1977年，中断11年的高考恢复。全国约570万青年拿到的作文题为《我在这战斗的一年里》。这一年，中国发生了很多变化，在当时，高考作文既是人才选拔考试，又与国家政治形势有着密不可分的联系。接下来的一年，作文题还是很有“时代特征”：《速度问题是一个政治问题》。

时代在变，考题也在逐渐发生改变。1980年，高考作文题开始具备更高的“灵性”：《读“画蛋”有感》，“画蛋”成为当时的热门词汇。这个故事讲达·芬奇学画时，老师不是先教他创作什么作品，而是要他从画蛋入手。

从高考作文的发展历程来看，“画蛋”无疑是一个里程碑。“要知道，一千个蛋当中从来没有两个是形状完全相同的;即使是同一个蛋，只要变换一下角度去看，形状也就不同了”之类经典名句，也成为大家的珍贵记忆。

1981年：

仔细阅读《毁树容易种树难》，写一篇读后感。要求：观点正确、中心思想明确、紧扣原文发表感想、联系实际具体、恰当。

1982年：

作文题《先天下之忧而忧，后天下之乐而乐》。注意：必须写成议论文……

1983年：

形式创新考题首现漫画

1983年，高考作文形式出现大的变化，首次出现漫画。《这下面没有水，再换个地方挖》，要求考生分别写说明文字和议论文。这是高考作文发展中的重要里程碑，在形式上有了创新。

不过，作文以漫画形式出现在高考中，已是13年后。1996年，《给六指做整形手术》和《截错了》两幅作文漫画登上了多家媒体的头版，并被选入高中政治教材，成为高考作文中的另一个经典。

1984年：

1986年：

根据材料写简讯《育民小学办起了游泳训练班》。这几年，报社与高考作文均有直接或间接的联系。

1988年：

高考作文题目《习惯》，除诗歌外文体不限，这是高考作文首次放开文体的严格限制，此前明确要求写议论文。

1989年：

要求考生给同学回信。你的好朋友是某重点中学高三年级里中上水平的学生，他想立志报某重点大学历史系，班主任、父母各持己见。他为此感到困惑、苦恼，他写了一封信，想听你的意见，你给他写封回信。

1990年：

母亲带着两个女儿去玫瑰园，一个女儿告诉母亲，“这里不好，每朵花下都有刺”，另外一个女儿告诉母亲“这里真好，每个刺上面都有花”。根据这一材料展开描写，写一篇议论文。

1991年：

描写圆的想像物;就“近墨者黑”或“近墨者未必黑”写一篇发言稿参加辩论。

1992年：

清理路旁的脏物 1.根据提供的材料加以设想，记叙他们中的谁又怎样回来清理这个地方 2.选择所提供材料中的一个或几个人物(包括“我”)的思想行为，进行分析，展开议论，写一篇议论文。

1993年：

写广播稿。此后，高考考察应用文再未出现。

1994年：

以《尝试》为题写一篇记叙文，不少于700字。

1995年：

任选寓言诗中的两种鸟，展开想像，以《××与××的对话》为题(例如《麻雀与燕子的对话》、《黄鹂与鹦鹉的对话》等)，写一个200字左右的对话片断(20分)要求：1.对话与《鸟的评说》内容有关，并据此展开想像2.用对话方式写，不要用概述和转述方式写，不要写成独白或诗歌。

1996年：

仔细观察下页《给六指做整形手术》和《截错了》两幅漫画：

由于土地盐碱化而引起古文明衰亡的最早案例

位于两河流域的美索不达米亚平原，是人类文明最早的发源地之一。在这片肥沃的土地上，古代世界最伟大的三个文明曾经在这里繁荣昌盛。苏美尔、亚述、阿卡德和巴比伦人相继在公元前4000至前2000年间，在这里创造了高度发达的城市文明，令世人叹为观止。然而，这些古文明的发祥地如今却是盐碱泛滥、流沙纵横的不毛之地。

库巴唐”死亡谷”事件

巴西圣保罗以南60公里的库巴唐市，二十世纪八十年代以“死亡之谷“知名于世。该市位于山谷之中，六十年代引进炼油、石化、炼铁等外资企业300多家，人口剧增至15万，成为圣保罗的工业卫星城。企业主只顾赚钱，随意排放废气废水，谷地浓烟弥漫、臭水横流，有20%的人得了呼吸道过敏症，医院挤满了接受吸氧治疗的儿童和老人，使2万多贫民窟居民严重受害。
