The mini knitted garments have helped save hundreds of flightless birds caught in oil spills providing protection from the elements and stopping them from ingesting poisonous pollution.

Knits for Nature a program run by The Penguin Foundation which conserves the little penguin population of Phillip Island 140km south-east of Melbourne has created up to 300 different designs over the years - and its all thanks to talented volunteers.

‘There’s a lot of hidden creativity out there said Lyn Blom of the Phillip Island Nature Park.

People love to know that they’re helping the penguins because they’re so cute and small and they waddle up the beach and they’re so feisty. But they need to be they live in a pretty tough sort of environment.’

A thumbnail-sized patch of oil can kill little penguins the smallest of the species measuring just 13 inches (33cm) and weighing 2.2lbs (1kg). The oil separates and mats their feathers breaking natural waterproofing and heating functions.

Ms Blom estimates she has knitted between 200 and 300 penguin jumpers over the years including ones in the colours of every Australian Rules football team in the country.

A staff member read an article in an English women’s magazine about knitting for guillemot birds and decided to adapt the designs.

‘There’s an awful lot of ladies out there who used to knit for their children and grandchildren. These ladies have spare wool and idle hands and they love to feel loved and needed and we love and need them’ said Ms Blom.

The Penguin Foundation recently staged a competition for the most creative jumper which received an enthusiastic response.

This holiday is my best busy holiday for I am learning English, computer

I consider my parents as the most important people in my life. This is not because they’re wealthy or famous. Rather, what I value about most is the care and love they show to me.

My parents might work hard, but they’re always there for me. Whenever I get into trouble and desperately need a hand, they come over first to support me and encourage me. I grew up with their constant care and love. While they’re getting older with grey hair and wrinkles, they never lose dignity in both life and jobs.

My family portrait

Are you seeing that picture of my familyThe sun was shining brightly! My parents sat together in sofa. My mother hugged my brother, and I stood beside on my father. We were smile sweetly to the camera. All we us look like very happy although we were a poor family at that time.

My mother is not tall, not short but slim. She has a round face, two big eyes, a small nose and small mouth. She’s beautiful. She is forty-three years old, but she looks so young! She is my dear friends .

You must feel very strange to my father because he having full-white hairs, just look like a old man. My parent’s relationship is old husband and young wife. He is older than my mother 20 years. He can as my grandfather at his age.

You can see that my father wear a long sleeve shirt and look like a gracious man to camera. In my daily life, he is a bad-tempered man. He looks up to boy and down on girl. So he is very strict to me because I am a girl. He takes particular care for my brother. Well , his finger is long and thin. He often uses finger to tooth my ears as I was a child , wow!

My father has a bad habit that he likes smoking very much. I hate it. See, the house is full of smoke. I know it bad for his health as well as my mother, brother and mine. We advise him to give up smoking. I’m sure he will follow my advice some day.

My father like to reading newspapers after meals. He also likes reading in his spare time. He told me reading little by little. I like books, because they help me in many ways.

I ever upset that my father having white hairs before I enter to college as I would always compared him to my friend’s young father. You know, I rebelled when I was in high school. Well, I am very respecting him now. I am having the feelings of important to my family. I love my parents and brother. They are plays an important roles in my whole life.

Such is my family, I am proud of having such a good family!

每当我听到这首感人肺腑的歌曲，就不由自主地想起养育我十年的爸爸妈妈。在这十年里，他们无微不至的照顾我，传授我知识，教我做人的道理，把我从呱呱落地的婴儿培养成一位乖巧懂事的姑娘。岁月悠悠，波光明灭，唯有父母的爱依然如旧，父母的爱深如大海，重如泰山，一件件，一幕幕常在我的脑海回荡。

同学们，我们从哪里来?听到这个问题，大家肯定都会说，是父母把我们带到世界上来的。是啊，十多年前的某一天，我们的父母用泪水和幸福的笑容迎接了我们的到来。但当我们来到世上的那一刻起，父母们却多了一项繁重的工作——照顾我们。尽管这是一种沉重的负担，但父母们却毫无怨言地抚养我长大。为了给我们一个舒适的生活环境，他们总是那么辛苦，那么努力。小的时候，我总把这当作天经地义，因为我不了解，也不知道父母的辛苦。现在，我长大了，我知道该怀着一颗

感恩之心去体谅父母，应该担当起，照顾、孝敬父母的责任。

因为有了父母才有了我，才使我有机会在这五彩缤纷的世界里体味人生的冷暖，享受生活的快乐与幸福，是他们给了我生命，给了我无微不至的关怀。儿女有了快乐，最为之开心的是父母，儿女有了苦闷，最为之牵挂的也是父母，舔犊情深，父母之爱，深如大海。因此，不管父母的社会地位、知识水平以及其它素养如何，他们都是我们今生最大的恩人，是值得我们永远去爱的人。

然而，同学们，你们是否扪心自问过：我对父母的挂念又有多少呢?你是否留意过父母的生日?民间有谚语：儿生日，娘苦日。当你在为自己生日庆贺时，你是否想到过用死亡般的痛苦，让你降生的母亲呢?是否曾真诚地给孕育你生命的母亲一声祝福呢?我们中国是一个文明古国，自古讲求孝道，孔子言：“父母之年，不可不知也。一则以喜，一则以惧。”也就是讲，父母的身体健康，儿女应时刻挂念在心。但据报道，今年北京某中学的抽样调查却显示：有近50%的学生竟不知道自己父母的生日，更谈不上对父母的生日祝福。同学们，或许一声祝福对自己算不了什么，但对父母来说，这声祝福却比什么都美好，都难忘，都足以使他们热泪盈眶!孝，其为人之本也，一个只有懂得感恩父母的人,才能算是一个完整的人。同学们，让我们学会感恩父母吧!用一颗感恩的心去对待父母，用一颗真诚的心去与父母交流，不要再认为父母是理所当然帮我们做任何事情的，他们把我们带到这美丽的世界，已经是足够的伟大，且将我们养育成人，不求回报，默默的为我们付出，我们就别再一味地索求他们的付出，感恩吧，感谢父母们给予的一点一滴。

父爱不像母爱甜蜜，父爱和母爱一样无私伟大，感谢爸爸严厉的默默无闻的爱，虽然有时我不能理解。我永远忘不了那一次，老师布置了一项查资料的作业，那天的作业特别多，已经晚上9点多了，可我作业还没做完，心想让爸爸帮忙查资料，反正这项作业不重要。可是当我对爸爸说时，爸爸象没听见一样。当时，我十分生气，心想爸爸真是个小气鬼，这点忙都不肯帮。随着时间的流逝，我渐渐明白了爸爸的用心，爸爸是想告诉我自己的事情自己做。

一个个甜甜的吻，一杯杯香香的热牛奶，一个个鼓励的眼神，一句句激励的话语...父母无声无息的爱数也数不清。
