New Years eve at noon, I saw my grandma cooked a lot of rice, just curious to ask: why want to cook so much rice, we also cant eat a meal? Grandmother replied: "want to cook some more, todays day cant cook fresh rice again. For tujia people seldom eat fish, so be about to cook more, it is also called more every year."

New Years eve afternoon, grandpa and father stick couplets, I also coincided with in the past. East, west to see see. When my father asked me: "do you know why do we need to stick couplets?" 除夕的下午，爷爷和爸爸一起贴对联，我也过去凑热闹。东看看，西瞧瞧。这时爸爸问我：“你知道我们为什么要贴对联吗?”我回答：“知道一点点，喜庆呗。”“也对吧，对联是为了表达人们祈求新年福运的美好心愿。现在我们贴好了对联，就不能往外扔东西了，连垃圾也不能扔，一直要到大年初二才可以扔东西。这样就表示把财圈在家里了。”爸爸接着说。

除夕的傍晚，由家里的最长者带领全家去“拜山祭祖”。在先辈的坟前点上红烛和香，摆上祭品，以表对先辈的怀念。这也是对他们的尊敬。
