When we watch the TV series, there is always the similar plot, in order to fulfill the dreams, the protagonist give up the best time for the treatment, though they are seriously ill. This sounds so inspiring, the spirit of pursuing the dreams moves so many audiences, but for me, besides moved, I feel more sorry about the protagonists, for their unwise choices. Life is important, only the living person can have the rights to talk about the dreams, if they lose their lives, everything is impossible. So health is more important than dreams, people need to keep themselves healthy first, and then they can better fulfill their dreams. The wise person will choose to get the treatment and give up the dreams for a while, when they recover, they continue their dreams. So health first, then other things rank second.

I love basketball. I want to be a basketball player. In the future, in

about ten years，Ill be on our country basketball team. I will be the captain of

our team. I will live in New York. Why?Because I will play basketball in NBA. I

will do best in it. So, I will be very famous. In my free time, I will travel

the world. I like Europe. The people there are very polite, and the cities are

very beautiful. Maybe I will go there to spend my holiday. I might even live

Nowadays there are still many behaviors against public morality, such as

spiting or littering in public places, cutting in line, wasting water or

electricity and so on.

One of the main reasons for these immoral behaviors is that some people

lack personal manners and public consciousness. Actually these small things in

many peoples eyes have brought great bad effects on our community. Above all,

these immoral behaviors disturb social order and disrupt socialsbility.

Moreover, ones violating public morality not only evades others benefits but

also does harm to himself. For example, if most people buy pirated products,

those original producers will suffer great damage and might lose the enthusiasm

to continue their producing. Which in turn, influences consumers taking the

profits into consideration, I think it is high time that we would take more

effective measures to improve public morals.

First of all, education plays a very vital role. We must utilize education

to make people know their behaviors influence on the society and follow public

morals consciously. Besides the government should improve the administration

system and ensure the efficient improvement of administration measures.

寒假里的一天，天气很晴朗，但是在嵊州大桥却发生了一齐车祸。但那个老人的宽容，使我永生难忘。

一辆摩托车在嵊州大桥上飞驰，而一辆自行车却在慢吞吞地开。突然，“砰”的一声巨响，划破了整个宁静的天空。原先，是刚才的摩托车与自行车相撞了。在行驶的车辆纷纷停下来围观，我也挤进去凑凑热闹。

As a high school student, I am always confused about myself. I want to

catch other peoples attention, I think most girls will have such desire. So

when I see the girls look so beautiful, I am so longing to be one of them. I

start to lose my weight and try not to eat the delicious food. Whats more, I

spend a lot of money to buy clothes. My friends have felt my change and some

boys look at me, I feel so happy. But in the long run, I feel lost, my friends

and I are not that close anymore. I cant focus attention on my study, then I

feel annoyed. I decide to give up losing weight and dressing beautiful clothes.

Everything is back on the track. I feel relieved and easy. This is the new me

and the real me.

the whole world is down and there is no hope for tomorrow. When we look back

after many years, the difficulties at that time are just small matters, only if

we can hold on to these. Life is wonderful, there is no need to let down on life

when we meet difficulties, like a popular song“How can we see the rainbow

without the storm”. Once I failed on the exam, I feel my world is over, I

couldn’t eat well, I just let my parents down, I was so guilty about it. My

teacher told me that the exam was not a big deal, I should forget it and kept

moving on. Since than, I work hard and trying to forget it. Now when I look back

on the failing exam, I think it is not a big deal.

眼看日子一天天过去了，我最期待的暑假即将到来了，这次的暑假我一定要好好的充实自己，学英语、素描、数学……等，好好的安排我的暑假生活，让它充实又快乐。

暑假一开始，我马上去学游泳、英语。刚开始在学英语时，老师在讲什么我都听不懂，俗话说得好：「要学就要问」，所以我就把不会的问题勇敢的举手告诉老师，经由老师细心的解释，再加上我已经学了二、叁年，本来对英语懵懵懂懂的我，现在已经可以跟外国人对话了，还可以很流畅的说出一句生活用语。所以学英语对我来说，真是受益良多，我不但没有辜负老师的期望，也没有浪费父母的钱，真是事半功倍啊!

