Halloween

Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening," and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints Day. However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.

Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".

The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags.

Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. This bring them the satisfaction of being young.

I have stayed in shanghai alone for a week. it’s time for me to go to my

有一天下午，刚下过一场大雨，天气十分闷热，我在家憋得慌，就到楼下去玩，在玩时发现了几只大蜗牛，引起我的兴趣。我的脑袋里突然涌出了许多问题：蜗牛是害虫还是益虫？为什么蜗牛走过的地 方总会留下一条黏黏的像白带子似的东西？蜗牛吃些什么食物等等。于是，我决定自己去实验一番。

首先我检测蜗牛是益虫还是害虫。我用一些食物来检测几只蜗牛。我先找来了白菜叶、馒头和肉等食物，然后又捉了几只蜗牛，给它们分别编上号后，再把它们放到这些食物面前。大概它们都饿极了， 很快爬向自己喜爱的食物，几只蜗牛不约而同地爬上了白菜叶，大吃起来，而其他的食物，它们则不闻不问，不一会儿，白菜叶便被吃光了。于是，我断定蜗牛肯定是大害虫。

接着，我进行了第二个实验：蜗牛爬行时为什么总会留下一条黏黏的像白带子似的东西。我用一块尖尖的石头，小心翼翼地敲破一只蜗牛背上重重的壳，取出蜗牛爬行时露在外面的那块肉，用手摸了摸 肉的下面，只见下面黏糊糊的，隐隐约约还有许多小粒状的东西。这是什么东西？我很纳闷。于是，我便回家查看书籍，上网查阅，终于找到了答案。原来那些小粒状的东西就是它的脚，那黏糊糊的像白 带子似的东西居然是蜗牛的排泄物，它有助于蜗牛的爬行。

通过一系列的实验，我总算对蜗牛有了较全面的了解，真是受益匪浅，我不但学到了很多知识，还明白了一个道理：一个人长大要想有所发明创造，从小就要善于去发现问题，并学着解决问题。

晚上回家后，我给爸爸妈妈说：“放暑假了，有时间了我想学打篮球。”爸爸妈妈爽快的答应了我。第二天上午，爸爸、妈妈和我一起去商店买了一个篮球。下午五点，爸爸妈妈一起带我到了篮球场练球。不知道怎么回事，球在爸爸妈妈的手下跳得多欢，一到了我的手下就不听话了，东跑西跑的像一个顽皮的小孩，我追也追不上。爸爸教我仔细观察他拍球的动着：只见爸爸双脚叉开一尺左右，弓着腰，向前伸着手，张开手指，托着球。爸爸的手掌一翻，篮球便在地上和爸爸的手掌之间来回跳动，手快球快，手慢球慢，篮球就像一个听指挥的战士。我学着爸爸的样拍球，过了几天后，我就会拍球了。第一次投篮，用尽了全身力气，只投了篮球架的一半高。爸爸就教我用双手投篮，慢慢地我也能投上篮板了，好不容易投进了一颗球，我心里真高兴。

我坚持每天练球一小时，二个月来，我的球技提高了，身体也长壮实了。打篮球真是一项好运动。

【My Summer Vacation】

At college, I missed my parents a lot. As the term was drawing to an end, I eagerly looked forward to going home. And I planned to do a thousand and one things during the vacation. 灯罩可真脏啊!我拿着抹布对着灯罩刮来刮去，将原来一摸一手泥的灯罩，擦得崭新透亮。我自认餐厅的灯擦得最好了。原来，这盏土耳其语上面全是污泥，每次开灯，都觉得很暗。但是，在我用了‘威猛先生’擦过之后，原来脏兮兮的灯罩立马变了一个样，开开灯马上就觉得亮了几分。

在擦灯的过程中，我还见缝插针地顺便清洁了一下洗手池，白白的，干净地能映出我的笑脸了。

最后我还帮妈妈擦了踢脚线，因为妈妈这几天腰疼，不能弯腰了。妈妈告诉我擦踢脚的立面和上面的楞儿。在擦阳台踢脚线时，我擦下来一堆渣子，有墙皮，有石粒，还有灰尘毛毛，平时不起眼儿的小地方，想不到会这么的脏。干活儿也不容易。

虽然今天很累，但是面对亮亮的灯照得明亮的家，洁净的洗手池和干净的踢脚线，我很高兴，很有成就感!爸爸妈妈也夸我真是很能干!

难忘的回忆

Last summer holiday, I learned to swim. It was very unforgettable and interesting. I went to the swimming pool with my father. He taught me how to swim. At first, I was afraid of diving in the water. And I felt uncomfortable in the water. But father said it doesn’t matter and he would protect me. Then I began to swim, but I couldn’t swim forward at all. It made me upset. I get up at six in the morning. Then I wash my face and brush my teeth.

After a quick breakfast, I go to school in my mothers car. It takes us more

than half an hour to get there.
