感恩节的由来可以追溯到美国历史的发端，起源于马萨诸塞普利茅斯的早期移民。这些移民在英国本土时被称为清教徒，因为他们对英国教会的宗教改革不彻底感到不满，以及英王及英国教会对他们的政治镇压和宗教迫害，所以这些清教徒脱离英国教会，远走荷兰，后来决定迁居到大西洋彼岸那片荒无人烟的土地上，希望能按照自己的意愿信教自由地生活。

“父亲”是一个很深沉的词，平时我们好像不用它来称呼爸爸。也许“老爸”或者“Daddy”更亲切些。我总认为，我的父亲是个乐天派，“父亲”这个词好像太沉，太重，将这样一座大山套在阳光上总觉得不恰当。

我爸爸长着一双大眼睛，炯炯有神。当我瞪着他，或他瞪着我时，那是真正的大眼瞪小眼!。他的鼻子是高而挺拔的，嘴巴是由两片很饱满的新月构成的。不知为什么，平时，他是很爱笑的，但在照相时却很严肃，摄影师总对他说：“笑一笑呀，笑一笑呀!”这是，他才极不自然地露出一点红色嘴唇后的洁白。那牙齿很整齐，规则地排列着，不掺杂色的白上下映照，好像要亮得发光一样。每当看到他的牙齿，我就懊恼地用手托着下巴，嘟囔着：“要是我有你那样整齐的牙齿，就不用矫牙了!”他却乐呵呵地说：“没关系，牙齿不太整齐才是好事呢，看你的那颗虎牙，多有个性呀!我觉得还挺可爱的呢?”我听了，赶紧用他的“个性论”去反驳妈妈的“矫牙论”，平息将要爆发的“矫牙风波”。

爸爸他很幽默，总是乐呵呵的，可以让严肃如天寒地冻一样的气氛活跃起来，融化那看不到的冰雪，所以我认为他像阳光一样，明媚的，不是像大山一样的深沉。

但后来，我渐渐发现，爸爸也有深沉的一面。有一次，当我把写完的英语作业递给他的时候，本来只打算让他签个字。谁知，他却很认真地一行一行地看了起来。看着看着，皱起了眉，而且那团阴云久而不散，还时不时拿起铅笔在我的作业本上又写又画。我知道我肯定错了一大堆，待他看完开口说话时，却没有了往常的“可乐”一般的感觉，而是一种浓厚深沉的如“苦茶”一般的感觉，脸上也不再有往日的英姿。但语气也很平和，也不开口训我，只是耐心地讲解，又告诫我不要因小失大，仅此而已。但我注意到他的眉一直没有舒展开，两眉之间好像有一道凹进去的沟，我想那是频繁的皱眉挤压而成的。平时倒也不明显，但皱眉时就特别显眼。细细想来，好像爸爸经常皱眉，我划伤了手时，甚至连我做错题时。这道沟，凝聚的是关心，是呵护，是不安，是教导，不用语言表达，不如阳光般灿烂，不被欢声笑语所取代，却象征深沉的父爱，大山一样。“父亲”这个深沉的词，用到我父亲身上，合适!我想，用到所有父亲身上，也都合适!

那是个晴空万里的午后，爸爸妈妈都不在家，我独自一人呆在家里看着电视。许久，我感到有些无聊，便看到窗外的几盆花草被晒得干巴巴的，我就想给它们浇水。于是我摇摇晃晃地舀来两大瓢的水，毫不犹豫地一股脑浇了上去，不久，我便看到那几盆小草都死掉了，我心里害怕极了。与此同时，爸爸妈妈回来了，妈妈一看到那几盆小草奄奄一息的样子，便急忙上前：“这是谁干的呀？怎么都死了？”我似乎被妈妈吓到了，慌张地看向别处。于是，爸爸把我轻轻地拉到跟前：“跟爸爸说。”我说出了事情的原委，便不禁放声大哭。爸爸语重心长地说：“小草死了，不是你有心的，你也是出于好意，所以，大方承认就好了，但绝不可以撒谎骗人，我们要懂得诚信待人。”此后，我一直将诚信二字铭记于心。

那一天是父亲的生日。这么多年来，我没有送过父亲一件礼物，所以我决定亲手做一份礼物送给他。

我找到了几本旧杂志，虽然可能有些旧了，但非常地耐人寻味，很适合父亲去读一读。所以我将这几本杂志放在一起，用一张白纸将书的四面包了起来，然后又亲手做了一些小玩意放在上面，剪了几张比较优美的图画贴起来，差不多就完成了。但是看上去还是比较粗糙，我就用小刀重新修剪了一下，也许是眼睛看花了，不小心割到了手，我放下小刀，先处理伤口，便继续制作。

终于，总算把礼物包装好了，尽管受了一些小伤，但相比于父亲这些年来的劳累付出，根本不值一提。于是，我给爸爸写了一封信，感谢他多年来的教诲。我也是一个比较内向的人，不会在嘴上表达，只能通过这封信来表达我对父亲的爱。

我将礼物与信一起装进袋子里，送给爸爸后，便去学校了。礼物虽然做得粗糙了些，不如礼品店里的精致，却蕴含了我的心声，我相信父亲一定能够读懂。我懂得感恩，我将这份爱融进了这两样礼物中，只想说：父亲，您辛苦了！我真的很爱您！
