It is the Lantern Festival. My grandfather, grandmother and father are all

in shanxi. There are only my mother, my aunt, my sister and me. My mother and

aunt are looking at the computer. I teach my sister to skateboard.

First, I asked my sister to step on the skateboard with her left foot and

gently push her right foot to jump. But she jumped several times and couldnt

jump. So I asked her to stand on a skateboard with her right foot on the board.

But she could not walk two steps and fell, but she fell several times without

I seem to recall best a journey we made by tram one winter night.

We were going to visit my Granny at Westoe, and I was very excited, because an evening excursion was something quite unheard of for me. Everything in the ram seemed fresh and glittering. Above, a high half-moon seemed to be skidding along on its back through piles of black, white-lined rags. It was a wild night, with a sense of magic in the offing. The people in the tram did not like ordinary mortals; a kind of exhilaratinggaietyhadseizedthem,anditseseememed to lighten their bodies and illuminate their faces. At times I was sure we were really flying.

Lost time is never found again. This is something which I learned very clearly last semester. I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer. I finally realized that something had to be done. It was time for a change. Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely. I have set my alarm clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day. I have also decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it. Looking back on what I’ve done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.

My hometown, a village locating beside a small river, is a wonderful place

with beautiful scenery surrounded. Because of the poor geographical environment

and without an asphalt road, the whole village is poor and people’s lives are

tough. Generally, people grow rice and some other crops for a living. Most young

people work at the city, leaving their parents and children at home, which is

lot in the past century. Many things that wouldn’t happen before have come into

reality now. Therefore, our lives will change as well in the future. Our pace of

live will greatly speed up, because we will help many machines to finish our

work. Many things can be done autonomously. Therefore, people will have more

time for fun. People can travel the outer space freely. Space shuttle can bring

The first fall of snow is not only an event but it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up to find yourself in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment, then where is it to be found?

The very stealth, the eerie quietness, of the thing makes it more magical. Ifall the snow fell at once in one shattering crash, awakening us in the middle of the night the event would be robbed of its wonder. But it flutters down, soundless, hour after hour while we are asleep. Outside the closed curtains of the bedroom a vast transfbrmation scene is takiag place, just as if a myriad elves and brownies were at work, and we turn and yawn and stretch and know nothing about it. And then, what an extraordinary change it is! It is as if the house continent. Even the inside, which has not been touched, seems different, every room appearing smaller and cosier, just as if some power were trying to turn it into a woodcutter’s hut or a snug logcabin. Outside, where the garden was yesterday, there is now a white and glistening level, and the village beyond is no longer your own familiar cluster of roofs but a village in an old German fairy-tale.

You would not be surprised to learn that all the people there, the speetacled postmistress, the cobbler, the retired school master, and the rest, had suffered a change too and had become queer elvish beings, purveyors of invisible caps and magic shoes. You yourselves do not feel quite the same people you were yesterday. How could you not when so much has been changed? There is a curious stir, a little shiver of excite-ment, troubling the house, not unlike the feeling there is abroad when a journey has to be made. The children, of course, are all excitement but even the adults hang about and talk to one another longer than usual before setting down to the day’s work. Nobody can resist the windows. It is like being on board a ship.

My school is at Haimen Town. It is very big and beautiful. There are forty-three classes in it. When you come to our school, you can see the modern teaching building. Our teachers work and do practice in it. Behind the building, there are two classroom buildings and a school library. In the library there are thousands and thousands of books. After class you can borrow the books you want and also you can read them in the reading room at any time. Beside our classroom, there is a big playground.