游泳对我来说，就像是下地狱般的痛苦!因为我害怕游泳，我害怕被同学嘲笑我穿起泳衣很胖，可是我心中的小天使却告诉我说：婕宁，不要害怕，妳不要害怕游泳，不要害怕同学会嘲笑妳，妳只要学好妳该学的就好了。结果，游泳并不是我想像中的那样难，想不到同学根本就不会嘲笑我，老师也对我很好。虽然在学习的过程中有一些小挫折，但是我还是努力的克服了，我学会了仰式、蛙式、自由式、蝶式，而且还通过了九级检定，这一切都是老师的功劳。所以，以后如果有人溺水，我就可以自告奋勇的去救他了。

My winter vacation

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 oclock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 oclock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

But I havent bored all the time. Sometimes I read the books, sometime I listen to the music or the radio in the bed, because it was very cold outside and snowy all the day. And I also meat some of my good friends during the vacation, we have a very long talk about the life of each other in the past year and play table tennis tegether. And I watched the spring festival party of the CCTV in the last seconds of the 2004 year! I think this is the thing most people of china doing at that time.

My mother is a virtuous wife and good mother.She has medium height and

beautiful face.She is a generous,good natured and warm-hearted woman.She looks

like actor Zhong Li Ti.

My mother has retired now.She lives on pension/social welfare and lives

with us.She is good at cooking,often treat us lavish dinner,consisting of

different dishes form various provinces.I like eat my mother dishes very

much.

She likes watch TV.My mother and I like to visit relatives

What the picture illustrates is the prevailing situation that has long existed in todays China. That is the mobile phone obsession. With the advent of information age, people are becoming increasingly fascinated on the electronic products, especially the cell phones. My face looks like a castle room, but the inside is always very chaotic，but

I have a big family, there are seven people in my family, my mon, dad, two grandpas, two grandmas and me. My dad is soldier, he works in police station. My mom works in the bank, she is an accountant. They both are very busy in working, I can only play with them in the weekend. My grandpas and grandmas dont work for company, but they are volunteers and often take me to do the voluntary labor.

entering the convenience store was like entering the twilight zone. on the outside i was a healthy, athletic, pre-med student, but on the inside i was just another statistic of a violent crime. i thought i was entering an empty store, but suddenly i realized it was not empty at all. three robbers were in the process of committing a robbery and my entrance into the store caught them by surprise. one of the criminals immediately shoved a .38 caliber handgun to my head, ordered me to the cooler, pushed me down on the floor, and pumped a bullet into the back of my head -- execution style. he obviously thought i was dead because he did not shoot me again. the trio of thieves finished robbing the store and left calmly.

meanwhile, sharon wondered why i had not returned. after seeing the three men leave the store she really began to worry as i was the last person she saw entering the store. she quickly went inside to look for me, but saw no one-only an almost empty cash register containing one check and several pennies. quickly she ran down each aisle shouting, "mike, mike!"

when the police arrived they immediately called the homicide division as they did not think i would survive and the paramedic reported that she had never seen a person so severely wounded survive. at 1:30 a.m. my parents who lived in houston, were awakened by a telephone call from brackenridge hospital advising them to come to austin as soon as possible for they feared i would not make it through the night.

but i did make it through the night and early in the morning the neurosurgeon decided to operate. however, he quickly informed my family and sharon that my chances of surviving the surgery were only 40/60. if this were not bad enough, the neurosurgeon further shocked my family by telling them what life would be like for me if i beat the odds and survived. he said i probably would never walk, talk, or be able to understand even simple commands.

my family was hoping and praying to hear even the slightest bit of encouragement from that doctor. instead, his pessimistic words gave my family no reason to believe that i would ever again be a productive member of society. but once again i beat the odds and survived the three and a half hours of surgery. granted, i still could not talk, my entire right side was paralyzed and many people thought i could not understand, but at least i was stable. after one week in a private room the doctors felt i had improved enough to be transferred by jet ambulance to del oro rehabilitation hospital in houston.

my hallucinations, coupled with my physical problems, made my prognosis still very bleak. however, as time passed my mind began to clear and approximately six weeks later my right leg began to move ever so slightly. within seven weeks my right arm slowly began to move and at eight weeks i uttered my first few words. my speech was extremely difficult and slow in the beginning, but at least it was a beginning. i was starting to look forward to each new day to see how far i would progress. but just as i thought my life was finally looking brighter i was tested by the hospital euro-psychologist. she explained to me that judging from my test results she believed that i should not focus on returning to college but that it would be better to set more "realistic goals."

