ", which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients.

Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.

清晨，踏着欢快的步伐到草间嬉戏，吮吸着花草的芬芳，聆听着鸟儿的歌唱，欣享着白雾的缭绕，乐趣融融;夜晚，坐在璀璨的星空下，蝉儿不停地嘹响，曲唱着大自然的赞歌，其乐无穷，仿佛置身于一个梦幻般的王国。春天，我漫步在河边的垂柳下，听，鱼儿正在述说着昨夜的美梦，草儿正在述说着昨夜的欢乐;夏天，光着脚丫走在软绵绵的沙滩上，看海鸥轻盈地掠过辽阔的大海;秋天，站在窗前看那金黄的叶子一片片地落下;冬天，北方的大地换上了银白色的束装……

曾几何时，人类乱砍乱伐，令郁郁葱葱的森林转眼变成了孤桩独树的“秃地”;令清澈见底的溪流转眼变成了堆圾如山的“废池”;沙丘吞噬了万顷良田，洪水冲毁了可爱的家园……一个个铁一样的事实告诉我们，它们威胁着生态平衡，危害着人体健康，制约着经济和社会的可持续发展，它们让人类陷入了困境。这些灾难敲响了人类的警钟，保护环境与维护生态平衡的重任要落到我们的肩上。

来吧，从自己做起，从小事做起，携手保护我们的家园，未来的天空一定是碧蓝的，水是清澈的，绿树成荫，鲜花遍地，人类可以尽情享受大自然赋予我们的幸福。

It is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. Land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. It is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.

Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if peoples lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution ?

不可否认环境恶化已成为当今世界最大的问题。土地资源在不断减少,因为水土流失。废气污染着我们呼吸的空气。河流和湖泊被工厂的 倒出来的废弃物所污染。这可以毫不夸张地说,环境质量的恶化威胁着人类的生存。

有些人认为环境问题是我们因为经济发展而必须要付出的代价。但我不认为这种观点是有效的。毕竟,经济增长的重点是什么?如果人们的生活环境被日益恶化、被严重污染了，那还有什么意义?
