恐龙有很多有趣的名字，比如大名鼎鼎的霸王龙、“大刀刺客”镰刀龙、长得像蜥蜴的禽龙。恐龙这么多的名字是怎么来的呢？读完这篇文章你就知道了。

1841年，一位名叫理查德·欧文的科学家在研究一块像蜥蜴一样的化石时，认为这是一种史前生物，便取名为“恐龙”，意思是恐怖的蜥蜴。这块化石是一个名叫吉迪昂·曼特尔的英国人发现的，当时他发现了几粒恐龙牙齿，其实，那是我们现在所说的禽龙的牙齿。“禽龙”这个名字，就缘于它那蜥蜴般的牙齿，它的上下两额、前部都没有牙齿，但后部有锋利的锯齿，它奔跑的速度也很快，和热带一种爱晒太阳的蜥蜴很像，因此得名“禽龙”。

恐龙在地球上生活了很久很久，而且种类繁多。我在看电影《侏罗纪公园》的时候，被霸王龙那横扫一切的霸气所征服。霸王龙属于暴龙科中体型最大的一种，现在世界上发现的最大霸王龙骨架，身长13米，超过了发现的所有肉食性恐龙，因此得名“霸王龙”，在古希腊语中意为“残暴的蜥蜴王”。还有镰刀龙，它的名字缘于那镰刀般的爪子。虽然它吃素，但它也是霸王龙的“好兄弟”哦！

我最后要介绍的是始盗龙，“始”寓意它是所有恐龙的祖先。而“始盗龙”翻译成希腊语是“掠夺者”的意思。我很纳闷，始盗龙是做错什么了？非要叫它“掠夺者”。

恐龙的名字就是这样有趣！只要一听，我就可以想象出它的样子，然后在脑海中活灵活现。

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF)

with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career

planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business

education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help

me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with

Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least

one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall

and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might

be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I

belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in

September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of

the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to

apply for the scholarship?

我是一个很阳光的小男孩，我喜欢各种体育运动，我参加了学校的篮球社团，每个周三放学后，我都和我的小伙伴们在一起打篮球，可开心了，对了，我还特别喜欢游泳，这次国庆假期的时候，和爸爸，妈妈一起去海边度假，每天在大海里游泳，真的是好开心，还认识了两个新的朋友，和他们在一起的日子，我更加懂得了谦让，我觉得自己一天一天的在成长。
