上个星期，老师发给我们一本薄薄的、蓝色封面的小书，书名叫《美丽中国——生态文明建设者》。读到“小村庄的故事”这篇文章时，我深有感触。

故事写的是一个美丽而又宁静的小村庄，那里绿树成阴，鲜花遍地。可是，那里居住的人们并不满足这宁静、祥和的日子，他们用一把把锋利的斧头，将一棵棵树木变成了一栋栋楼房、一张张纸和一枝枝笔。可后来，一场下了五天五夜的大雨，吞没了他们的一切。

为什么会造成这样的后果？原因是土地失去了树木的保护。树木不仅可以保持土壤，还可以蓄水。树林的树冠就像一把大伞，不让雨水直接冲刷地面。树干上的苔藓和树下的枯枝败叶也可以吸收一部分雨水。而树林里土壤的蓄水能力就更大了，剩下的雨水渗进土壤，大都能够被储存起来。树林就像是一个天然水库一样。当人们砍下了树木，破坏了环境，大自然的报复就来了。

树木的作用还有很多，可以调节温度、减少噪音、抵挡风沙、美化环境……。

同学们，树木的作用是多么大呀！让我们一起行动起来，爱护环境、保护树木吧，这也是保护我们自己。
