The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling. Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

还有一次，我们母女俩出去玩，我玩得正起劲一不小心摔伤了腿。妈妈立马蹲下身要背我去医院，我看她那瘦弱而矮小的身体，说：“我能自己瘸着走去，不用背。”可妈妈不同意，说：“不行，如果骨折了，再瘸着走会加重病情。”就这样她一路背背停停把我送到医院。

这就是我的好妈妈，一个很慈祥的妈妈很爱我的妈妈。

每个家，妈妈是一个有多重身份的人：在孩子面前是母亲，在老人面前是儿媳妇……

一个晴朗的日子，全家人散完步回到家，本应高高兴兴的，却吵起了架。

起因是爷爷提起前几天的事，加上他脾气有点不好，于是数落了我一通。我自然不干：“您找我干啥？我又不是这事的主犯。”爷爷一看我不肯就范，忘记了煮饭是我爸爸而不是我。于是东拉西扯地找词儿批评我，那唾沫星子乱飞的景象，让人看了以为是我犯了什么“滔天大罪”，对我指指点点。

我一看周围的人都这样，于是跟爷爷理论起来。爷爷不提这事，就翻起陈年旧事来，对我说道：“你小子，我还教训不得你了？还顶嘴？上回……”我直接打断：“这都啥时候的陈年旧事了？”祖孙俩越吵越激烈。

关键时刻，妈妈站出来和稀泥：“都别吵了，两个都有错。超超，你给爷爷道个歉，这事就算结了。”

唉，幸亏有我妈来拆东墙补西墙，不然这场架不知要何时方休。

过完春节，刚开春。这天，我爸爸朝我吼了一声：“你小子昨天是不是偷拿了我的钱？”“哎哟喂，老爸，您看我这纯洁的小眼睛，我像是小偷吗？”可我爸不吃这一套，来了劲了，唾沫横飞，越说越来劲，劝不了。

关键时刻，稀泥有人来和：“昨夜不是你拿去买酒了吗？”和稀泥的顶尖高手用一句话就终结了老爸的唾沫，此人为我妈。

又是媳妇又是妈。生活中，她是终结唾沫的高手。
