Our increasing population witt tremendously increase urban waters, primarily sewage. On the other hand, increasing demands for water witt decrease substantially the amount of water available for diluting wastes. Rapidly expanding industries which involve more and more complex chemical processes will produce large volumes of liquid wastes. Many of thesewitt contain chemicals that are poisonous. To feed our rapidly expanding population, agriculture will have to be intensified. This will involve ever increasing quantities of agriculture chemicals. From this, it is apparent that drastic steps must be taken immediately to develop corrective measures for the pollution problems.

There are two ways by which these pollution problems can be lessened. The first relates to the treatment of wastes to decrease their pollution hazard. This involves the processing of solid wastes "prior to" disposal and the treatment of liquid wastes to permit the reuse to the water or best reduce pollution upon final disposal. The second approach is to develop an economic use for all or part of the wastes. Farm manure is spread in fields as a nutrient. Wastes from sewage disposal plants are used in some areas both for irrigation and for the nutrients contained. Liquid wastes from other processing plants may also be used as a supplemental source of water. Only by doing these promptly now can we expect to solve the serious water problems in the future.

水是人类及其他生物繁殖的基本条件，是人类生活不可替代的重要资源。有这么一则公益广告：“人类最后一滴水，就是自己的眼泪!”此时，我仿佛看见一滴硕大的眼珠滚落而下，坠地有声。泪珠的后面到处是裂开的土地，枯死的庄稼，我隐隐听见大自然因干渴垂危而发出的痛苦呻吟。

或许有人会认为这则广告有些危言耸听，但一个个鲜活的事例却给它加上了充分的注脚。这是一个真实的故事：2006年，我国西部直辖市重庆遇到了干旱，那时烈日当头，土地晒得开了缝，每条缝都足有三四十厘米深，二三十厘米宽，残忍得连庄稼也低下了头，人们颗粒无收。有人说：“十天不饮食不要紧，十天不饮水可是天大的事了。”事实证明了一切：重庆地带的人们因为干渴，有些幼儿和老年人因几天没饮水，竟然离开了人世。

素有“泉城”之称的济南，曾是“家家泉、依依柳”，水够多了吧，许多缺水城市都羡慕不已。可如今的济南，因要全面建设小康社会，地下水开发过度，引起家喻户晓的名胜趵突泉几度停喷。老舍笔下那股鲜活，富有生命力的泉水已成为泉城美好而痛苦的回忆，又一个缺水城市即将展现在我们的眼前。听了这个故事你会有什么感觉呢?

据我所知：我国是一个干旱缺水严重的国家。我国的淡水资源总量为28000亿立方米，但是，我国的人均水资源总量仅仅只有2300立方米，为世界平均水平的四分之一，是全球人均水资源最贫乏的国家之一。然而，中国有十三亿人口，是世界上用水量最多的国家。有人说：“浪费一滴水无所谓，我们不缺这一点，水龙头一开，水哗哗地流淌出来。”真是如此吗?不，一个个鲜活的事例早就否定了这一切。

人类不爱惜水资源，不保护生态平衡，终究还是尝到了自己种下的苦果。如今，很多人天天喝着受污染的水，咀嚼着受污染的粮食。人们在享受现代工业文明的同时，也遭受着水污染带来的威胁，由此而造成社会损失和经济损失非数字可以罗列。这是大自然对人类的报复，是对人类咎由自取的大嘲讽!

水是生命的源泉，是万物赖以生命的基础。节约用水，保护水资源是我们每一个人义不容辞的责任。为了那可爱有容易破碎的地球，让我们一起珍惜水资源，保护水资源吧

在墩煌，有个月牙泉。它已有上百年的历史，人们赞美它是天上的镜子。星星在玩耍的乐园，令人心驰神往。然而，随着时间的流逝，如今的月牙泉，在也不像以前那么雄伟，那么壮观。水底下的水生植物，早已被干枯至死。鱼儿也不像以前那样游得自由自在，一不小心就回栽到底下的泥坑里，水位也有明显下降，月牙泉的四周围起了珊栏。人们在也不能跟它近距离接触。由此可见，水对动物是多么重要!

一滴水，或许挽救不了一个人的生命，但却可以延续一个干渴的人的生命。一滴水，或许不可能让大地变得春意盎然，但却可以挽救一棵干枯的大树。

从电视上了解到：有只千斤重的大海龟，近几天来，它一直食欲不振，不肯进食。周围的工作人员心急如焚，找到兽医，原想为它做B超。可由于体积实在太重，连兽医也没有办法。几天后，大海龟死了，它悲惨地死去了。当工作人员将它解剖开时。才发现，原来大海龟的胃边，缠绕着一只黑色的塑料袋。据说，就是因为海水浑浊不清，大海龟看不清食物，才将塑料袋吞进了肚子里，导致无法进食，悲惨死去。

醒醒吧!可怕的人类!造成这种后果的罪魁祸首。其实就是你们!从现在开始，节约每一滴水，保护水源，拯救我们共同的朋友吧!

In the past twenty years, China has faced three American presidents, but till coming to Yale today, I never realized that China really just faced one university. Although, through these three presidents, I understand that the quality of Yale graduates is not so even.

