The seas and oceans receive the brunt of human waste, whether it is by deliberate dumping or by natural run-off from the land.

In fact over 80% of all marine pollution comes from land-based activities and many pollutants are deposited in estuaries and coastal waters. Here the pollutants enter marine food chains, building up their concentrations until they reach toxic levels. It often takes human casualties to alert us to pollution and such was the case in Minimata Bay in Japan when many people died as a result of a pollutant building up in food chains. A factory was discharging waste containing methyl mercury in low concentrations into the sea and as this pollutant passed through food chains it became more concentrated in the tissues of marine organisms until it reached toxic levels.

As a consequence 649 people died from eating fish and shellfish contaminated with mercury and 3500 people suffered from mercury poisoning.

From the passage we know that thousands of endangered animals are facing the threat of being bought and sold on the internet. Traders make a great profit from it，which is illegal.

As is often read in the newspaper reports， wild life especially the rare species are threatened with extinction. Human beings are making attempts to hunt wild animals for a big profit， which， of course， results in a sharp decrease in the number of animals.

我的春节和你们的春节大不相同，我回了河南汝南的老家，放了许多各种各样的炮，有大纸炮、飞天雷、飞天火箭、水雷等等。

有一天，我把一个有30厘米高，直径20厘米的白色大纸炮放在雪堆里，它的威力比小型手榴弹的还大，我用火机点燃了火线，然后我很快的跑进了屋里，1、2、3，轰的一声，好像大地都被震得颤动起来，我跑上去一看，雪堆上有一个很大的洞，比我想象得还要大。我们又把水雷往水里里一扔，很大一个水花一飞冲天，威力无边，把水面的冰都炸得飞了起来，水面上出现了壮观的景象，很多黑色的烟从水而起。

在老家过年真开心，我可以放炮，还可以率领很多童子军，我在老家的这几天玩得很开心。

over 2,000 years, and is one of the mostimportant Chinese festivals as well.

There are variouscelebrating activities on that day, among which the customs of

eating rice dumplings anddragon boat racing are quite important.There are many

legends on the origin of the DragonBoat Festival.Some people think it is to

commemorate the poet Qu Yuan, while others say it isto be in honour of Wu Zi_u,

a famous general during the Warring States period. However, thelegend of Qu Yuan

spreads most widely. People appreciate highly the noble sentiment andprominent

talent of this patriotic poet and are very sympathetic with the ending that

hecommitted suicide by drowning himself in a river.

端午节(the Dragon Boat Festival)，又称重五节，于每年农历五月初五庆祝。

这是广泛流传2000多年的民间节日，也是中国最重要的节日之一。端午节当天举行各种庆祝活动，吃粽子和赛龙舟(dragon boat

racing)是其中的重要习俗。关于端午节的起源，有很多传说。一部分人认为端午节是为了纪念诗人屈原，另一部分人则认为是为了纪念战国时期的著名将领伍子胥。然而，屈原的传说流传最广。人们非常欣赏这位爱国诗人的高尚情操和出众才华，更对他投江自尽的结局深表同情。

地球破坏？保护！地球是人类的家园，更是唯一的家园。可她现在已经千疮百孔了，可人类还没有醒悟过来，地球的呻吟人类一直没听见，依旧我行我素！姐姐昨天晚上打电话回来，让我去给她送几件衣服，这几天阴晴不定，她就只带了短袖。第二天早上我早早的起床，收拾好几件厚的外套装到袋子里就出门了！她说要从村里过，我问她为什么她只是说马路刚拆了准备修新的，但还没开始修。

我抱着侥幸的心理，认为她去学校都有一个大周了，她去的时候没修好不代表现在没修好，反正其他的路我也不知道该怎么走，就去碰碰运气！快到学校了我发现那条路确实没修好但此时退回去再重新找路可不不是件容易的事，而且看起来那条路挺平的，没什么事吧！我走上去，发现看似平坦的道路，其实只是虚有其表，脚一踩上去，细小的尘土就争先恐后地往脚里钻，不一会我的双脚就像绑了两个无形的沙袋，我停下来，把鞋里的土往外倒！继续往前走，快走到校门口时，我捂住鼻子迅速往前走，因为旁边有烟雾发出难闻的气味，不过这种味道我熟悉经常闻到就是烧塑料袋的的味道！不过这个好像不止是塑料袋还夹杂着各种各样的垃圾焚烧的味道！我快步走到门岗把东西放那就走了。回到家我没有吃早饭，因为那味道迟迟不散去，一直停留在我的鼻子前。地球也有像人一样有她自己的脾气！她像人一样，你对她好她就会对你好。舟曲的泥石流何不是一个典型的例子？舟曲的泥石流，给村民造成了巨大的损失。那次泥石流伤亡惨重，1700余人死亡。但是这一切只是他们咎由自取。

舟曲是一个美丽的村庄，空气清新，但是由于他们对金钱的无止境的渴求，他们大量砍树卖钱！风开始刮了，雨开始下了，没有了树庇护大量的泥沙开始滑落，泥石流就这样发生了，舟曲被埋没了。淘金热？可能现在已经不热了！但是曾经的淘金热让我也想了很多，人们喜欢金子，毕竟是钱人人都爱，但是曾经被挖的矿山，没有挖到金子的矿山，挖到金子的矿山，你可曾听见它们的哭泣？不论是舟曲的泥石流，还是学校门口的垃圾焚烧，它们都是我们一手造成的，为了经济利益，砍树卖钱；为了图方便，垃圾乱烧；为了淘金子，四处乱挖。我们就这么自私？钱真的那么重要吗？钱花完了可以再赚，但破坏了的环境，就再也恢复不了了！是该醒醒了！地球只有一个她很脆弱！
