The Chinese New Year is very similar to the Western one, rich in traditions, folklores and rituals. It has been said that it is a combination of the Western Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. This is hardly an exaggeration!

The origin of the Chinese New Year itself is centuries old - in fact, too old to actually be traced. It is popularly recognized as the Spring Festival and celebrations last 15 days.

Preparations tend to begin a month before the date of the Chinese New Year (similar to a Western Christmas). During this time people start buying presents, decoration materials, food and clothing. A huge clean-up gets underway days before the New Year, when Chinese houses are cleaned from top to bottom. This ritual is supposed to sweep away all traces of bad luck. The end of the New Year is marked by the Festival of Lanterns, which is a celebration with singing, dancing and lantern shows.

Lion dancers perform on stage continuously. Visitors take home plants and flowers symbolizing good luck. An array of New Years specialty food is available in the Food Market. There are four seasons in the year. They’re spring, summer, autumn and

winter.

Spring is warm and sunny. In spring days, everything in our nature is

green, so we can go out to release ourselves and breathe the fresh air. I think

its a good way to enjoy our beautiful nature.

Summer is hot and rainy, but summer is the best season for entertainment,

because we can go swimming in the sea and enjoy the beautiful sunshine on the

A school on Wednesday afternoon, my father took us a non-stop back to my hometown "makin" to the Chinese traditional festival "Mid-Autumn festival". We are talking and laughing all the way of happiness.

"Every festive holiday times", the thought of a person at home grandma, we decided to go home and grandma spend Mid-Autumn festival together. Is really anxious to return! Car for about five hours finally came home, see grandma with a smile we also very happy!

The Mid-Autumn festival evening we had a good family reunion dinner, eat moon cakes. Heaven is round full moon hanging in the sky at this moment, we several children carrying a straw in the moonlight "grass dragon" to the above with "sweet", and then we went door to door to send blessings, they can take out the candy cakes sent to us. The us can be happy!

This years Mid-Autumn festival is one of the most happy Ive.

星期三下午一放学，爸爸就带我们一家马不停蹄地赶回我的老家“马金”去过中国传统节日“中秋节”。一路上我们说说笑笑，快乐无比。

“每逢佳节倍思亲“，一想到奶奶一个人在老家，我们决定回老家和奶奶一起过中秋。真是归心似箭啊!车子开了大概五个小时终于到家了，看到奶奶满脸的笑容我们也很开心!

中秋节晚上我们吃好团圆饭，吃过了月饼。天上这时已是一轮圆月挂在星空，我们几个小朋友在月光下举着一个用稻草拧成的“草龙”上面插着“香”,然后我们挨家挨户的去送祝福，他们就会拿出糖果货糕点送给我们，我们可开心了!

今年的中秋节是我过的最开心快乐的一次。

Dear Sir,

I am working on a new project which is called A Survey of New Industry in the Maywood District. According to the design of our district, we need information about firms that have recently moved into this area. Your firm is one of the largest of these, so I shall be very grateful if you can spare the time to help me.

Three points are specially important to the project. The first one is the training schemes for school leavers. The second one is about the transport arrangements to overcome poor road and rail links in this district. The third is the plans for expansion.

Any other information will be useful, but those points are the ones with which I most need your help.