意识上的幻觉和生理上的病疾使我的病情预断非常的渺茫。然而时间的飞逝使我的意识开始变得清晰，大约六个星期以后我的右腿可以轻微地活动了，七周以后我的右臂开始缓慢地活动了，八周以后我终于开口说话了。说话对于我非常地艰难并且开始的时候说得很慢，但是总算是开头了。我开始寄希望于新的一天的到来，祈望着新的进步。但正当我以为生活总算初露光明的时候，医院里有个欧洲来的心理学家对我做了测试。她向我解释到，从检测的结果来看她坚信我不能再重返学校，劝我对此不要抱有任何希望，希望我最好树立些更现实点的目标。

upon hearing her evaluation i became furious for i thought, "who is she to tell me what i can or cannot do. she does not even know me. i am a very determined and stubborn person!" i believe it was at that very moment that i decided i would somehow, someday return to college.

她的这番结论让我怒不可遏，“她是谁，凭什么告诉我能做什么或不能做什么。她根本不了解我。我是很坚强而固执的人!”我相信就在那时我决定无论如何，总有一天我会返回学校的。

it took me a long time and a lot of hard work but i finally returned to the university of texas in the fall of 1983 -- a year and a half after almost dying. the next few years in austin were very difficult for me, but i truly believe that in order to see beauty in life you have to experience some unpleasantness. maybe i have experienced too much unpleasantness, but i believe in living each day to the fullest, and doing the very best i can. and each new day was very busy and very full, for besides attending classes at the university i underwent therapy three to five days each week at brackenridge hospital. if this were not enough i flew to houston every other weekend to work with tom williams, a trainer and executive who had worked for many colleges and professional teams and also had helped many injured athletes, such as earl campbell and eric dickerson. through tom i learned: "nothing is impossible and never, never give up or quit."

early, during my therapy, my father kept repeating to me one of his favorite sayings. i have repeated it almost every day since being hurt: "mile by mile its a trial; yard by yard its hard; but inch by inch its a cinch."

早在我接受治疗的时候，父亲总是重复他最爱的那句话，每天当我感到痛苦的时候我也对自己重复那句话，那就是“脚踏实地，切勿急功近利。”

i thought of those words, and i thought of tom, my family and sharon who believed so strongly in me as i climbed the steps to receive my diploma from the dean of liberal arts at the university of texas on that bright sunny afternoon in june of 1986. excitement and pride filled my heart as i heard the dean announce that i had graduated with "highest honors", been elected to phi beta kappa, and been chosen as one of 12 deans distinguished graduates out of 1600 in the college of liberal arts. the overwhelming emotions and feelings that i experienced at that very moment, when most of the audience gave me a standing ovation, i felt would never again be matched in my life-not even when i graduated with a masters degree in social work and not even when i became employed full time at the texas pain and stress center. but i was wrong!

1986年六月那个阳光明媚的午后，当我步履蹒跚地走上德克萨斯大学迪安文学院的台阶接受文凭的时候，我思索着这些话，想到汤姆、父母还有沙伦，他们都那么坚定地给予了我信任。当我听到院长宣布我以最高荣誉毕业时，我的心中充满了骄傲和自信。接着他还宣布我被选入美国大学优等生荣誉学会，并在1600名毕业生中当选为12名迪安文学院的杰出毕业生之一。当场有许多观众站起来为我鼓掌，那一刻令我心潮澎湃、百感交集。我甚至觉得生命中不可能再经历那样的感慨和激情，这种想法一直延续到我获得社会学的硕士学位，成为德克萨斯止痛减压中心的一名全职工作人员。但幸运之神再次眷顾了我!

