How to Learn English Well

English is one of the most important subjects in middle school.  Almost everyone knows that we should learn English well, but few of us know how to learn it well. 读写词典能够让我学到许多的知识。首先，通过查词典我可以知道一个字的正确读音，如谢老师在给我们讲《竹节人》这一课时，文中出现了“风靡”一词，谢老师要求我们查词典看它的读音，有的同学根本不查词典，争着抢着要回答问题。我也觉得我知道它的读音，根本不需要查词典。而经过一查，我就发现了问题:在我的印象中“风靡”的“靡”字读音是mi(二声)，而查完词典后，它却读mi(三声)。

其次，通过查词典可以了解字词的意思。一个字或一个词也许有两种意思，也许有三种意思。比如还是这个“靡”字的读音有两种。分别是mi(二声)和mi(三声)。读二声时词义是“浪费”，读三声时词义是“无，没有”和“倒下”。在“风靡”一词中，是选择“倒下”这个意思。

还有，通过查词典可以了解到，一字可以用很多词表示。就拿“看”这个字来说，可以用:瞻视、斜视、蔑视、环顾、凝望、轻视、偷瞄、仰望、虎视眈眈等来详细表示。同样关于“手”，却能表示许多动作，如:拉、提、弹、捉、摸、抄、掀、拿、放、抽、揍、夹、擦、探等字。这些都可以用在写作里，提高作文水平。

上周四的月考结果出来了，本班成绩是意料之中的糟糕，从入学成绩来看，我班英语有20几个不及格，这就已经奠定了后来的结果，很多事情真的是大家都心知肚明的。也许，是真的我水平有限，都是从初一接手的新生，差距怎么就这么大呢?

从成绩分析来看，满分有3个，90分以上的20个。差距就在这一部分上，在平时上课提问来看，只有这一部分同学比较积极，而80分以上的有12个，这些同学，需要在平时多加提问和关注，争取到更高的层次上来。70分以上的只有2个，60分的只有一个，中间力量太薄弱了，可以争取的太少了。剩下不及格的，都在十几二十几三十几分左右，真的是太难提高了，而且，这部分同学不光英语不及格，其他科目也这样，我现在束手无策了。不过，我也不能放弃他们，在期中考试之前，多下点功夫，希望能有所提高。英语在现在来说还是比较重要的科目，如果一开始就不及格，就很难再提高了，所以，对那一部分不及格和六七十分的同学，课后补补课，能提高多少是多少吧。

大家好。时间飞快，本学期的期中考试即将临近，为了提高复习效率，使同学们能善始善终的完成近期的学习任务，提几点建议和大家共勉，为大家鼓劲。

大家都知道，期中考试是对每位同学半学期学习情况的检查，也是对各位同学学习态度、学习习惯、学习效果、学习方法和学习经验的阶段性总结。期中考试不是学习的终点，是学习的“加油站”、“维修站”，希望同学们把握好这次机会，在加油站里加好油，加足油，在维修站把知识查漏补缺，完善各科文化，考出水平，考出佳绩，考出自信。

首先，我们每个学生要端正对待考试的态度，重视考前的复习。世界上能过目不忘的人不多，所以很多知识需要进行全面的复习才能牢记。孔子曰：“温固而知新”，就是告诉我们学习要重视复习，一个成绩优秀的学生是肯吃苦、肯钻研，认真复习并掌握科学的学习方法的人，所以希望每一位同学能够在老师的指导下，把所学的知识认真整理，归类。并系统地进行复习，争取做到熟能生巧，融会贯通。

其次，考试是紧张的，每位同学即要重视考试，又要正确对待考试。考试既是知识的检测，又是意志的磨练。考试时要谨慎，但不要过于紧张，要放松心态，但不要过于轻松，要沉着冷静，要对自己充满信心，同时要科学地考试，认真分析试题，仔细推敲，先易后难。考题对你容易对别人也容易，因此遇到容易的不要忘乎所以，要细心;考题对你难对别人也难，因此，遇到难题莫惊慌，要认真思考。许多同学考不好是因为粗心大意，把会做的题随手做错了，我们要吸取教训，做到基础题不丢分，争取战胜难题，并注意把握时间。

第三，考试同样是一次对行为习惯规范的考验，我们要求做到：

(1) 考试时只带必要的物品

(2) 考试时应认真安静的答卷，有不清楚的举手问监考老师，不得交头接耳，不得左顾右盼，不得夹带与考试有关的东西。

(3) 考试期间请同学们注意保持校园及所在考场的卫生，爱护学校、班级的公共设施.

第四，考试还是一次对人品的检测，每一位同学对考试的纪律都是很清楚明白的。考试是严肃的事情，考试作弊是自欺欺人的做法，不能弥补自己的漏洞，相反会让自己失去诚实的宝贵品质，对于考试作弊的学生学校将给予严肃惩处。希望大家自尊自爱，切勿因小失大。

老师忠心地期盼每一位同学都希望考出优异的成绩，以告慰辛苦抚养我们成长的父母，以报答辛勤培养我们的老师，以勉励勤奋苦读的自己。但考试成绩必然有差异。考得好不要沾沾自喜，要自我找差距，争取百尺竿头再进一步。考得不好也不可灰心丧气，要仔细分析找原因，争取下次打个翻身仗。

我真诚地希望在这次期中考试中，同学们用我们的思想解答问题，用我们的精神维护诚信，用我们的理智拒绝作弊，考出自己的成绩，考出自己的实力，考出自己的人格。最后预祝每位同学都能在这次考试中发挥自己最好的水平，考出理想的成绩!

The traffic problem is one of the most serious problems in my hometown.

Recently, more and more people have private car, but the roads are so narrow

that we have to fight against the heavy traffic when we go out. Especially

during the rush hours, cars and buses are unable to move. To make things worse,

many people are killed in the traffic accidents. How miserable it is!

For the sake of our life and security, some measures must be taken to

change the present situation. In the first place, as there are a great many

cars, we should control the number of private cars and vehicles and use the

public transportation more often. Secondly, the government should widen the

roads and build more flyovers, so as to ease the traffic pressure and reduce the

traffic accidents. In addition, the undergrounds and light rails should be

constructed, so that we can have more choices when going out and do not have to

worry about the traffic jams in the future.

I believe the traffic problem could be solved if we devote our actions to

them.

In the last century, the government carried out the policy of family

planning to control the increasing population. So most families have only one

child, but recently, a new policy has been announced and people can have the

second child. It sounds like the good news for the family, as the only child can

have a sibling to company. While for some parents, they seem to be not the

qualified parents. A boy complained that his parents’ second child was the smart

phone, because they lowed down their heads all the time. Many parents did not

realize the lack of communication with their children. If they want another

child, they’d better learn to communicate their kids first.
