In 1997, I participated in simulation tool development for the schedu ling system in Prof.

Wang’s lab.

With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation schedu ling system.

It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST.

In 1998, I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant.

This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In 1999, I joined the distinguished Professor Yu-Geng Xis research group aiming at Network flow problem solving and Heuristic algorithm research.

Soon I was engaged in the FuDan Gene Database Design.

My duty was to pick up the useful information among different kinds of gene matching format.

Through the comparison and analysis for many heuristic algorithms, I introduced an improved evolutionary algorithm -- Multi-population Genetic Algorithm.

By dividing a whole population into several sub-populations, this improved algorithm can effectively prevent GA from local convergence and promote various evolutionary orientations.

It proved more efficiently than SGA in experiments, too.

In the second semester, I joined the workshop-schedu ling research in Shanghai Heavy Duty Tyre plant.

The schedu ling was designed for the rubber-making process that covered not only discrete but also continuous circumstances.

To make a balance point between optimization quality and time cost, I proposed a Dynamic Layered Schedu ling method based on hybrid Petri Nets.

The practical application showed that the average makespan was shortened by a large scale.

I also publicized two papers in core journals with this idea.

Recently, I am doing research in the Composite Predict of the Electrical Power system assisted with the technology of Data Mining for Bao Steel.

I try to combine the Decision Tree with Receding Optimization to provide a new solution for the Composite Predictive Problem.

This project is now under construction.

Besides, In July 2000, I got the opportunity to give a lecture in English in Asia Control Conference (ASCC) which is one of the top-level conferences among the world in the area of control and automation.

In my senior year, I met Prof.

Xiao-Song Lin, a visiting professor of mathematics from University of California-Riverside, I learned graph theory from him for my network research.

These experiences all rapidly expanded my knowledge of English and the understanding of western culture.

I hope to study in depth .

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D.program.

My future research interests include: Network Schedu ling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

Qu Yuan was a noble of Chu. During his lifetime, the powerful kingdom of Chu fell into a decline.

Early in his life, Qu Yuan won the confidence of the King of Chu, and was his deputy prime minister, helping draft laws and determine foreign-policy. When he saw the danger posed by the ambitious Qin State, he proposed government reforms and an alliance with the neighboring Qi state as a way to ensure Chu’s safety.

But the King of Chu was surrounded by self-seekers, who were jealous of Qu Yuan. They accepted bribes from the Qin’s envoy, dissuaded the King from taking Qu Yuan’s advice and brought about the poet’s estrangement from the King. Qu Yuan was finally sent into exile for 20 years.

During those desperate years, Qu Yuan helplessly watched his beloved country become weaker every day. In the year 278 BC, the capital of Chu was stormed by troops from Qin. In great pain, Qu Yuan wrote “Lisao” or “The Lament”, the greatest of all his poems. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, he drowned himself in the Milo River, because he was hopeless about his country’s future.

Qu Yuan died thousands of years ago, but he is remembered every year for his love of and loyalty to his country and his people.

Penguins live around the South Pole. They usually spend all their waking hours in the water. Only during the egg-laying and mating periods do penguins actually live on land. Gulangyu, separated from Xiamen by the 500-metre-wide Egret River, with an area of 1.77 square kilometres, enjoys a lauditory title Garden on the Sea. The original name of the islet was Yuan Zhou Zi. In the Ming Dynasty it was renamed Gulang, meaning drum waves, because the holes in the southwestern reefs hit by the waves make sounds like the drum beating.

Overlapping peaks foil the blue water, white clouds, green trees and bright flowers. The air in the islet is fresh. The entire place is free from any sorts of vehicles and is particularly quiet. All these render an atmosphere of a fairyland.

The roar of the waves breaks on the rocks. Impressive melodies surrounding and lingering on this island make famous for its piano-laden past. As a place of residence for Westerners during Xiamens colonial past, Gulangyu is famous for its architecture and for being home to Chinas largest piano museum. It is known as the piano island because people here love the piano. As early as 1913, students in schools run by foreigners started learning the piano. The enthusiasm for music later spread to more ordinary people on the island. Many piano families have since then come into being and produced accomplished musicians. And the number of the pianos possessed is in the leading place in the nation, though there is only a population of 20,000 people.

No tourist can afford to miss one attraction located on the island —— the nations largest piano museum. Divided into two exhibition halls, the museum guides visitors through a vivid history of the instrument with displays and illustrations. All different types of pianos such as miniature pianos, automatic pianos, accordion pianos and round-shaped pianos, are on display.

The architecture in the islet varies greatly in style, Chinese and foreign. Thus the islet has a laudatory title the World Architecture Museum Covered in green all the year round, its charming, elegant, secluded and serene. A great variety of villas stand shrouded by lush wood resembling numerous jadeites embellished upon a piece of verdant silk brocade. Hundreds of flowers grown on the Riguang Rock (Sunlight Rock) vie with one another for beauty. With the caressing sea breeze, its a quite cool place in hot summer. At the foot of the rock, theres the Memorial Hall to honor the national Hero Zheng Chenggong.

Today, Gulangyu is listed as one of the nations major scenic spots. The main sites of interest here include the Sunlit Rock, Shuzhuang Park, Gangzihou Bathing Beach and Memorial Hall to Zheng Chenggong, which are visited annually by millions of people from all parts of the country and the world. One is yellow. the other is white. they are very lovely. the yellow cat is very naughty. He likes to play with people. He often runs here and there. His favourite game is playing with balls, ropes and stones.

But the white cat is very gentle. She likes to wash her face.

And she doesn′t like to play with people. She often jumps onto my knees. I like to give her a bath.

Oh, my baby cats bring me much happiness. We are very good friends. I love them.
