The Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school， and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; coupletsare posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

The Spring Festival， Chinese Happy New Year，is the most important festival for all of us. 为什么过年有压岁钱习俗呢?传说从前，有一个叫祟小妖住在山上。每当除夕这天晚上，祟就会鬼鬼祟祟地来到熟睡小孩旁，用手摸小孩头，小孩头会越来越热，最终变成了傻子，人们一到除夕总是胆战心惊。有一对夫妇生了孩子，他们把孩子看成无可代替掌上明珠。除夕晚上又到了，他们生怕祟来摸自己孩子头，于是，那天晚上，他们陪孩子玩八个铜板。孩子睡了以后，他们把八个铜板放在孩子枕头下面，像战士一样守护着孩子。到了三更半夜，呼。。，门外吹来了一阵阴风，把蜡烛吹灭了，夫妇像迷失在大迷宫里。可怕祟轻手轻脚地来到孩子旁，正当它要狠心下手时，枕头下发出一阵金光，其实是八仙来保护孩子，夫妇俩也看到了祟和金光。祟一见金光，吓得落荒而逃，夫妇顿时惊得张大了嘴。第二天，这事一传十，十传百，大家都知道了对付祟好办法---在孩子枕头下放压岁钱。

春节是这样扣人心弦，春节是这样令人眷恋，我喜欢春节，因为它是迎接新一年又迎接春姑娘圣大而又隆重典礼。

[关于春节的英语作文:The Spring Festival

“噼里啪啦、噼里啪啦。”鞭炮声欢快的响着。五彩缤纷的烟火在天空中飞舞，形状各异，美丽极了！ “过年了，过年了！”小朋友们高兴的欢呼着。

过年有许许多多的习俗：如穿新衣、扫房舍、备佳肴、贴春联、祭祖等等。家家都把房子打扮得别具一格，各有各的个性。买来的年画“福”字怎么贴法。那就各有自己的风格和喜好了。有的正着贴，有的倒着贴，还有的歪着贴。还要把全身上下，家的里里外外打扫得干干净净，一尘不染，好迎接新的一年。

大年三十的晚上，家家户户灯火通明。我邀请了爷爷奶奶、伯伯伯母、还有姐姐来家做客，一家人欢聚一堂，一起吃着妈妈精心为我们准备的丰盛的年夜饭。吃完年夜饭就要进行守岁，所以，初一的时候我在睡觉。因为守岁的意思是，每到大年三十晚上不能睡觉，必须过了12点才能睡，也就是新年的第一天，这就是守岁。我们一家坐在电视机前看《春节联欢晚会》，耳边还不时传来震耳欲聋的鞭炮声。晚会节目很精彩：有优美动听的歌曲，有幽默风趣的小品，还有滑稽逗人的相声……节目是丰富多彩，看得我眼花缭乱、应接不暇。

每年拜年都会有压岁钱，大年初一，我穿起新衣，放起了鞭炮，只要给长辈送去祝福，压岁钱便到手了。我呀先到爷爷奶奶家去拜年，  有了一百元，再到外公外婆家去拜年，有了两百元……这年拜下来呀！我就有了好几百元钱，可以用来帮助灾区的小朋友们，为此，我非常高兴。在这段时间里，我也学到了许许多多的知识，还可以跟哥哥姐姐一起玩，非常的快乐！

这个春节过得真快呀！真期待下一个春节早点到来。

春节，有人说她是除旧迎新的一天;有人说她是社会前进的又一步;有人说她是财源进门的象征。但我们这群淘气的男孩们知道，这又是欢乐悄悄降临的脚步声。

春节的几天里，不论孩子们做多少顽皮捣蛋的事，大人们也是不会怪罪的，在这几个和谐快乐的日子中，他们也没有理由破环气氛吧!这也是我们喜爱春节的缘由之一。于是，我们这群淘气男孩总会聚在一起，到街上溜溜，买点“双响炮”、“红蜘蛛”等鞭炮和一些小玩意儿，四处开开玩笑。有时，我们会事先将鸡窝留个缝隙，将点燃的鞭炮扔进鸡窝，用不了多久，我们就能听见鸡的惊叫声了;或者，我们会偷偷地跟在胆小的女生身后，假装漫不经意地朝那些胆小女生丢过几支鞭炮，而那些胆小女生边哭边跑的一幕着实可笑。

春节的膳食并不是美味的。

每当春节来到，新漆过的桌子上摆的总是一些鸡鸭鱼肉，但那是整锅。简单点说，无非是清扫剩菜罢了，重复的品尝让人厌恶。有时桌子上少掉几个小孩，那肯定是到街上买杂碎吃了。

春节中最吸引孩子眼球的便是那一张张红彤彤，放在手中轻飘飘压岁钱了，就算父母收刮，也会留下几成垫底呢!还别说，兴许一些顽皮的孩子，成天东躲西藏，可能就是怕压岁钱进了父母的腰包，全归他们保管喽!

在家乡，每逢春节，镇子上的老人院总会举办“猜谜语”活动。那可是算得上盛大的活动了。到那时，镇子上所有的孩子都会参加，因为解出谜语的奖励是香甜的糖果哦!虽然奖励对孩子来所十分丰厚，但是谜语也是不好猜的，进入老人院，你就会看见一个个孩子的五颜六色的问卷前抓耳挠腮了。当然，身为孩子的我也禁不住诱惑参加了，一条条谜语就好似一颗颗糖果在我眼中转圈。在老人院里坐了一个小时左右，回报也不小，二十几颗糖果就落到我的肚子里了!

这，就是我所知道的春节，一个淘气的男孩们都能听见快乐悄悄降临的脚步声的春节!