在过去的二十年中，中国一直在跟美国的三任总统，但是今天到了耶鲁，我从来没有意识到，中国真的面临一个大学。虽然，透过这三位总统，我的理解是，耶鲁大学的毕业生的质量甚至是不。

Let me begin my main subject and let me give it a title, called “My Story and the Chinese Dream Behind It”. I want to talk about five particular years. The first is 1968. That year I was born. But it was also a chaotic year for the world. In France, there was this huge street disturbance, and in America, too. Then President Kennedy was assassinated. However, I really did not cause all of these! But that year what we remember more was the assassination of Mr. Martin Luther King. Although he fell that year, his words “I have a dream” stood up, not only stood up in America, but across the whole world.

But sadly, not only for me, but for almost all Chinese, we did not know such a dream. It was hard to describe each Chinese as having his or her own dream. China and America were so far apart, no less far apart than the Moon and the Earth. But I didn’t care about any of that. All I cared about was could I have a full meal. Clearly, I was born at a very inconvenient time, not only for China, but even for the world, there were problems.

现今的世界，淡水仅仅占总水量的百分之三，其中三分之二还是冰，可见现在世界上的水资源有多么贫乏!“假如地球上只剩下最后一滴水，那么就是我们的眼泪。”每听到这一句话，我的心就不住地紧张起来，害怕真有这么一天。

现在，中国真是发达了：工厂林立、高楼大厦随处可见。人口越来越多，水资源就不大供得上了，本来节省节省就够了，可人们却恣意浪费它，再加上污染，中国就这么变成了世界上十二个贫水国家之一! 绿地消融着，取代而之的是那贪婪、永不满意的沙漠。可罪魁祸首，却是人类自己!不敢想象，就这么样下去，地球会变成什么!撒哈拉大沙漠原本是一个很漂亮的地方。就是由于非洲地区的干燥炎热，使得它在三十年代到七十年代的时间内已经吞没了六百五十一平方千米的可耕地。现在，干旱已经波及到了毛里塔尼亚、马里、尼日利亚、乍得、苏丹、埃及、埃塞俄比亚等非洲的广大地区。

曾经目睹过这样一件事情，有一次，我和父母出去吃饭。在饭店的洗手间里，我看到一个水龙头开得很大却没人管。我问旁边的一位服务员阿姨：“阿姨，这水龙头怎么开得……”没等我说完，那位阿姨不耐烦地说道：“去，去，小孩子懂什么事?让它开着!又不是你付水费，走!”接下来，她就和别人说话去了，我好像听到这样一句话：“这个孩子真傻，水又不是供不上了，水用都用不完，干吗管这个!”那家饭店我记不清了，但那句刺耳的话一直在我心中回响，让我一辈子都不想去那家饭店了。水，真的用不完吗?答案是不。当这家饭店恣意浪费水，甚至以为水取之不尽时，有多少贫水山区的人们，正在极其渴望着一杯甚至一滴水，好滋润滋润他们干燥的口舌!

为了创造美好的环境，我们要珍惜每一滴水。让我们从身边小事做起，从自己做起，保护有限的水资源，保护人们赖以生存的环境。我希望人们能拿出实际行动来弥补过去的过失。

水， 是一切的生命之源。正因为有了水，才有了这个蔚蓝而美丽的星球，才使人类、动植物得以生存。

假如真的没有水，那会怎样呢?那地球上也会和火星、土星一样，没有生命，死气沉沉。那么，将不会有人类的出现，树木，花草等一切将不复存在。鲜花经过浇灌才会绽放，绿叶经过滋润才会美丽。如果没有水，鲜花会绽放吗?小溪会欢唱吗?小鸟会飞翔吗?小树会枝繁叶茂吗?答案不言而喻。

水资源是有限的。陆地上的淡水资源非常之少，地球的表面虽然被百分之七十的水所覆盖，但大多是海水，海水是咸水，不能直接利用，而淡水资源只占地球上水体总量的百分之二点五三，其中近百分之七十是固体冰川，即分布在两极地区和中、低纬度地区的高山冰川，还很难加以利用。目前人类比较容易利用的淡水资源，主要是河流水、淡水湖泊水，以及浅层地下水，储量约占全球淡水总储量的百分之零点三，只占全球总储水量的十万分之七。

在日常生活中，水总是不知不觉地被浪费掉。洗菜要一盆一盆地洗，要是开着水龙头冲，一餐饭就要耗水50千克。用洗衣机洗衣服满桶再洗，若分开两次洗，则多耗水120千克 。淘米水洗菜，再用清水清洗，不仅节约了水，还有效地清除了蔬菜上的残存农药。洗衣水洗拖帕、帚地板、再冲厕所。第二道清洗衣物的洗衣水擦门窗及家具、洗鞋袜等。 大、小便后冲洗厕所，尽量不开大水管冲洗，而充分利用使用过的“脏水”。 淋浴如果关掉水龙头擦香皂的话，洗一次澡可节水60千克。夏天给室内外地面洒水降温，尽量不用清水，而用洗衣之后的洗衣水。自行车、家用小轿车清洁时，不用水冲，改用湿布擦，太脏的地方，也宜用洗衣物过后的余水冲洗。 家庭浇花，宜用淘米水、茶水、洗衣水等。家庭洗涤手巾、小对象、瓜果等少量用水。宜用盆子盛水而不宜开水龙头放水冲洗

如果大家都没有节水的意识，如果真的到了水贵如油的那天，将会有无数的人干渴而亡，地球上的最后一滴水将会成为人们悔恨的眼泪!

珍惜水资源，保护水环境。污水处理系统，加强水环境监测，强化法律意识，依法管理水资源、水环境。

节约用水，利在当代，功在千秋。所以，我呼吁大家，节约用水，从现在开始，节水，爱水，珍惜水资源，保护水资源。从我做起，从身边的一点一滴做起!
