As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

小时候，无忧无虑，不知道生活的烦恼与压力，也不懂得累的定义，只知道玩具与糖果可以让我快乐，其它什么都不想，也搞不懂，是一个快乐的活神仙。

我认为世上只有快乐，一切顺其自然就好，包括对生活的态度。

在不知不觉中，岁月前进，老天爷爷开玩笑似的在正读小学三年级的我的生活中，加了一些调味料。有一天，在单纯快乐的世界中生活惯了的我，放肆地在课堂上大胆讲话。“钟蔓!”老师一声怒吼，“干嘛呢!上课怎么能讲话呢?真不像话……”我愣住了，同学位的目光， 一起投向了我，我无地自容，红着脸，低下了头，我忽然明白了自尊心和面子这一系列的词语意思。

从这开始，我有了烦恼----被老师批评了，伤了自尊，烦!考试差了，丢面子，伤心，烦!……我对生活的态度变得被动，我感到有好多好多的烦恼，经常愁眉不展，老天，能把我再带回无忧的年代吗?

快乐的我，变得多愁，我仿佛变了一个人，直到四年级有一天——

我无意在一本书中看到一句话：“这一天总是要去，开心过一天，伤心过一天，哪个划算，自己知道!”我忽然懂得了什么以，不禁一笑。有什么可以阻挡我对生活的热情的态度呢?快乐一点一点地驻入我的生活。

我开始改变对生活的被动，有一天，我和小A吵架了，按以前，我早已一个人生闷气了，但我脑海中闪哪句话，努力改变对生活的态度，过了会儿，我又露出了小时候的招牌微笑，同学们很吃惊，一个同学问我，我说：“何必自己气自己呢?已经成为了现实，不能改变，只有想办法挽回。生气是没有用的!对生活的态度决定一切!那位同学颇有震动，又若有所思，后来，在我的微笑下，我和小A和好了。

我尝到了改变以往的态度，抱以快乐阳光的生活态度生活的甜头。

小学快毕业了，学校出作文集，写自我介绍的送大家一句话时，我可犯了难，怎么写呢?我急着在老师办公室里转圈圈。同学开导我，“你一个活神仙，一天到晚嘻嘻哈哈的，这足够显示你“乐天派”的性格了!是啊，从四年级开始，我就不怕烦恼，也可以消灭烦恼，这不就是我的特点吗?我坐下在电脑里打了一段字：“你不能左右天气，但可以改变对生活的态度与心情，你对生活微笑，那么生活也对你微笑，让我们的心，不再压抑，让它解脱吧。让自由的心灵去飞翔，去迎接明天绚丽的阳光吧!”

是啊，只要改变了对生活的态度，那么自由的心就会解脱，不会再有烦恼。

我好像又回到了以前，无忧无虑，如此快活!其实，只要改变了对生活的态度，以阳光的心态去对待它，便没有什么可以使人烦恼……变得无忧无虑。

Living in a city has both advantages and disadvantages. It is often easier to find work. There are always many choices of public transport. Besides, there are a lot of interesting things to do and places to see. You can eat in good restaurants, visit museums, go to cinemas and go to parks whenever you want to relax. However, living in a city is often very expensive. You must find a well-paid job, otherwise, you will not be able to afford the things you will do. Whats more, the city is always crowded, noisy and dirty. It is very difficult to find a good place where people can enjoy peace and fresh air as in the countryside.
