厚积薄发要有“众里寻她千百度”的定力和方向。我们正处在知识爆炸的时代，近50年来人类社会创造的知识比过去3000年的总和还多。然而，人的生命和精力都是有限的，如果没有明确的方向，盲目的积累，就会成为无害亦无用的“四脚书橱”。我校概率论研究群体，在严士健先生、王梓坤院士、陈木法院士等几代人的带领下，目标明确、团结一心，坚持50多年研究积累，极大提高了我国概率论研究在国际上的地位。近年来，这个团队瞄准“探索与概率论相关的无穷维数学的理论基础，特别是寻求新的数学工具和方法”这一前沿主攻方向，面对激烈的国际竞争，他们进行多学科集体攻关，取得一系列举世瞩目的创新成果，被国际数学评论杂志誉为“北京学派”和“中国学派”。

美国哲学家爱默生说：“一心向着自己目标前进的人,全世界都给他让路。”同学们，无论将来你们从事什么职业，都一定要为自己凝练明确的发展方向，只有目标精准、问题清晰，才能将广博的积累化作创新的力量，才能将有限的时间投入到最有效率、最有价值的创造性工作之中。

厚积薄发要有“语不惊人誓不休”的执着和勇气。当代社会，各种考核、评价体系包围着我们，很多人为了证明自己，常常急功近利、急于求成，这样很难产出精品佳作，产出创新性成果。追求事业就像登山，有的人三心二意，登到半山腰就以为自己看到了最美的风景;有的人一心一意，成功登顶，终于领略到“无限风光在险峰”的美好境界。我校文学院已故教授郭预衡先生是当代著名的文学史家，他带领学生用12年时间完成《中国古代文学史》的正编、长编和简编，总字数超过480万字，被誉为新时期最有影响的文学史系列著作之一。年逾花甲，他凭借一人之力，花费19年时间完成三大卷、160万字《中国散文史》，“填补了中国文学史研究的一大空白”。郭先生注重将史学和文学研究结合起来，注重从第一手材料中提炼创新性观点，真正做到了论必有据、论必新出。

李克强总理在今年的政府工作报告中倡导大力培育精益求精的“工匠精神”。一个人一辈子做一件事不难，难的是把一件事做到极致。同学们，无论将来你们从事什么职业，都不要让一时得失左右自己的思想，要静得下心、耐得住寂寞、坐得住冷板凳、下得了苦功夫，只有这样，产出的成果才能经得起时间的考验和历史的检验，才能藏之名山、传之后世。

毕业典礼即将开始，同学们已经来到礼堂里，准备着。时间过得真快，六年的小学时光已经悄然而去，即将离开陪伴了我们六年的母校，大家都有些恋恋不舍。
