彭先觉是我国著名的原子核物理学专家，曾任中国工程物理研究院(简称中物院)科技委主任。因研究工作功勋卓著，1999年当选为中国工程院能源与矿业工程学部院士。作为新中国自己培养出来的科学家，他科研功底扎实、治学严谨、勤于思考、善于创新、严于律己、乐于助人，是一位公认的优秀学术领头人。然而成功的背后，总是凝聚着艰辛与汗水，在彭先觉看来，他一系列辉煌成果的取得，是“八分汗水，二分天智”的结果。正如大发明家爱迪生所言：“天才是百分之一的灵感，百分之九十九的汗水。”彭先觉也不例外。

出生于解放前的彭先觉，成才之路是十分艰辛的。他的父亲彭思伏念过几年私塾，在那个年代贫穷落后的乡下，算得上是个小知识分子。他的母亲很贤惠，一生勤俭，持家有方。他的祖父彭昆裕也念过两年私塾，大革命时期参加过当地农民协会，对时局变迁较为关心。小先觉5岁时，祖父就教他读“三字经”，并经常给孙儿们讲古时候的小故事，小先觉经常听得入迷。那时，母亲对他管教很严，经常督促他读书、背书、写字。这样的童年教育对彭先觉一生的成长都有着重要的影响。

1950年秋，彭先觉就读于村办小学，三年后考上湘潭县一中。他一直走读上学。由于家庭经济困难，上课时间在学校读书，放学后和礼拜天必须帮家里干活。初中阶段听老师讲授中国近代史，激发了爱国热忱，他暗下决心，要学好本领，将来报效祖国，为国家富强和人民幸福出力。1956年，彭先觉考取本校高中，仍是走读生。当时学校推行勤工俭学制度，课堂教学减少了，但参加社会实践的机会较多。有一次，学校组织高中学生参加装运石灰劳动，将窑厂烧制的石灰用独轮车运到十几华里之外的河边装船;山路崎岖，每辆车装载着近300斤重的石灰，一天来回运送两趟，连续干了半个多月。这项劳动十分艰辛，坚持下来确实不易，但却锻炼了彭先觉的毅力和合作精神。

作为学生，许多人的其他科目优势都能被英语这门科目好多了，但无论如何学好英语对学生的将来只有利大于弊，如果其他都学好只有英语差，对将来是不利的，要想睁大眼睛看世界，就得努力使自己插上翅膀飞出中国面对多样化，缤纷多彩的世界，到一个发达的地区闯出一片天，再把自己的国家发展好。

义务教育阶段时期在小学时便把语文，数学英语，这三门科目定为了主要学习科目，其实英语只要从小学基础打起，便觉得好学，多听，多说，脑海里会自然形成像语文那样会听，会说的一种能力。
