My son Joey was born with club feet. The doctors assured us that with treatment he would be able to walk normally — but would never run very well. The first three years of his life were spent in surgery, casts and braces. By the time he was eight, you wouldnt know he had a problem when you saw him walk .

The children in our neighborhood ran around as most children do during play, and Joey would jump right in and run and play, too. We never told him that he probably wouldnt be able to run as well as the other children. So he didnt know.

In seventh grade he decided to go out for the cross—country team. Every day he trained with the team. He worked harder and ran more than any of the others — perhaps he sensed that the abilities that seemed to come naturally to so many others did not come naturally to him. Although the entire team runs, only the top seven runners have the potential to score points for the school. We didnt tell him he probably would never make the team, so he didnt know.

He continued to run four to five miles a day, every day — even the day he had a 103—degree fever. I was worried, so I went to look for him after school. I found him running all alone. 记得有一天，我和几位小伙伴、两个表弟在后花园的小巷奔跑时，看见了一把破烂不堪的雨伞。我们几个好奇地望望雨伞，一下玩性大发，一个接一个跳到伞的另一边去。我也正在向前跑，突然，一块大石头绊住了我，我一个踉跄，跌了下去，一根又尖又长的东西划伤了膝盖，我爬起来一看，惊呼;‘‘天啊!’’一条又深又粗的伤口正在不停地流血。我急了，疼痛难忍的我嚎啕大哭，声音穿过了好几条巷子。小伙伴和表弟问;‘‘你怎么样了?我们去找人来救你。’’我点了点头。姑姑出去忙了，不能求助于她。正在小伙伴和表弟满世界找人的时候，邻居阿姨闻声出来，一看见我正在淌血的膝盖，马上翻出医药箱，提着跑了过来。她从医药箱里翻出了一瓶碘酒，用棉花蘸一下，涂抹在我的伤口上。我咬咬牙，望了一下阿姨，她头上大汗满淋，嘴里还喃喃地说;‘‘你是怎么回事?伤成这样是很严重的……’’我感动了，轻轻地说;‘‘谢谢您，阿姨!’’她正在为我的伤口治疗，无心去听我的话。不一会儿，伤口完全包扎好了。我正要感谢阿姨时，她却走远了，边走边说;‘‘你下次小心点儿，希望别留下疤痕呀!’’我的眼泪夺眶而出，别人七嘴八舌地说些什么，我也听不进去了。

后来，我的膝盖上还是留了伤疤，我永远都不会忘记那位外表冷酷，内心热情的品德高尚的邻居阿姨。

我的家一共有五口人，奶奶、爷爷、爸爸、妈妈和我。

爸爸在劳动局工作，工作很勤劳，但是在家里有些懒，例如：早上起来的时侯，他几乎每次都是最晚起来的，爱睡懒觉。

妈妈在电信局工作，不是很懒也不是很勤快，只要爷爷奶奶在这里她就不是很爱做事，可爷爷奶奶不在这她就很勤快。

我嘛，是一个三年级的学生，成绩还可以，在家里作业一做完只看一下课外书就玩儿，爸爸妈妈老说我，不过我已经改了许多。爸爸妈妈有时还表扬我。

这就是我的家，一个幸福的家!