on may 24, 1987, i realized that nothing could ever match the joy i felt as sharon and i were married. sharon, my high school sweetheart of nine years, had always stood by me, through good and bad times. to me, sharon is my miracle, my diamond in a world filled with problems, hurt, and pain. it was sharon who dropped out of school when i was hurt so that she could constantly be at my side. she never wavered or gave up on me. it was her faith and love that pulled me through so many dark days. while other nineteen year old girls were going to parties and enjoying life, sharon devoted her life to my recovery. that, to me, is the true definition of love. after our beautiful wedding i continued working part time at the pain center and completed my work for a masters degree. we were extremely happy, but even happier when we learned sharon was pregnant.

1987年5月24日，我觉得再没有什么能与此时的快乐相提并论，我和沙伦结婚了。沙伦是我高中时代的女友，风风雨雨九年来，她一直陪在我身旁。对我来说，她是我的奇迹，是我在这个充满困惑和伤痛的世界上拥有的一颗钻石。为了能日夜守侯在我的身旁，沙伦在我受伤的时候放弃了学业。她的爱从未动摇过，她从未抛弃过我。是她的忠诚和爱伴着我度过了无数个黑暗的日子。当别的十九岁的女孩子参加舞会、享受生活的时候，沙伦把青春献给了病床上的我，等待我的康复。对我来说，这就是爱的真谛。在那个美满的婚礼之后，我继续在止痛中心做着兼职的工作，并获得了我的硕士学位。我们非常的幸福，而沙伦怀孕的消息更让我们恩爱有加。

on july 11, 1990 at 12:15 a.m. sharon woke me with the news: "we need to go to the hospital… my water just broke." i couldnt help but think how ironic it was that my life almost ended in a convenience store and now on the date "7-11" we were about to bring a new life into this world. this time it was my turn to help sharon as she had helped me over those past years. she was in labor for 15 hours. at 3:10 p.m. sharon and i experienced the birth of our beautiful daughter, shawn elyse segal! tears of joy and happiness came to my eyes as our healthy, alert, wonderful daughter entered this world. we anxiously counted her 10 fingers and her 10 toes and watched her wide eyes take in the world about her. it was truly a beautiful picture that was etched in my mind forever as she lie in her mothers waiting arms, just minutes after her birth. at that moment i thanked god for blessing us with the greatest miracle of all-shawn elyse segal.

1990年7月11日12点15分，沙伦把我从梦中唤醒：“我们得去医院了……我羊水破了。”我忍不住想命运真让人啼笑皆非，它几乎让我在那家便利店里丢了性命，而在一个命名为“7·11”的日子里它却让我迎来新生命的出世。多年来沙伦帮我度过了一次又一次难关，这次该我来帮助她了。沙伦经历了15个小时的分娩。在3点10分的时候，沙伦和我一起迎来了我们美丽的女儿——萧恩·艾丽斯·斯高。当我看到美丽的女儿健康地来到这个世上，喜悦和幸福化作泪水夺眶而出。我们迫不及待地数着她的十个手指和十只脚趾，看着她大大的眼睛注视着她的世界。初生的婴儿躺在妈妈柔软的怀里如一副优美的图画将永驻我的心中。那一刻，我感谢上帝赐予我们如此最伟大的奇迹——我的萧恩·艾丽斯·斯高。

I have not only a lot of common friends, but also a special friend. He is my father. My father isn’t tall but he is very kind and lovely. He usually helps me with my maths and physics in the evening. At weekends he plays chess, cards with me. When I am in trouble. He always help me in time. I prefer my father to any other friend. I think he is not only a good father, but also one of my best friends. I love my father very much.

The person I admire is my mum. She is an English teacher. She is very popular among the students because she spends lots of time on her lessons and has a good sense of humor. Students all enjoy her class.

