I don’t remember the exact year I first read The Little Prince . Though the golden snake in the book plays a cameo role , I never forget the scene that he flashed kissed gently on the little prince’s ankle. It made me be afraid to reread this book.

Later, I listened a Michael Wong’s song named Fairy-tale Story, the prince in his song is different from the prince in The Little Prince, the prince in the song is the same as Andersen’s tales’ princes, they all have happy endings.

However, I think The Little Prince is a sad story. There is a saying: There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand peoples eyes. Now, let me talk about my reading feeling. This simple story flies over every corner of the world: a pilot (the narrator) who had an accident with his plane and crashed in the Desert of Sahara then he met the little prince from the planet B-612, and the narrator listened little prince’s travel experience of seven planets. On the seven planets, he met a variety of persons. They are the king, the conceited man, the businessman, the tippler, the lamplighter, the geographer and so on.

The Little Prince is a story belongs to adults who have childlike innocence.because children don’t understand the little prince’s deep sadness.This is not so much a fairy tale, as it is a tragedy. This story tells the grow-ups’ world is full of empty，lost and loneliness with kids’ perspective. Among the story, the alcoholic is impressive. He was surrounded by a pile of beer bottles when the little prince saw him, and prince asked him why he is drinking, but he answered he want to forget his shame of drinking. This short planet visit plunged little prince into deep puzzled. He think the grow-ups are certainly very, very odd. In kids eyes, beautiful things must look with heart. But the adults pay more attention on things’ appearance that is just a shell and they don’t believe the eyes are blind and the heart is true.

When I first read The Little Prince, I can’t understand the mean of love and never to think why should the little prince leave alone since he love his rose so deeply. For years, I reread the story and think about it. The simple true was first love. The little prince didn’t know how to love and It was difficult to make him understand the rose’s heart, so it may lead to misunderstanding and hurts from time to time. He leaved his planet because he can not accept the rose and himself.

This is why the little prince don’t know he have to leave : at that time, he had no idea he was in it. The little prince don’t understand the meaning of tame until he met the fox later. Then he produced the endless yearning for the roses and realized his responsibility.

"Do you want to be domesticated?" For me, this is a profound question. In the book, the little prince met a fox and invited the fox to play with him, but he was refused. The fox told him that he was not tamed. “what does that mean--tame?” little prince asked. The fox answered:” it means to establish ties: to me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. Gradually the little prince was beginning to understand, because he remembered his rose and he thought his rose had tamed him. So he chose to go back to his planet in the end. But to the fox, the little prince’s farewell will make her sad, but the hurts because of love, she should learn to accept it gradually. I believe there are full of hurts within serious and true love.

As long as the little prince flied to different planets and met a variety of persons can he understand himself and his rose. So I think traveling is a good way to experience life.

Sunshine shines over the statue in Orleans. The ordinary but famous girl named Joan is riding on her horse, smiling and looking down at the land that she has loved and fought on. When Louis XIII was the king, the British and the Burundians invaded France and wanted to have the northern part of France. So the success before did not happen by accident,. After some battles, Joan said that she had lost her support from the saints, but actually this didn’t mind. The more important thing was that she had lost her confidence and will, so she lost the battle at last.

So I think confidence and will are just like the foundation of success. All the success depends on them.

In the real world, confidence and will is always very important. During the XX Athens Olympic Games, Li Ting and Sun Tiantian have won the gold medal for the women’s double in the tennis game. Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I dont think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on peoples honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by the famous English writer, Jane Austen, who was the sixth children in a family of seven and was born in the village of steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died of Addison’s disease in 1817. The book first published on 28 January 1813 by the bookseller Thomas Egerton who had also published Sense and Sensibility, the original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impressions .

Pride and Prejudice is a love story, mainly tells the love between Elizabeth and Darcy. It divided into 2 volumes and is composed of 42 chapters altogether. The major characters are Mr. Darcy, A rich and proud young man. Elizabeth, the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Bingley , A rich young bachelor. Jane, the first daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Bennet. The story begin with Bingley’s arrival. One day when Mrs.Bennet hear Bingley has taken Netherfield, a house near her’s. She is so happy and arranged one of her five daughters marriage with him. At a ball, luckly, Bingley and Jane fall in love at the first sight. Darcy, a friend of Bingley’s , was attracted to Elizabeth, a lively and spirited girl. But Darcy greatly offends her by his supercilious behavior and this dislike is increased by Wickham, a dashing young militia officer of the unjust treatment he has met with at Darcys hands. One day when Darcy and Bingley’s two sisters disgusted with the vulgarity of Mrs. Bennet and her two youngest daughters, effectively separated Bingley and Jane. Meanwhile, Collins, a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, married charlotte, a friend of Elizabeth’s, for Elizabeth’s refuse to marry him. But One day Darcy send Elizabeth a letter, in which he justifies the separation of his friend Bingley and Jane and make it clear that Wickham is. So Elizabeth changed her opinions and ideas toward him. Once when Elizabeth visited her uncle and aunt in the north of England, she met Darcy there and witnessed his changes through series of behaviors, no longer pride and become gentle and attentive, all these made their marriage arranged, and they also suitably provided for Bingley and Jane’s reunited and engaged. The story ends with both their happy marriages.

My point of view towards the masterpiece of Jane Austen’s is that this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative，and tells us the difference ways and attitudes to marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet’s five daughters’. Thereby reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid Without considering all of these. There, the author emphasize the importance of ideal marriage, meanwhile, to be opposed to love & marriage based on money or property and to be opposed to people’s laugh love & marriage off. The author takes the affection/love as the cornerstone of ideal marriage between male and female. Elizabeth as the leading character in this novel, was born in the family of squireen’s, and is loved by Darcy. Darcy propose marriage to her in spite of difference in the possession of property and social status, but is refused by Elizabeth for his pride , the novel demonstrate that if the pride of Darcy’s existed ， there will be no love and also happy marriage between Elizabeth and he, it is really nice that Elizabeth witness the changes of Darcy’s through series of behavior in the following days. viewing that he is no longer pride and then eliminating her prejudice to him, finally engaged with him and leading a happy marriage. Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

The Scarlet Letter attained an immediate and lasting success because it addressed spiritual and moral issues from a uniquely American standpoint. In 1850, adultery was an extremely risqué subject, but because Hawthorne had the support of the New England literary establishment, it passed easily into the realm of appropriate reading. When a woman has lived through a difficult experience, her character changes a great deal. If she be all tenderness, she will die. If she survive, the tenderness will leave her .Hester’s charitable deeds and quiet humility have earned her a reprieve from the scorn of the community. The letter on her chest represents her work on earth , always helping others, without expecting any thanks. Never afterwards, does that scarlet letter leave her chest. The townspeople no longer view the letter as a punishment , but rather as representing her great strength and bravery and thy say it means “Able”.

But Arthur Dimmesdale, his sin against Hester and Pearl is that he will not acknowledge them as his wife and daughter in the daylight. He keeps his dreadful secret from all those under his care in the church for seven years for fear that he will lose their love and will not be forgiven. He is too weak to admit his sins. He suffers from mysterious heart trouble, seemingly caused by psychological distress. What’s worse, he is an advisor to the townspeople about their sins.

After Mr. Dimmesdale’s death , no one changes more in appearance than Roger Chilling worth. All his strength and energy has been used to harm his patient . This unhappy man has made his aim in life to add to the suffering of the young minister. When the evil old man no longer has such a purpose, the devil takes him back to the hell .
