Dear Mike,
Your letter and package reached me yesterday. You really give me a great surprise. I was wondering what was in such a nice package until I carefully opened it and found that you sent me an attractive present for my birthday. Thank you very much for your kindness, and I like the present, which will give me pleasure for a long time to come.
Again it is thoughtful of you to send me the present on my birthday. Yesterday evening my colleagues held a birthday party for me, including John Liu---I think you can remember---a nice tall boy, who invited you and I to his birthday last October. We enjoyed ourselves, and all of us mentioned your stay with us. We hope that you will come to China soon, if possible.
Please accept my sincere thanks and best wishes.
Yours,
Peter Wang

+ 加入清单Dear teacher x
Hello!
The new year is coming. First of all, Id like to give you a new years
greeting: I wish you good health and all the best!
In the past semester, you have worked hard for us. We all thank you!
Teacher, you have made a lot of sweat for us. Today Im here to talk to you.
You are a good teacher who cares about students. I remember that in the
last semester, a classmate in my class had a fever. When the news reached your
ears, you took him to the clinic. Not only that, but also to him.
You are more nervous than us near the final exam, so we often have an extra
class after school to make up for it. Some students complain that the teacher
should not leave us, but you dont care what they say. Help the students who
dont understand from time to time and teach them solutions so that they can
understand. We will ask you for advice when we encounter problems that we cant,
and you will explain them to us patiently.
Here, I sincerely say: "teacher, you work hard!"
Ah! Dear teacher, you give your wisdom with love. I salute you silently
from my heart. There are poems to prove it
Ode to the gardener
Teacher, you are the beacon of learning sea,
We are sailing boats.
Three feet platform,
a poor but honest person.
You burn with passion,
We have built the students splendid achievements.
My alma mater is the cradle of dreams,
The teacher is the hand that weaves the cradle.
Teacher, you have worked hard,
You work hard and gain hope.
Hello, teacher,
You are the most romantic.
How well is the poem "sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening
things silently". Teacher, arent you just like the spring rain in poetry?
Working in obscurity, you have cultivated generations of pillars, but you dont
ask for any return. Teacher, arent you just like the hard gardener? After hard
work, you finally smell the fragrance of peach and plum. "When the silkworms
die, the silk will be exhausted, and the wax torch will become gray and the
tears will dry." this is your true portrayal; addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division can not count as your contribution; poems and songs
can not praise your admiration. Teacher, let me say to you again: "hard
work!"
I wish you:
Good health, happy holidays!
Your students

+ 加入清单Dear Tom,
Thanks for your letter which finally caught up with me in London. I suppose youre keen to hear how the trip has been so far. So heres a short description of whats happened.
Well, you remember we left Sydney on Monday and arrived in London 24 hours later. After such a long and exhausting flight the first thing we did was to have a good, long sleep. And after that?a good meal to make up for all that horrible airline stuff!
The first real day of our holiday was spent just walking around London to get a feel of the place. After that, however, we were more particular and planned each day carefully.
First, we looked at all the historical sights, such as the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, the British Museum and the National Gallery. Then we visited some other famous places, such as Kew Gardens and Hampstead Heath. Finally, we took a one-day trip to Oxford, which is really the most marvelous town. You should make sure to go there when you visit England.
After we had seen a lot of London, we flew to Paris. A t first, we didnt like the place-I suppose because it was so different from London. Later, though, we began to really love it and started to appreciate its differentness.
The final stage of our trip is a visit to Rome, after which we will be staying in Singapore for two days before returning to Australia.
Hope everyone is well. See you soon.

