The main function of public libraries is to provide books for people to

read.In a library,there are books on different subjects,such as Chinese

history,fine art,science,English literature,and so on.There are also works fo

fiction.

The public libraries are crowded with people on weekdays as well as Sundays

because many people,especially students who want to consult reference books for

their school work,know that they could at least learn something there.

Besides reading in the library,we can also borrow books with library

cards.But books on loan had to be returned within a couple of weeks.As far as I

know the number of people who borrow books from public libraries is increasing

In my side, though in many places with big slogan: no smoking, but there are still many people smoking unashamed. Although the cigarette case, all printed with the words, "smoking is harmful to health" but people turn a blind eye, to continue to their "hobby".

"Merchants if we know that smoking is harmful to health, why production cigarette?" I feel puzzled. The Chong Yang Festival is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, and it is as such known as the Double Ninth Festival.

Climbing mountains: On the Double Ninth Festival, people customarily climb mountains, appreciate chrysanthemum flowers, drink chrysanthemum wine, and eat double-ninth cakes. The Double Ninth Festival is also the Old Men Festival. Old people are especially meant to improve their health by taking part in the activities on the day of the festival.

Origins: The festival began as early as the Warring States Period (475 - 221 BC). According to the yin/yang dichotomy that forms a basis to the Chinese world view, yin represents the elements of darkness and yang represents life and brightness. The number nine is regarded as yang. The ninth day of the ninth month is a double yang day, hence the name Chong Yang Festival. (Chong means repeat in Chinese.) The ninth month also heralds the approach of winter. It is a time when the living need warm clothing, and filial Chinese sons and daughters extended this to make the festival a time for providing winter clothes for their ancestors. The Double Ninth Festival, therefore, also became an occasion to visit the graves of dead family members. Clothes made of paper would then be burnt as offerings.

Family get-togethers: The Double Ninth Festival is also a time for family get-togethers. It is an occasion to remember one‘s ancestors, the sacrifices they made and the hardships they underwent. Often, family outings are organised during which people search to renew their appreciation of nature and to reaffirm their love and concern for family members and close friends.

My favourite teacher is my English teacher Ms Hu . Her English name is Sally . She is a beautiful lady. She is very humorous. But sometimes she is very strict with us. She can speak English , But she can also speak Japnese very well. So all classmates love and respect her very much. When I was in high school, one of my classmates sit right beside me. His

name is ChenLiang. He is my unforgettable person in my life.

I remembered my mathematics was just mediocre at that time, but he was

extraordinary and excellent in calculating and solving mathematic questions. He

often received perfect scores. Of course, I wished I could reach at his level.

Since we talked all day long, I asked how he could solve those difficult

questions. He was so patient and polite to answer my sometimes ridiculous

The environment of the city is getting worse and worse today. There are wastes, air pollution and so on. What can we do to save our city? About the air pollution, we should go to school on foot or by bike; we should also ask our family not to use car as much as possible, take the subway or bus instead. I was waiting for the doctor to finish his examination.I was worried and

nervous.Would my father have to operate?Would a blood transfusion be

necessary?What would he have to say?

Dr Lin was a heart expert.He was an excellent doctor and his examinations

were always complete.He listened to the patients heart,took his blood pressure

and temperature,gave him an X-ray and examined his eyes and ears.The doctor

三、平时的过程考试最大的价值在于反思，在反思中找寻方向，用行动实现超越。因而我们尤其要建议家长们引导 孩子们好好总结得失。考差了，别忙着发火；考好了，别忙着高兴。帮助孩子正确评价自己，在此基础上去发展自己。 真正聪明的人不犯同样的错误，一个孩子不犯同样的错误，一定前途无量。那么考试的总结比任何学习环节都来的更加 重要。

四、告诉孩子人生成功的机率只有两种，要么百分之一百，要么百分之零。对一个人来说，最有效的发展自我的途 径是要求自己。古人说：天行健，君子以自强不息。为什么许多有更大人生成功障碍的人取得成功，而有着许多成才条 件的人却一生碌碌无为，这确实值得我们每个人的深思。有一些孩子因为性格与价值观念的原因，凡事往后看，那么能 够达到的目标便只能是我们所有人所不愿看到的结果。

五、人生的道路也许很漫长，但紧要处只有几步，特别是人年轻的时候。每个人的人生都有遗憾，但是我们每个人都应避免悔恨。许多美好的东西我们拥有时，没有珍惜，失去时悔恨又有何用呢？无论家长还是老师，能做的也许便是 让学生在人生紧要处，少一些悔恨。每每看到学生后悔自己走过的路，都让人心酸，但是又有何办法呢？希望家长能够 与学校、年级教育形成一致性，让孩子的人生多一些从容，少一些悔恨。

product, so that they can show off. Recently, it has been reported a boy sell

his kidney for the purpose of buying an iphone, this is so shocked, the boy is

selling his health for a new cell phone. People should be wise to the cell

phone, they need to figure out that all the cell phones have some common basic

function, some new products’ function is almost the same. They should measure

their situation to buy a new one.

Everyone knows that eyes are one of the most important parts of our body.Having good eyesight means we can not only see things clearly,but also enjoy some beautiful scenes.there is also a saying going that eyes are the window of our mind.But how can we protect our eyes?
