后来高尔基又结识了知心朋友小茨冈，两人无话不谈，结下了深厚的友谊。可是，好景不常，可怜的小茨冈就被两个凶狠的舅舅给害死了。高尔基就这样失去了好友。雅可夫和米哈依尔是魔鬼，欧打自己的老婆，还天天闹着要分家产，兄弟之间一点也不团结，两个儿子萨沙也被教坏，处处捉弄高尔基。此后，高尔基又认识了木匠“好事情”,成了好友。结果被外祖父赶走，高尔基得了个继父，十分凶常打人，几年后，最疼爱他的外婆死了，母亲也死了，就被外祖父赶出门靠捡垃圾为生。

在我们这些90年后的孩子中，我们都有一个美好快乐的童年，可高尔基却有一个不幸的童年。小小年纪的高尔基离开了父母身边，在他外祖父家目睹了舅舅们为了家产争吵斗殴，愚弄弱者，毒打儿童的令人作呕的丑事。我虽然知道，那个时候的社会是黑暗的，低层社会的生活就是这么无奈，可我无法想象一个小孩子在这种社会下是怎样生活的。

在我印象中，有这么一个镜头，一直在我脑海里徘徊，想忘却忘不了。小高尔基的舅舅们为了家产，残忍的用十字架压死了他们家的一个工人。这个工人无声无息的死掉了，人们也很快忘掉了他，似乎从来没有他这么一个人，也从来没发生过这么一件事。我无法理解，这就是人们对待生命的态度！我不敢相信，他们那颗肉做的心真的已经变成了石头般坚硬！

沙皇统治下的俄国底层社会是黑暗的，可高尔基并没有被这黑暗侵蚀，他仍保持善良的品性，并且从未放弃过对美好生活的追求。对于这点，我对高尔基感到由衷的敬佩。在童年里有这么一段话：“在这块广阔而又肥沃的土地上，丑陋，卑鄙和健康，善良一同生长着，而后者点燃了我们的希望，因为幸福离我们不再遥不可及！”读完整本书，我最不能忘记的就是这段话。虽然身处黑暗，却不曾被黑暗所吞噬。在高尔基家的工人死时，无一人为此感到伤心，只有他为此感到难过；在他看到他外祖父殴打外祖母时，他会冒着被外祖父毒打的危险前去帮助外祖母；在他周围的人都被黑暗笼罩时，他敢于冲破黑暗，走向光明。我敬佩他那善良纯洁的心，他那敢于与黑暗斗争的勇敢，他那对美好生活的憧憬与向往。

童年教会了我许多人生哲理。无论你生活在怎样污浊的环境，始终要保持一颗善良正直的心，也不要放弃对生活的追求与向往。在我们当今社会中，也有丑恶的现实，它们是那么沉重，那么令人窒息和作呕，可我们要想将它们从我们的生活中清除掉，就必须了解它们。所以我们必须要有勇于面对黑暗现实的决心和勇气。