+ 加入清单There was once a little girl named Jerry that lived with her mother in a
small cottage in the forest, they were very poor, and could only afford to eat
bread. “Oh no!” cried Jerry’s mother one noon, “We ran out of bread, and it is
almost time for supper!” “Do we have any eggs left?” asked Jerry, “No, none;”
said her mother very worried.
“Don’t worry mother,” said Jerry suddenly, “I shall go and get some in the
market.” Then she ran off through the forest to the market with her basket.
Along the way, she was quite tired, and so rested upon some big rocks. It
gradually became late and Jerry decided to go and buy the bread, but suddenly a
wolf cried out behind her; “Please, please help me!” cried the wolf, “I have a
problem that nobody wants to help!” then he held out his paw to Jerry, there was
a thorn stuck to his paw. “Is this a trick?” asked Jerry, “Because wolves like
to eat people.”
“Oh no,” answered the wolf, “We do not eat people now, we only want to eat
some bread with mustard on top;” then he cried again. Jerry quickly knelt down
and removed the thorn from the wolf’s paw; “Oh thank you! Thank you!” shouted
the wolf joyfully, “I shall never forget your kindness!” then the wolf returned
to his home. Jerry walked to the market to buy healthy fresh bread, and then she
ran off home with a full basket of it.
On the way, she was still tired; and so she stayed at the same place and
the same time. As she was about to go, some greedy wolves blocked her way; they
had water in their mouths and said, “Give us the bread!” said a wolf, “Where are
the mustard?” asked a second wolf, “Just give it to us!” shouted the third wolf.
Jerry had no choice, as she was about to give the fresh bread away to the wolf,
the wolf that she had saved before rushed out and said, “Leave her alone!” he
growled, “That girl saved me before, and so leave her alone!” he shouted
again.
The other wolves had no choice but to obey, they walked away. Jerry thanked
her new friend the wolf, and the wolf said that he was supposed to do that in
return. And so to show Jerry’s respect for him, she gave him half the bread, and
returned home immediately to tell her mother about it.
They had some bread that evening, and Jerry’s mother including Jerry
herself all became good friends with the wolf; the wolf also had plenty of
bread, and moved his home close to Jerry.
The moral of this story was, if you help others and they will help you, you
help them again then friends you’ll become. It will be a peaceful life if
friendship is all around us; and that would be great for an important
lesson.

+ 加入清单There was once a man that thought he knew everything, and so kept showing
off to the people at his country. As time passed, many people began to feel,
that this smart man, could even beat the professor of the king. Now this king
was very proud, but the professor was not so at all. But the professor said,
“Don’t say it too soon;” and from those words, he began to decide which hard
question to ask the man.
At last he thought of a funny question, “He shall never find the answer!
Ha!” it all happened that the clever man whom I have told you; had a big stage.
All the people that have questions, should stand on this stage, and ask him what
the problem or question is.
One day the professor piled up in the line, and waited his turn. When it
was his turn, he asked the smart man, “I don’t think you could answer this
question my lord,” said the professor smiling, “I could answer all of them
foolish professor!” shouted the man with an angry tongue, “Tell me what the
question is, and I shall prove to you that I can answer every question; if I
can, then I shall ask you a question; if you do not give me the correct answer,
then I shall kill you!” shouted the man.
“But what if you don’t?” asked the professor, “Then you shall stand on this
stage and I shall hire servants to serve you;” said the man with a laugh. The
professor then began his question, “What is the first tower in 1910, and 1911;
and 1912, and 1913…and 2016? And what is the height of them? If they all stack
up, then how tall would it be?” “Ugh, give me a sec would you mind?” and then he
began to calculate; but he couldn’t find the answer.” “What’s wrong?” asked the
professor with a smile, “Couldn’t find the answer, perhaps?” “No, I-I-I-I just
ne-ed… Ugh, fine; you win! Ugh!” and so the professor soon became king and ruled
his country wise and well. People asked him many other questions, and the
professor answered them all. The clever man that thought he knew everything
however, was locked up in a cage for him cruelty to the king.
The moral of this story is, when you think you know everything; don’t think
so; for maybe a question will ruin your brain----Lulu read.

+ 加入清单let me begin my speech with a replay of scenes familiar to most, if not
all, of those present here today.
mum, im sorry, but i need 3,000 yuan for my tuition this year.
mum, it is my friends birthday tomorrow, i must buy her a present.
mum, this jacket was out of fashion long ago, would you do me a favor?
take. the relationship between a mother and a child always seems to follow
such a pattern.
i know my mother is always there for me, providing me with everything i
need; from food to clothing, from tuition to pocket money.
i never thought twice about all she did until one day she said, will there
be a time that youll say you have taken enough from me?
like a child endlessly asking, we humans, throughout history, have been
continually demanding what we desire from nature.
we enjoy the comfort and beauty of our furniture, yet we never bother to
think about the serious soil erosion caused by deforestation.
we take it for granted that we must warm ourselves in winter times, yet we
seldom realize the burning away of precious natural resources.
we appreciate all the prosperity from the development of modern industry,
yet few would give the slightest consideration to the global air and water
pollution caused by industrial wastes.
our ruthless exploitation has permanently impaired our mother earth.
as we tragically learned from last summers floods.
we cannot continue our carelessness.
finally, standing here at the threshold of the 21st century, we cannot help
thinking of our posterity.
nature is not only the mother of the present generation, but also the
mother of the generations to come.
how severely our descendents will criticize us if we leave them a barren
and lifeless mother? how much more they will appreciate us if we give them a
world of harmony to inherit? let us start respecting and caring for nature from
now on.
let us start the campaign of creating a mutually beneficial relationship
between people and nature right from this moment.
with this new start, i firmly believe, that our children, and our childrens
children will live in a brand new age of green trees, clean air, crystal water,
blue sky and an even more promising world!
