Wherever we are today, whatever we are, we owe it to our parents who have given and taught us so much, so we should thank them, especially, thank our mother. I think my mother is one of the best mothers in the world.

She is the busiest one in my family. She does chores for the family and cares about my study. She has taught me a lot. She does lots of things for me. But she never wants anythings in return.

How will I show my thanks to my mother? First, this year, I am going to give her a surprise birthday party and buy her a special present. Second, I’ll do well in school. Third, I’ll help her do housework when I’m free. I want to make her happy. In a word, I love my mother.

As temperatures continue to drop in Northern China, many winter holiday resorts in the Jilin Province are seeing booming business.

At the Chagan Lake, people are skiing, skating and motor racing on the frozen terrain. The lake is located near the city of Songyuan. Meanwhile, in the city of Siping, the 4th Ice and Snow Tourism Festival is in full swing at the Yehe royal ski resort. Brave skiiers speed down the mountain, adding quite a bit of excitement to the atmosphere.

In Tonghua, thousands of tourists flocked to the Qianye Scenic Resort for some skiing, skating, and sleigh riding. The resort has seen a peak in numbers over the past weekend and more winter sports lovers are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

The city of Yanji in eastern Jilin is also a hot destination for skiers. The Mengdu ski resort welcomes over 2000 skiers a day. The Jilin province has long been a popular tourist destination, especially for lovers of winter sports, and with the addition of more resorts and parks, the number of tourists is only expected to rise in the coming years.

有一天朋友聚会，宴饮之前，一个大哥递给我一张纸，我一看，似乎是他的人生履历表，不过却很详细。于是，便饶有兴致地看下去。

他写，儿时家在乡村，学校破落，那时的理想是当个科学家，像课本中那些人一样。努力学习，为了理想。

初中时在山外镇上，理想依然不变，依然努力学习。

高中时去了县城，第一次看见繁华城市，科学家的理想淡去，只想考个好大学，以后留在城里。

大学时去了一个更大的城市，基本不再想理想的问题，谈了好几次恋爱，然后想着毕业后的去留，只想找一个好的工作。

走上社会，奔波了两年，不停地跳槽，总觉得不满意。离自己预期的生活还远。

终于买了房子，然后考上公务员，然后谈恋爱，找到了一个颇有权势的女友，结婚。然后，凭能力，凭门路，慢慢地向上提升。

再后来，该有的全有了，理想，梦想，更是在生命中淡得无踪。有时想起，很茫然，似乎又很麻木。

他和我说：“前些天，我翻看以前的东西，看到小学时写的作文，看到自己的理想，忽然就有些郁闷，觉得这一生身不由己!”

心里忽然一阵悸动，想想自己的经历，想想最初的梦想，不说背道而驰，也是相去甚远。那么，到底是什么，在牵着我们向着未知方向走?

想起一个前辈，他是我们市里画界泰斗。我们了解他一生的际遇。

少年时爱画，家穷，就在沙地上画。

青年时常常因为练画而耽误许多事，甚至错过一些不错的际遇，虽然许多艰难，依然不放弃。

中年时赶上十年动乱，被牵连其中，他被下放到乡村，每天都放鸭子，他就日日观察鸭子，在心里不停地揣摩。

后来平反，他重返画坛，人们惊讶地发现，他的画技不退反进。(。)而当初那些和他一起被下放劳改的艺术家，多已放弃了梦想。

忽然明白，我们身不由己地，到底是被什么牵着向前走。我们被欲望牵着向前，脚步停不下来。而更多的时候，欲望常常披着梦想的外衣，让我们难以分辨，随之辗转，最终难觅归路。

就如我那个大哥，他看似一生都在追求着，其实，只是在追着一种欲望的心境在奔忙。所以才会有感慨，才会感觉丢失了自己。

而那位前辈，却是让梦想牵着自己的心，所以才会一种行来，走至春暖花开。同样是被牵着走，梦想和欲望，却是不同的种种。也许，境遇会有相似，但心境却是迥然。

知道了这一点，也就知道了什么是无悔。

Oceans becoming more acidicThe worlds oceans are slowly getting more acidic, say scientists.The researchers from California say the change is taking place in response to higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.The lowering of the waters pH value is not great at the moment but could pose a serious threat to current marine life if it continues, they warn.Ken Caldeira and Michael Wickett, from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, report their concerns in the journal Nature.Increasing use of fossil fuels means more carbon dioxide is going into the air, and most of it will eventually be absorbed by seawater.

Once in the water, it reacts to form carbonic acid.Scientists believe that the oceans have already become slightly more acidic over the last century.But these researchers have tried to predict what will happen in the future by combining what we know about the history of the oceans with computer models of climate change."This level of acidity will get much more extreme in the future if we continue releasing CO2 into the atmosphere," said Dr Caldeira."And we predicted amounts of future acidity that exceed anything we saw over the last several hundred million years, apart from perhaps after rare catastrophic events such as asteroid impacts."If carbon dioxide release continues unabated, ocean pH could be reduced by as much as 0.77 units, the authors warn.It is not absolutely clear what that means for marine life, however.

Most organisms live near the surface, where the greatest pH change would be expected to occur, but deep-ocean lifeforms may be more sensitive to pH changes.Coral reefs and other organisms whose skeletons or shells contain calcium carbonate may be particularly affected, the team speculate. They could find it much more difficult to build these structures in water with a lower pH.In recent years some people have suggested deliberately storing carbon dioxide from power stations in the deep ocean as a way of curbing global warming.But Dr Caldeira said that such a strategy should now be re-considered."Previously, most experts had looked at ocean absorption of carbon dioxide as a good thing - because in releasing CO2 into the atmosphere we warm the planet; and when CO2 is absorbed by the ocean, it reduces the amount of greenhouse warming.
