Too often we feel that few of our friends are true friends, without the traditional feeling of mutual affection which could only be created by longtime apart. But several decades ago, people treasured their friends and maintained relatively close interpersonal relations, which is much more enjoyable than the estrangements we are experiencing.

The last factor that has made our age so uncomfortable is the abusive use of technology. Although it brings much convenience, it essentially changes human – we are no longer the master of tools, but instead the slaves of devices. We rush to metro station in order to catch an early train, sit in front of radioactive computers all day long in order to get our work done, and stay in air-conditioned rooms all summer without experiencing the natural changes outside thick cement walls. Several decades ago, people could still live closer to nature and make rational use of modern technology, which to me is the essence of human living experience.

However, the comparison between different times is itself ridiculous. The criteria could not be easily determined, and opinions are highly personal. Anyway, we have a longer life span, more advanced medical facilities, and easier traffic than our grandparent when they were children, and we should treasure the present experience. Imagination of the past might only be nostalgia – if I ask my grandparents the same question, they might as well say that our life is much better than the past generations. Who knows? 金秋九月，我们接受着秋风的洗礼，告别了朝夕相处的六年小学生活，怀着激动和兴奋的忐忑心情，步入了初中的殿堂。

开学之后的第六日，我便迎来了初中的第一个考验——军训。军训第一天清晨，我早早收拾好来到操场。首先是跑步，睡意朦胧的我才跑半圈就气喘吁吁了，但看见大家都在努力跑着，我也不甘示弱跑到了终点。

We had English final exam yesterday. I feelvery sad now because I think I didn’t do well in the exam. Firstly, just amoment ago I realized that my composition in the exam stayed from the point,because I misunderstood the meaning of Green Campus. I thought Green Campus isonly the color of the campus. So I totally got away from the point. Inaddition, time was not enough for me. Eventually, I wrote some answers on theanswer sheet without thinking. Thus I’m afraid I can’t pass the exam. 早上和中午一样训练，晚上，我们举行了联欢晚会，13个连都有表演，而且还很精彩呢！

第四天

我们学会了体操，我的嗓子都喊哑了，声音也变了，我们做得这么好，教官给我们休息一下，呼！好累！到了晚上，营长让我们读手册上的日记。每一个人都读完后，就可以……吃宵夜咯！

第五天

This choked the emperor off. The emperor suddenly Changed his countenance and declared the meeting over. All the civilian and military officers at court were breathless with anxiety for fear that Ji An might bring disaster upon himself because of this. After returning, Emperor Wudi said to the people around him that Ji An was a little too rude and too straightforward.

For this reason ,Ji An was never promoted again. When he was the commander in charge of the appointment and dismissal of the local officials, both Gongsun Hong and Zhang Tang were low -ranking lfficials of little importance. Later ,they were promoted continuously. Gongsun Hong became the prime minister and Zhang Tang became the imperial censor. However, JiAns post remained thesame. One day, Ji An said to Emperor Wudi that the way the emperor used his ministers was just like piling up firewood, which meant that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers. Of course, Emperor Wudi could see that Ji An was complaining. So,turning to his ministers, Emperor Wudi said, "It is true that no one can stop learning.You see, Ji An is making more and more indiscreet remarks."

This story comes from The Historical Records. Later generations use the set phrase "the latecomers surpass the old-timers " to indicate that successors can cxcel the predecessors, which is quite different from the original idea when Ji An said that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers.

今天我们七年级新生昂首挺胸地站在操场上，听着老师宣布军训开始的那一刻，我的内心无比激动。给我们训练的周教官，是一名特警，待人温柔祥和，但给我们训练时就像变了一个人，非常得严历，我觉得就应该这样，什么时间做什么样的事。我们都知道，教官也是为了让我做得更棒才如此严厉。后面的训练特别艰难，每次站军姿最少二十分钟，频繁地练习原地三面转体，稍息、跨立。这些动作枯燥乏味，站军姿时也常常有一些人乱动，也有很多同学不听老师指挥，但周教宫都非常仍然耐心地指导我们。而经过短短两天的训练，我们也有了一定的进步，希望在最后两天里我们可以更加努力，铸就辉煌！

最有趣的就属体息时间了，周教官总是会幽默地说：“30秒喝水时间，3、2、1！开始！"一声令下，同学们飞奔起来，此时班级里一片欢声笑语。有时周教官还会组织我们玩游戏，放松身心劳逸结合。周教官有时还会同我们开玩笑，给我们讲笑话。有时候还会在上课时说一两句非常幽默的诗来调动全班的氛围。周教官在我看来不像是教官而是我们的朋友。

军训生活短哲而又美好，是我一生中非常美好的回忆，虽然艰苦但我却收获领丰：经过军训，我们能更加像鸟儿一样勇敢翱翔蓝天搏击苍穹；经过军训我们不再是温室里娇嫩的花儿，我们可以长成参天大树，迎接未来的暴风雨；经过军训，我们的人生更加精彩！

Last years Spring Festival is special. My uncle and my aunt came back from

Shanghai. My family were very happy to spend the Spring Festival with them. And

it was the most exciting festival of all the festivals.

On New Years Eve，my father and my uncle talked about their work together.

My mum did some cooking with my aunt. Grandparents and I watched the New Year TV

programmes. At about six o’clock， we had a special family dinner. We all thought

the dumplings were delicious.

On the first day of the New Year， we visited our relatives. In the

afternoon，we went shopping in Jiefang Road. My uncle bought some Jays CDs. He

likes Jay’s music very much. There were so many people on the road. It was more

alive than any other time of a year.

On the second and the third days，we spent a wonderful weekend in the

country. There were much bigger trees than in the city. And the animals were

more beautiful than in the city. We all enjoyed ourselves.
