水污染也是造成水资源稀缺的重要原因。中国年均排放工业污水200亿吨，甚至个别黑心工厂的污水没地方排放，就挖井将污水排到了水井中。地下水受到严重污染，周边居民已无法继续引用自家井水，若是这被污染的地下水蔓延开来后果更是不堪设想。