我敬佩的人是我的妈妈。她是一位英语老师。她很受学生的欢迎，因为她花了很多时间在功课上，而且很幽默。学生都很喜欢她的课。

My mum is not only a good teacher, but also a great mother. She is patient with me and always smiling while talking. My mum teaches me how to think independently and helps me to build up my confidence. When I have some difficulties in my studies, it is my mum who encourages me to work until I solve the problem. When I’m feeling sad or bad, it is also my mum who looks after me with care.

我的妈妈不仅是一位好老师，也是一位伟大的母亲。她对我很有耐心，说话时总是面带微笑。我妈妈教我如何独立思考，帮助我建立我的信心。当我在学习上有困难的，这是我妈妈鼓励我直到我解决问题。当我感到悲伤或糟糕的，也是妈妈照顾我。

I remember when I caught a fever at midnight last year, my mum took me to the hospital as fast as she could. When we got home after my injection, it was about 5 o’clock in the early morning. My mum only slept 2 hours because she had to wake up at 7 o’clock to prepare breakfast for me, and then she went to work. She must be very tired that day.

我记得当我去年在半夜发高烧，妈妈以最快的速度带我去医院。当我打完针回到家时，已经差不多凌晨五点。妈妈只睡了2个小时，因为她不得不在七点起床为我准备早餐，然后她去工作。她那天一定很累。

My mum is not very beautiful, but I admire her.

Australia is one of the famous Oceanian country. The country is famous for its wool production and seashore tour. As the climate there is warm and comfortable, many people spend vocations there every year. I’m a super fan of water entertainment, so I choose it as my destination.

In Australia, the sky is bluer than blue, the clouds are whiter than white, all the local people enjoy an optimistic and active life. They also show their kindness and enthusiasm to the tourists.

The first step should be Sydney Opera which is among the most brilliant and splendid architectures in the world. Many world-class plays are put on in it .The surface and shape of it is like a seashell with glory decorations inside.

Then Melbourne is a good choice to be as the next step. In Melbourne, skin screen is a must to take with as the sunshine is upset and may burn your skin. The most attractive thing to me is the Australia Open, which is one of the biggest world-class tennis competition. Many great players such as Roddick Federer and its local player Hewitt etc. gather to compete. It’s really a feast for the eyes.

Australia is also home to one of the most challenging and exciting surfing and diving projects. As we know, it is always called “a country riding on the back of sheep”. From the interesting saying ,we can know something about the rich wool-production country. If you love animals, kangaroos and kaolas are good company to you .

So don’t forget Australia when you plan a trip.

端午节，我就想起一首儿歌“五月五，是端阳。插艾叶，带香囊。吃粽子，撒白糖。龙舟下水喜洋洋。”一曲简单的儿歌就道出我国两千多年的传统节日——端午节。一到端午这一天全国各地的人们都要吃粽子，赛龙舟。

在我的家乡也一样，每到这一天，家家户户都忙得不亦乐乎，大家都在为过节准备。端午节的前两天，就看到奶奶，去市场买粽叶，糯米，回到家以后，奶奶先把粽叶放到一个盆子里，用水浸泡，使它变柔软，然后把糯米洗净，用水浸泡，经过一段时间的浸泡后，奶奶开始包粽子了。

首先先拿起一片粽叶，把它卷成一个椎体，然后再把糯米填到这个椎体李，填满以后，用其余的粽叶把它紧紧的裹住，接着用麻线把它困起来，奶奶就像这样一个一个的包着，不一会，一串粽子就包好了。终于到了端午这一天，妈妈一早就出去买菜了，奶奶从冰箱里取出之前包好的粽子，放到锅里开始煮，妈妈不久也回来了，这时妈妈拿出在市场买的艾叶，把它挂在门上面，然后准备菜肴。

经过了一天的准备，我们的晚餐开始了，我们一家人围坐在饭桌前，为先人屈原祈祷后开始用餐，这是电视里也在播放赛龙舟的画面，我不由得想起屈原，希望他能听到我们的祈祷，不会刚到寂寞。

端午节是我们中国人两千多年的传统节日，他的延续不仅是龙的节日，还是一种精神的延续。
